The battle for Botany
Botany is the new seat created by the boundary redistribution. On paper it is a fairly nice seat for National, so hence some keen interest in it. Whale Oil blogs on the four candidates:
- Kit Parkinson
- Youngshin Watkins
- Pansy Wong
- Ken Yee
The selection meeting is on 5 February. I don’t know Youngshin, but know the other three to varying degrees. The selection requires an absolute majority so if no one gets over 50% of the vote, the lowest polling drops out and delegates revote.
The selection for Port Hills was this weekend. Ruth Dyson has a reasonable majority there, but it could go on a big swing. Yet to hear who won that one.
