I guess I am just to stupid to understand your brilliant mind Psycho please accept my humble apologies. So let me get it straight when you whinge it does not increase the fucked-up-ed-ness coefficient of the particular country that you happen to be residing at the time but if any one else whinges it does increase the fucked-up-ed-ness coefficient of the nation.
An amazing concept. I suspect further research (in your own mind) of the value of the reduction in the fucked-up-ed-ness coefficient caused by your words of wisdom will show it to be inversely proportional to the lumenosity of the sun that shines from your rear orifice.

What about the 75% of Labour retirees who are staying? What will those losers do?

I see that Internal Affairs may have an opening for David Benson-Pope.

The nicest thing about living in another country is that it is not yours to criticise. I lived in England for 4 years and the only thing I gave a shit about was my weekly pay packet and the wonderful holidays I could have. Whatever the government was doing over there was not my concern. I will be taking the same attitude with me when I leave for Australia in May.
I no longer wish to live in NZ because I give too much of a shit about the erosion of the average Kiwi's standard of living that I have witnessed, aided and abetted by the coalition government. You might say I should stay and fight. Well under this current government I feel anyone publically speaking out against them is in some way going to end up a marked man. I apologise in advance for being negative but I just don't see a change in government this year. The budget lolly scramble and backroom deals with coalition partners will bribe many to retain the status quo.

Could maybe one of you guys just post the comment "Don't like poofters!" at the start of each thread, another one post "Who does?" and then we could all just skip the ensuing 50 posts of anti-gay bullshit?

DPF: was there a point to this post? Are you suggesting MPs should be barred from leaving the country? You seem to be at least suggesting that govt MPs leaving is a sign of them having wrecked the country - can we take it then that no National govt MPs would leave NZ following their retirement? Good luck with that one.

I've left the country twice now - it was fucked up when I left both times, and just as fucked up when I came back, both times. Different govts in power, no discernable difference in general fucked-up-ed-ness. Oddly enough, the countries I moved to also seemed to have rather a large number of problems, just like here. Both also seemed to have more than their share of whingers bleating about the govt, also just like here. Personally, I thought it was the whingers, not the govts, fucking those countries up. Just like here.

John Dalley:

<blockquote>
Could you also explain the Karma thing, i think i missed it when you changed to the new format.
</blockquote>

DPF explains the new Comment Karma feature <a href="http://www.kiwiblog.co.nz/2008/02/kiwiblog_20.html" rel="nofollow">here</a>:

<blockquote>
Comment Karma - you can now vote good comments up and bad comments down. Will be a good way of highlighting good comments. We did try and install another plugin which similiar to slashdot would also allow one to filter by comment rating and assign default karma to a user so good commenters start off with higher defaults. But that plugin is designed for low traffic blogs, not one with over a hundred thousand comments on it - the server died despite all attempts. But even this one should be fun
</blockquote>

I think it's a good feature as it encourages Kiwiblog readers who generally don't comment to have their say anyway :)

Phil - My Daughter and New Husband have just come back from Aussie. About 8 days on the Sunshine Coast and commented that how dear shopping had become. Food had gone up considerably from about 2 years ago, clothing, appliences, whitegoods, etc have also taken a serious hike in pricing.
They also say the news has the same ol same ol and NZ, poor hospitals, housing too dear, rise in mortgagee sales, you get the picture.
Mondays Sydney Morning Herald was full of doom and despodancy with people complaining about traffic, etc.
The grass may be greener, the wages may be higher but all is not well in the land of Oz.

Ps: DPF I like the editing format, makes up well for PP typing skills.

The main idea behind this posting is disturbing, especially where Mr Barnett is concerned.

In recent years, I have wondered with increasing frequency about Mr Barnett's motives which seemed to me to be the most spectactular example of ego-driven selfishness I've ever seen.

But is there more to it than Mr Barnett's personal desires? Has there been a coordinated campaign by him and his supporters to move into NZ politics, establish a regime which further legitimises homosexuality and prostitution and undermines the family? It would appear so.

The damage has been done. Mr Barnett is now departing the scene of the crime with his 'married' partner.

I despair for our political process if it can be used in this way. To call it a democracy is just another abuse of our language.

I look forward to the day when we can recover some sense of decency in our public life and political process.

In recent years, I have wondered with increasing frequency about Mr Barnett’s motives which seemed to me to be the most spectactular example of ego-driven selfishness I’ve ever seen.

But is there more to it than Mr Barnett’s personal desires? Has there been a coordinated campaign by him and his supporters to move into NZ politics, establish a regime which further legitimises homosexuality and prostitution and undermines the family? It would appear so.

The damage has been done. Mr Barnett is now departing the scene of the crime with his ‘married’ partner.

I despair for our political process if it can be used in this way. To call it a democracy is just another abuse of our language.

I look forward to the day when we can recover some sense of decency in our public life and political process.

Gosh with the rate DPFs handing out demerits Im too afraid to post what I was going to post

Suffice it to say wouldnt it be great if MPs had a more holistic view rather then the single issue so many of them are caught up in.

Sigh I guess hoping for members of the House of Representatives to actually represent you is a forelone hope .Certainly one of the current lot represent me or my values morals or ethics.

They continue to be but dog turds on the soles of my shoes.

[DPF: 10 demerits. Cite some evidence to rebut - don’t name call]

David with all due respect the Family Court does not collect such information and part of the Fathers Coalition problem is exactly that . That is, trying to get them to acknowledge the existence of the problem . Many fathers suicide as forced clients in the litigation world of the Family Court . You ping me 10 demerits for that then I suggest that is not fair. That is not right as IF THE EVIDENCE EXISTED I WOULD CITE IT . I have many, many examples. I am livid at your decision and I urge you to RETHINK ?

Well If Barnett can't find a bed for the night when he reaches Blighty I am sure there is a Mr Barrymore who would host him for the night. Might even invite him to skinnydip in his swimming pool.

[DPF: 10 demerits. Joking about a homicide situation not helpful]
