Labour’s Selections

May 26th, 2008 at 1:36 pm by David Farrar

Craig Foss has noticed that held a meeting this weekend to confirm Rick Barker as the Tukituki candidate, which is curious as he was announced as the candidate before Christmas. Did something happen?

There are rumours that some Labour MPs worried about losing their seats may announce they will go list only.

This could help explain why Labour has delayed its . Labour has a dilemma. If they give high list rankings to incumbent MPs, then they face having almost no new MPs enter Parliament.

Incidentally my list of candidates still has no names for Waikato and Tamaki for Labour. Anyone know if candidates have been named?  National is now just awaiting a Tauranga selection plus both major parties can do list only nominations.

Rick Barker is only a List MP now. He and Fairbrother were `turfed out’ as electorate MP’s in 2005 and my dog would have more chance of winning Tukituki or Napier than anyone Labour put up in those seats this year.

The bloody list has a lot to answer for. One only has to look at the flotsam and jetsam in parliament put there by the list.

pdm, if list MPs were dogs the would probably be classed as turners, they turn good food into shit.

ssb – I doubt my, or should I say our , dog would want to be an MP of any kind. He prefers to chase birds and bark at innocent people passing by plus he sleeps a lot. Hell those are all probably qualities he needs for parliament.

Spare a thought for the poor saps in labour who don’t make it high enough up the lifeboat list. Some of them will be regretting not taking the hint and the cushy parachute jobs come November. labour will not be setting their faithful servants up in grace and favour roles for quite a few years.

The Tamaki candidate is the wonderful Josephine Bartley – see more about Josephine at http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO0805/S00158.htm
