Two new blog features
April 28th, 2008 at 11:06 am by David FarrarFirstly one can now “Scoopit” each post.
If you like a particular post, you can click on the Scoopit button at the bottom right of each post, and it will place it on Scoop’s Scoopits page, which will bring it to the attention of Scoop readers. It’s sort of similiar to the karma for comments, in that the mroe people who click on scoopit for a post, the higher up it goes in Scoops’ ratings.
Secondly the blog now displays after your name, the number of comments you have made. Some of you are prolific!

Sorry, I just wanted to see how many posts Brian and djp had made.
Gee this is fun, huh?

It is quite interesting to see how many comments some have made…

I’d like to see a running grand total of all of my negative Karmas, considering the people I have run-ins with I would wear that as a badge of honour. The hardcore hatred of Labour posse must have me well into three figures by now??

I a commenting for the same reason ass djp

You should post more Brian.

I would but unlike some here I have a life away from the internet.

Perhaps there should be a second number showing how often the posts are worthwhile/on topic… (Karma doesn’t deliver on that)

Why do you not have the scoop button on the article page? It seems over bearing on the home page with so many of them and would seem more appropriate on the article page itself.

People who’ve made 2,000+ posts surely don’t have full-time jobs? Unless they’re paid to comment on blogs. Or spend every waking hour they’re not at work venting on the internet.

“People who’ve made 2,000+ posts surely don’t have full-time jobs? ”
Either that or they are union officials.

As a part-timer I’d like to know how much time I spend on here. So would my employer…

This is a cunning way to drive comments up david. The ultra competitive will be posting noon and night. Doubt it will improve the quality of comments though.

A moreuselfful feature would be email notification similar to the way blogger does it when a new comment is posted.

just checking my posts. Also I have scoopit’ed this blog entry to see if it can get to the scoop front page!

Also this is a genius move by Scoop that just might make them the leading news site in NZ by copying the Digg model.
They need to add and unscoopit feature though.
