For Star Wars nerds

May 24th, 2008 at 9:36 pm by David Farrar

A fan, Michael Kaminski, has written a 532 page book on the secret history of Star Wars. It has everything – the discarded plot elemenets, how they decided Darth Vader would be Luke’s father only after the first movie was done, what happened to episodes VII to IX.

If people have nothing to do over the next weekend’s long weekend!

‘For Star Wars nerds’ – like the subtle implication that there might exist some Star Wars obsessives who aren’t nerds…

Actually I was reflecting to myself only the other night that Helen Clark would be a prime personality-type for this kind of specialisation and obsessive nerdyness – but unfortunately for us all, she opted for politics.

Just a thought. Yes I really did think it.

    sorry.

You sad people. How can you can focus on something as trivial as NZ Politics when the secrets of George Lucas (may he always see the deep secrets of the true universe) are revealed. At last all that is truly, fundamentally mysterious is made manifest.
BTW, how many of you were puzzled when General Grievous popped up from nowhere at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith like me? I quizzed my local Star Wars nerd over morning tea and discovered it’s necessary to read the various books and comics between each movie to keep up with the plotlines.

    Thanks for the link DPF.

If you are a Star Wars fan and have not seen it yet, check out ‘George Lucas in Love’ on youtube. It is a great spoof of the origin of Star Wars.

Not to forget there is a new Star Wars movie coming out in a couple of months to the big screen (they show the preview during Iron Man). It’s called Clone Wars, I think, and is completely computer animated. It will be followed up by a TV series of the same. You can view the trailer online.

LeeC, I’ve always thought of Helen Clark as being more like the evil Emperor Palpatine. (“I will MAKE it legal!”).
