Chloe the Wainuiomata shoplifter

Anyway she appeared in court today charged with shoplifting, with which she effectively admitted guilt with an agreement to do diversion.

For Gods sake David I must protest as a loyal Wainuiomartian. She lived in Naenae after Wainui and cavorted in Bluff for a while with smiler and is now Chloe of NAPIER. Will we never be forgiven for once offering her a home. That bastard McCormick has a lot to answer for, wanted posters with a price on his head still adorn the Wainui mall I believe.

I’m rather sorry to read that. Sure everyone loved to scorn her but at the time she added a lot of colour just as Fred Dagg had before her.If she had no money to feed her pets I could forgive her. Woman of her age (approaching menopause) often commit shoplifting offences despite leading hitherto blameless lives.

I thought she might have shoplifted tiger slippers. Turns out she was charged with stealing pet care items. I think that makes two “celebrity shoplifters” in the past six months – Phillida Bunkle being the other.

Also as someone who once went to court, got diversion and had it as front page news and on the TV news, I'm not sure why I never got the same sympathy as Chloe

It was evidently apparent to the locals what McCormick was up to at the time, as he sat in the mall ignoring the hundreds of perfectly normal Wainuiomata people wandering by till he spotted a freak. He was apparently told by a few of the bros to skedaddle or he’d receive a good talking to (or something like that).
I’d tend to agree with Tane and Barnsley Bill that it’s somewhat cruel to give this minor offence such prominence just because she once had her 15 minutes of fame, were it not for the fact that – far from being exploited – she was in fact one of the earliest examples of someone who, “famous for being famous” lept at every subsequent chance to appear on “Celebrity this” or “That with the Stars”.
In fact, given the penchant for self aggrandisement and too much mascara, she could be said to have blazed the trail subsequently followed by Michael Laws

Tonight’s Close Up was a piece of journalistic voyeurism that was hard to stomach. She had no real idea why she was appearing and was at a complete loss.
Sainsbury’s appalling use of this woman left me sickened. She has deteriorated from being charmingly odd to depressingly mentally ill. It was absolutely shameful to take advantage of her circumstances for a cheap ratings hit.
