Damn, now we have two political partys fighting to hand billions
of dollars over to private companies.
What happened to the private business model where if the
model is good enough the money can be raised by the companies.

I notice the rural sector will still be sucking on the hind tit for
broadband.
Jeez, more corporate welfare and that from both the Nats and Labour
Oh, I wonder, who will own the fibre, or is it to be a gift from
the taxpayer to Telecom and co ?

have you read any of nationals leading lights ( apart from key) speeches:

Opening Address to the New Zealand Drillers Association AGM
Mr Chairman, thank you for your kind invitation to be present at your Annual General Meeting this morning.

I say at the outset that I can't help recognising that the Drillers Association has a considerable amount in common with the current government. Both of you, it would appear, take great joy in digging holes for yourselves.

Thats gerry brownlee if it really maters

It was a pity Cunliffe spent so long bagging the opposition. This stuff is just too important for political point scoring.

NZ cant afford 'fibre to the home'. Australias government backed scheme is only 'fibre to the cabinet'.

And yet the urban sprawl around cities like Auckland has many upper income in rural areas who dont have broadband at all( and being say 5km from the cabinets mean they probably never will. ) These are obviously going to be left out but others in say small towns up to 1000 people should have speeds up to 24Mb/s ( or ADSL2+).

And what happened to all those saying enough with these wires ( fibre or copper) wireless is the way.

remember too that the first alternative to telecom fibre network was run down rail lines under a STATE owned structure
