Clark compared unfavourably to Bush Add this story to Scoopit!.

A blog has compared Helen Clark to George W Bush. Their headline:

Bush leads fight against climate change, Clark following fast

It goes on to compare Bush’s rhetoric to Clark’s and find some comparisons.

So which awful blog has done this? Is it Whale Oil? Insolent Prick? Cactus Kate? Ian Wishart? No Minister?

It’s the Greens’ Frog Blog!

Mmmmm. Must be an election coming, time to distance ourselves from the government we support, and the policies we have negotiated from that government. Winston will be next.

  2. philu (10,919) Says:

    it’s all ‘true’..

    and serves two purposes..

    highlights a core green concern..

and provides daylight between the greens and labour..

    what’s not to like..?

methinks Greens (Reds) see the end of the golden weather a coming and a Looooong time in the wilderness thats if and its a big if they make the 5 points cut

  5. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Klark’s biggest problem. As far left as she is, its not far enough for the extremists in the Greens. (or other similar nutters in her own party).

  6. dc (117) Says:

I bet they’re thinking “If only we hadn’t spent all our political capital on social-change policies we could have brought about real change in environmental policies!”. Or not.

  7. RRM (4,112) Says:

Oooh – suddenly the Greens’ Frog Blog is a journal we all take stock in, now that it’s written a little Anti-Labour article that tickles our fancy?

    Pathetic.

  9. Alces (310) Says:

You’ll know Helen is a real AGWer, not a pretend AGWer, when NZ starts paying carbon fines to foreign entities with taxpayers real money.

Helen’s not a believer until that day.

  10. farfetched (23) Says:

Its all a bunch of hogwash really.

If the greenies were ever genuinely concerned about climate change they would have stopped supporting the labour government long ago

There is no difference between green and labour, theyre both all rhetoric and no action, they both say one thing and do another.

  11. SPC (1,277) Says:

Sometimes I am reading here and think of Stanley from the Listener (pre APN).

Given the reaction of the right to this story, one can see why Greens have to be on the left.

  12. dad4justice (7,339) Says:

But George laughed at Klarkula on the tele and I celebrated.

  13. Johnboy (6,624) Says:

SPC are you any relation to the tinned fruit of the same name?

Not at all SPC it just seemed to me that your addled reaction to us of the right enjoying the cracks in the coilition of the left indicated a brain like a can of fruit salad. How the hell else would we react?

  17. dad4justice (7,339) Says:

    “You barking at me?”

Woof – woof – woof !!! ; quick Johnboy ring the SPCA :-)

  18. reid (9,990) Says:

The only reason Klark supports AGW is because Klark thinks it would be good for Klark to get a good UN post. Fuck the taxpayer who has to suffer for the AGW bullshit foisted on us by global media and politcal interests.

No wonder almost all the most rabid AGW supporters come from the left. They’re credulous on a number of fronts so why should AGW be any different. But to imagine that Klark paying other people’s money to an overseas entity is a sign of true belief in anything except her own self-interest, is just fucking dumb.

It’s the continuing interest in personal attacks which is the “discredit” to yourself

    Johnboy

“we react”, you mean you speak as the voice of the right from your high place on some mountain do you …

As soon as I see the K or the “liarbour”, I think the language of propaganda or some cult, which one has to be a member of to appreciate, or take seriously.

  21. southtop (167) Says:

This of skirmish is of interest to me and I suspect it may be the first in some hilarious encounters. The greens are going to fight for their political survival without Donald. If they cannot shore up their base they will have to rely on taking some votes off the far left of labour.
According to polls Labour cannot afford to drop anyone. This could get FERAL (pun intended).
As mentioned without AGW as a base, plus additional taxation of the middle classes, the greens may be found to be swimming naked.
They will be left with the anti-everything brigade e.g. ban McDonalds cos of rubbish, food, globalisation, american etc etc.

  22. battler (116) Says:

As National Party leader John Key correctly stated AGW is an “complete and utter hoax”

  23. gd (2,286) Says:

The hope is that the Greens get 4.9999999999% and they get it from disenchanted Labour voters.

IMHO JK and the Nats have to get enough seats to govern alone or with Rodders and Heather Dunny cant be trusted further than I can kick his arse.

So the task for Nats supporters is to rally the troops and play the Socialists at their own game ..
Make sure on Election Day that the blue supporters vote early and vote often ( Ohh Sorry the last bit only applies to South Auckland labour voters)

  24. Johnboy (6,624) Says:

SPC wonderful fruit salad you make. Just had some for dessert. Still licking my lips. So you are a fan of “The Waltons” then. Great show that was. Dont make them like that anymore since the left wing have been working on the destruction of the family unit. Dont think that NZ on air funding would be made available for arch-reactionary programming that showed the family unit doing what it does best. Congrats for getting the point of my blog name though, maybe you do have something in your cranium other than mush.

  25. Alces (310) Says:

“Fuck the taxpayer who has to suffer for the AGW bullshit foisted on us ”

Reid, in NZ you can choose whether you want to pay interest or tax.

Hint: interest can be used to increase your wealth tax cannot.
You only need to give your money to the state if you are too lazy to make some other arrangement.

A tiny economy like NZs means the state is a lot less powerful at street level taxation than its omnipotent legislation suggests in folklore.

The driver of employment in NZ is small business.
If cash businesses declared more than 50% of their incomes there would be no micro businesses.

The gst system works on bluff and strategic highly publicised niche targeting of a few sectors, it’s a sham.
Cash businesses collect gst as profit.

Govt knows that and generally leaves them alone.

  26. Duxton (354) Says:

Frankly, I am appalled that anyone would try to compare Helen Clark to George Bush. The two have nothing in common.

One of them has overseen a political system based on corruption and patronage for eight years; has interfered in other countries’ affairs; has made a series of disastrous decisions that have seriously harmed their country’s economy; has attacked religious minorities; and has an inflated opinion of their place on the world stage.

The other is the President of the United States of America.
