Budget Lockup Add this story to Scoopit!.

Like last year, I am in the budget lockup. At 2 pm I will be able to start posting again, but only on issues Dr Cullen has covered in his speech as he reads it.

Roger Nome, Sonic and Ghost Who Walks are appointed Acting Moderators until then.

And no I am not serious!

You’re wicked DPF! If you really believed in free speech, and weren’t a far-right party apparatchik, you’d do it though. Fascist!

  3. Murray (4698) Says:

But how will the operate their keyboard in those stylish jackets with the arms that do up round the back David?

  4. Pascal (1875) Says:

Same way they operate them now Murray, by rolling their foreheads across it.

  5. Brian Smaller (2520) Says:

Aren’t those three the same person?

  6. GPT1 (1050) Says:

    On behalf of GWW:
You say moderate and you claim Key is moderate but as we all know he is extreme right wing with a secret agenda to destroy this country. http://www.madeupshit.co.nz/johnkey John Key is evil and you all know it.

  7. big bruv (5640) Says:

I guess there is no point in Woger, Sonic and Ghost being part of the “lock up” as they will not know what line to take until dear leader has told them, for that reason I suspect there is nobody from the standard there either.

No doubt as soon as they are told what to say the tax payer funded and Labour staffed Standard will be all ready to go with their bullshit and propaganda.

  8. Chicken Little (618) Says:

big bruv – Lprent will come over and ban you if you carry on with those baseless allegations.

It costs $200 per month, no scratch that, $70 per month to run the Standard. He’s explained this hundreds of times. Hes trying to get some work done and you don’t want to come to his notice. Don’t mess with the sysop mate!

[ IB - We're all just hard working, independent commentators with no links to any political party. We're all soooo sick of explaining again and again that there is nothing to see here. Now, wheres that Uncle Tom Ranapia? ]

  9. Murray (4698) Says:

Yeah but Brian he has a multiple personlity dissorder.

All of them boring leftie knobs

  10. big bruv (5640) Says:

    Chicken

Where is Mike Willia…….I mean Irish Bill?

  11. Chicken Little (618) Says:

Fluffing and preening somewhere I assume bruv.

Or wiping away the tears of everything coming to naught.

Or possibly off banning everyone who has a different opinion to him, as seems his want.

Where ever it is, considering his shaky, at best, grasp on reality I’m sure its a ‘lovely’ place.

Reddish probably. With flowers and rich anon donors, reclined on cushions of Govt Dept literature, lazing in corners, ready to be plucked.

    Paradise, I’m sure.

    Why do you ask?

  12. ghostwhowalks3 (387) Says:

Ive decided to TRY to be more constructive here and save the Key stuff till he becomes PM ( and then say I told you so)

  13. Ross Miller (1312) Says:

Newsflash … GWW3 in his 12.13 just conceded the election.

An honest pragmatic post (at last) … now I guess the question to be asked is what is Ghostie going to say when the Beehive Mafia come knocking at the door wanting a ‘Come to Jesus’ talk?

Still, confession is good for the soul so I’m told.

  14. burt (4074) Says:

    ghostwhowalks3

Take care ghost, when he becomes PM (If that happens) he might purge the public service of all labour supporters and then deny that happend like it appeared and order an inquiry. That inquiry will report nothing to see – “move on” and YOU will be required to accept it because you have defended the same actions from labour so many times.

Oh the mess we make for ourselves when we sell out our own principals to be an apologist for a defective govt!

DPF said: Roger Nome, Sonic and Ghost Who Walks are appointed Acting Moderators until then. And no I am not serious!

At least you didn’t suggest dad4justice or big bruv, even in jest!!! Mind you, they’d probably censor all of each others posts.
(You might be amazed at what we can do Toad)

  16. siobhan (278) Says:

I have had a sick feeling in my stomach all day – cullen may pull that magic rabbit out of his ar…

  17. big bruv (5640) Says:

    Toad

“At least you didn’t suggest dad4justice or big bruv”

Afraid of a little censorship Toad?…ha ha

  18. getstaffed (4600) Says:

siobhan, i feel similarly. labour will not go down without a fighting bribe or two … and IMHO too many NZers are weak and easily brought

  19. burt (4074) Says:

Relax people, when labour throw cash around like a drunken sailor it’s not an election bribe, govt spending won’t cause inflation and Labour tax cuts do not require borrowing. National on the other hand – tax cuts are election bribes, they cause inflation and require borrowing to pay for them.

    Cullen’s last stand ! I don’t like it – it’s too quiet!

  20. Bevan (1920) Says:

Mind you, they’d probably censor all of each others posts.

    Kiwiblog is not The Standard.

  21. Johnboy (2263) Says:

Cheer up team think positive just remember this is the last budget the slimy little git will ever get to deliver.
(Hope that comment passes the new moderators.)

  22. roger nome (4067) Says:

“Roger Nome, Sonic and Ghost Who Walks are appointed Acting Moderators until then. And no I am not serious!”

heh – as I recall, several years ago some righties did seriously suggest Sonic as a moderator. It’s probably needed – DPF tolerates a lot of bile and abuse from posters from the right here. At the Standard that kind of behaviour isn’t tolerated regardless of your political orientation. Consequently, the level of debate there is of a much higher quality.

BTW does anyone know what happened to the so called “Ranganui” and the other “moderators” that were appointed by DPF? Maybe they got sick of copping abuse from redbaiter and his ilk.

  23. big bruv (5640) Says:

    Woger

“At the Standard that kind of behaviour isn’t tolerated regardless of your political orientation”

That is utter bullshit, read some of the crap posted by Robinsod and see what that wanker gets away with, I do agree that the Standard has simple rules though, agree with dear leader or be banned.

At least here you can disagree without being punted.

  24. roger nome (4067) Says:

On the budget – I look forward to seeing reactions from New Zealand’s well-regarded economists on it.

The IMF has said that major increases in govt spending or major tax cuts will cause a blow-out in the value of the dollar and will cripple our export sector. Now Jon Key has said that National is due to cut taxes by $50 per week on average, or about $2,500 per year. There are about 3 million income earners. That’s pumping another 7.5 billion dollars into the economy, and without any major govt spending cuts. The results could be disastrous.

Now the export sector has been warning against tax cuts – and john Key looks set to ignore them, and crush them, all for his own personal political gain.

I hope the National Party is willing to deal with the backlash from NZ business if it wins the election. It’s going to be interesting.

  25. stephen (3476) Says:

BB, it seems that you can disagree, but you need to offer and argument that consists of more then ‘i hate dear leader so much you socialists are going down just like your commissar Klark’. I’d get pretty sick of that if I was running a blog that I use to regularly engage with posters (as the Standard does), rather than DPF’s approach of posting a topic and kicking back…(with the occasional interjection, but really, he doesn’t say a lot, presumably seeing as he has a polling company to run, but still).

Anyway, while this thread has been highly engaging, I think I will do my own kicking back and wait for the budget…

edit: oh and BB, the stuff that Redbaiter gets away with…? ick

  26. roger nome (4067) Says:

“read some of the crap posted by Robinsod”

Robinsod has been banned at the standard before. But he is the exception there, rather than the rule. Also if you look at who he abuses/bullies, it’s usually people who are lower-level bullies like yourself, whaleoil and Barnsley Bill etc. He sees himself as somewhat of a vigilante justice figure (not that this excuses some of his more abusive outbursts).

  27. ray (55) Says:

    Robinsod is a disgrace
Remember his pig f*****g claims that he made and remade
    No moderating there

  28. roger nome (4067) Says:

    Ray -

The pig f*****g claim was made with humour, and it did have quite an interesting point behind it. I think ’sod gets away with that kind of thing because he is actually funny and intelligent, though he definitely crosses the line too often.

  29. burt (4074) Says:

    roger nome

This inflation business the IMF are talking about – what caused it? Govt spending perhaps? Now what happens – the dim-bulb socialists continue to spend like a drunken sailor and the workers get buttons becasue the friggen socialists have stolen all the head room from the economy. Brilliant – self serving policies of a corrupt power at any price govt at their finest.

  30. Pascal (1875) Says:

roger nome: DPF tolerates a lot of bile and abuse from posters from the right here

As opposed to Philip John who calls DPF’s ethics, professional relationships and general behavior into question at every opportunity presented. I realize you are speaking in terms of general bile and abuse, but on a personal level you deliver the most abuse at DPF of anyone here.

  31. Spam (423) Says:

    Michael Cullen – NZ Herald
    Tax cuts costing $10.6 billion
    22/05/2008 14:16:51

The Government is spending $10.6 billion on its tax cut programme.

Over the next four years, the lowest personal tax rate will be reduced to 12.5 percent; the 21 percent threshold will be increased by $10,500 to $20,000; the 33 percent threshold will rise by $4,500 to $42,500 and the 39 percent threshold will rise by $20,000 to $80,000.

People currently on $20,000 a year will receive an extra $12 a week from October; those on $40,000-$60,000 will get an extra $16 a week; and taxpayers earning more than $70,000 will get $28 in their weekly pay packets.

The Government says that from April 2011, nearly 300,000 taxpayers will no longer face the highest tax rate of 39 percent.

The family tax credit will be boosted and there will be an increase to the Working for Families tax credit threshold from October 1, worth $14 per week for a family with two young children on the average wage. A further expected increase to the family tax credit and income threshold will occur from April 1, 2011, worth an additional $15 per week.

The programme will see a couple on the current average household income of $72,000 (split two thirds/one third) with two children aged between 11 and eight better off by $43 a week from October 1 ($2,223 a year) rising to $85 a week ($4,397) a year from April 2011.

Finance Minister Michael Cullen says the tax programme should provide some relief from the current increases in the cost of living although he says for many families, they will not compensate for them totally.

  32. roger nome (4067) Says:

    Burt -

They did it too so it’s alright for us to do it? National good Labour bad?

  33. Johnboy (2263) Says:

Shattering news in the budget folks—”Rich Pricks” are now upgraded to those on $70,000 pa.

  34. Inventory2 (4095) Says:

    Johnboy – it’s $80k

  35. big bruv (5640) Says:

Great….I keep working to feed other people bloody kids.

  36. boomtownprat (281) Says:

    NO IV2, its’s 80k in 2011!!!!

  37. Johnboy (2263) Says:

“Finance Minister Michael Cullen today announced a three-year tax cutting package, with workers on the average $45,000 wage taking home an extra $16 a week from October.

His ninth Budget dropped the bottom tax rate from 15 per cent to 12.5 per cent and raised the 33 per cent and 39 per cent thresholds by $10,000 a year.

From October, the top tax rate will kick in for people earning more than $70,000 a year.”

Thats just pasted off the Herald IV2 is the $80,000 for later if we all vote Mickys party back in perhaps?

  38. Johnboy (2263) Says:

Note the politics of envy and greed as you would expect—no reduction in the top rate of 39%!!!

  39. paradigm (507) Says:

“the 39 percent threshold will rise by $20,000 to $80,000.”

According to Act it needed to be raised to about $74000 just to counter bracket creep, so this really isn’t all that much relief for the top tax level.

  40. stephen (3476) Says:

well going on that logic Johnboy, couldn’t one call taxing those in the lowest bracket ‘the politics of stomping on useless low income earners’?

  41. Johnboy (2263) Says:

Indeed one would stephen that is why Micky has reduced the bottom rate by only 2.5% from 15 to 12.5 and refused to adopt the sensible policies of ACT of no tax at all on the lowest incomes. Still the dumb buggers vote for Liarbour. Got me beat it has.

  42. burt (4074) Says:

I’ve done some calculations – I can now retire 3 days earlier than I had planned.

  43. stephen (3476) Says:

Well they would do allright if they have a dependent kids though wouldn’t they…still.

  44. burt (4074) Says:

    roger nome

WTF are you talking about? I think you have confused somebody elses comments with mine. Please explain where I said they did it too?

  45. siobhan (278) Says:

I hope you are all right – I’m off if these idiots get in again. And I love my country and I hate feeling like I need to leave.
