NZ born Journalist wins person of the year in Hong Kong
Just read at the Herald:
Hong Kong’s best-known Western journalist, New Zealander Kevin Sinclair, who died of cancer last week, has been named person of the year in a prestigious annual poll.
Sinclair, 65, beat Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang and pro-democracy champion Anson Chan to the title in a poll by the Government-run radio station RTHK, winning four times as many votes as any other challenger.
I mean this with no disrespect to NZ journalists, but it is hard to imagine a journalist winning a popular contest for NZer of the Year. Very very few journalists are household names.
