Missing the difference Add this story to Scoopit!.

The ultimate nanny state bill is being pushed through Parliament, having survived select committee. And the Greens say:

The Green Party said the bill would mean the health minister could issue regulations to reduce the risk associated with non-communicable disease.

“Given that poor diet is the leading cause of preventable illness and disease, it is vital that we take steps to create an environment which encourages healthy eating in New Zealand.”

The party said it was strange that there were virtually unlimited powers to prevent communicable diseases but little to prevent or respond to non-communicable diseases.

The Greens disagreed with part of the bill that allowed people who were not vaccinated to be considered a public health risk.

So the Greens (and Labour) think we need the same state powers for a communicable disease (eg bubonic plague) as we do for primarily self imposed conditions such as obesity.

If this law is passed, and not changed, then I predict it will become more unpopular than the EFA and the anti-smacking law combined. Give the state a few years of telling people what food they are allowed to sell or buy on what days, and you might be able to get the parties responsible for it below 20%.

That’s like questioning why ambulances are allowed to break the speed limit! Because they respond to emergencies – time is of the essence.

Communicable diseases need to be contained and require emergency measures to do so. Non-communicable diseases are not emergencies so why on earth would you use the same regulations? That’s like putting emergency measure in place permanently – a favorate trick of dictators and one of the reasons that the “war on terror” is so difficult legally.

For some reason I just had a vision of Jeannette and Russel pushing a barrow up Great South Road, ringing a bell and crying “Bring out your obese! Bring out your obese!”.

  6. The Optimist (61) Says:

It’s almost enough to make me go on a crash weight gain diet.

I wonder how much you would have to gain to be arrested and charged with ‘stuffing yourself stupid you fat slob’? Will fat people have to dart between shops at the mall with a lookout making sure there are no police about to arrest them? Will bands of roving surgeons attack without warning and perform an emergency stomach stapling operation in the street?

Could the state move for custody of a child if he looks a bit chubby about the cheeks? Might schools weigh and grade pupils?

Could it all be part of a human meat farming co-op? Perhaps they just want to be able to provide Martians with the coordinates of the fattest people to aid in the abduction operation?

It might be time for someone to point at that we are the people, we say what goes, and we are running the show. They are just the government. If they want a nanny state then they can create it in the beehive and let the rest of us alone.

  7. Matthew (167) Says:

that allowed people who were not vaccinated to be considered a public health risk.

David is probably almost right. Many parents choose, for many reasons, not to vaccinate their children. For a 3 or 4 year old child to be labelled “a public health risk” is arrogant, demeaning and divisive. But anything do drive them down further into the 20s in the next series of “extreme polls” is fine by me. National are going to be busy in their first term repealing all this rubbish.

Incredible, the Greens want to tell everyone what to do unless it offends their “big pharma/industrial medical complex conspiracy theory nutter” constituents. Meanwhile they have managed to get the Dept of Health to spend $450k a year on a policy advisor & policy analyst to introduce homeopathy ( magic water) into the health system.

“David St George, Chief Advisor, Integrative Care

Dr David St George’s role is to provide professional leadership, direction and advice on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), and on the integration of CAM with conventional healthcare, particularly in the area of primary care and chronic care conditions.

David has a degree in medicine from Auckland Medical School, and a degree in epidemiology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

After completing medical specialty training in public health medicine, he worked for a decade in the Royal Free Hospital in London as a consultant clinical epidemiologist specialising in hospital quality assurance. He later took up the position of Director of Research and Clinical Effectiveness at Southampton University Hospital.

While working in the NHS in the United Kingdom, David became increasingly involved in the CAM sector there. He helped set up the Prince of Wales’ Foundation for Integrated Health and was their first Director of Research. He also helped a number of CAM organisations in the UK develop their research strategies.

As a visiting academic, David helped Middlesex University set up an undergraduate degree in traditional Chinese medicine. He was research committee chairman of the Scottish School of Herbal medicine for a decade, and has been a visiting professor on complementary medicine at the University of Central Lancashire since 2004. He was also a member of the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board.

David joined the Ministry in June 2006 as Senior Advisor for Quality. Previously, he was Group Manager for Quality at Auckland District Health Board.”

    Hi Bryan

David St George, was appointed Chief Advisor, Integrative Care last
year. His background information is on this Ministry of Health webpage
    http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/indexmh/about-ca

Regarding your query about funding, you will have to ask the Ministry of
Health how much it cost as the Green Party was not involved in the
actual employment of the Chief Advisor.

“The report recommended the director-general of health be able to issue codes of practice and guidelines to combat non-communicable diseases such as cancer, heart disease, or mental illness.”

Oh fuck off. Now the greens know how to stop the incidences of mental illness and cancer, all thorugh diet! You have to be fucking kidding me. Why didn’t anyone think of this before? This from the party who harbours the dumbfuck woman who thinks fathers who discipline their children are paedophiles. Shall we did into her family history and see what psychological issues emerge?

A not very comprehensive list of things that cause cancer, heart disease, or ascerbate mental illness:

    (and need to be controlled)

    Hooch
    automobiles
    Chargrilled food and BBq’d food
    Coffee, tea
    tobacco products
    Any chemical drug
    Any natural remedy
    Diary products
    Wheat
    Air borne pollution
    building products
    genetic inheritence
    social interaction

The greens are totally out of their depth and due for a long overdue kicking. Their urge for total control has eliminated any element of humanity they may have had on an individual basis. On one hand they will punish mental patients for being alive, on the other they want HIV carriers to go about their business without being questioned.

  15. big bruv (9,836) Says:

Once again we see the lefts desperation to control how we live, the mot frightening thing to come out of all of this as far as I am concerned is the news that the tax payer will be funding stomach stapling operations for obese people.

The message (and one we have heard so often from these left wing wankers) is “don’t worry, its not your fault that you are a fat bastard” it is the same message we hear from the socialist scum all the time, “don’t worry Jim, its not your fault that you were forced to break into those houses” or “don’t worry Mary, its not your fault you have conceived ANOTHER child, and its does not really matter that you are not sure who the dad is the government will pay for the child’s upkeep”

People are fat for two reasons, the eat to much of the wrong food and they do fuck all exercise, it bloody IS their fault that they are obese and I am stuffed if I can see why I should have to pay for an operation just because these lazy pricks cannot be arsed getting off the couch to walk around the block a couple of times.

  16. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“I am stuffed if I can see why I should have to pay for an operation just because these lazy pricks cannot be arsed getting off the couch to walk around the block a couple of times.”

Agree entirely. Of course the reason you and I have to pay is because these fat useless bastards who blame everyone but themselves for their problems are typical Labour voters. Bludgers who think democracy is about voting for power hungry left wing politicians who will dole out other people’s money to them. Self deceiving mental incompetents who cannot see further than the next bucket of KFC and the next handout from a corrupt and cronyist politician.

The NZ democratic system is poisoned by these people, who only exist as the means by which leftist governments gain power. Throughout the globe, the socialists play the same trick. Sucking up to the uneducated, the stupid and the lazy, and buying their vote with other people’s money. Its also why leftists like to control education. The more fat dumb half educated losers they can pump out, the more votes for them.

It all reminds me of the fable of the Emperor’s New Clothes, where the advisors convince the ruler of the necessity of adopting a stance that is based on a lie.

It is all so familiar, EFA, Emission trading to prevent global warming, obesity etc.

If you want to know why labour is going downhill in the polls, it exactly tracks the Emperor’s New Clothes. When the government no longer governs and starts to rule it no longer represents the people that elected it.

Labour started out changing tact when the public mood changed. Certainly in the first term it did, however not this last 4 years. It is no longer listening to the polls, the public mood or even common sense. Labour, Greens and Winston are now ruling the country where their transgressions of law become inapplicable to them as they make the rules to suit them.

On a ship there would be mutiny, in a kingdom a revolution but in a democracy it is an election.

The fact that you would try and use your son to justify your indolence makes you even lower. So low I’d imagine you’d have no trouble parachuting out of a snake’s arse. Plenty of people work and bring up children at the same time. The domestic purposes benefit is (meant to be) an emergency facility, not a handout for narcissistic hypocrites who accuse all others of corruption and dishonesty while they blatantly rort the system. John Key and many other NZers you daily attack with your poisonous hypocritical shit are actually the people who put that money in your hand every week, at the expense of their own sons and daughters.

“The report recommended the director-general of health be able to issue codes of practice and guidelines to combat non-communicable diseases such as cancer, heart disease, or mental illness.”

the greens suggest they now know how to cure those things through diet. Talk about lost the the plot.

A not very comprehensive list of things the greens would like to ban/regulate with “friendly guidelines”. All these things can cause cancer, heart disease or mental illness or ascerbate those conditions:

    Alcohol
    Hooch, tobacco products
    internal combustion engines
    fossil fuels
Coffee, tea, chocolate, sucrose, glucose, fructose, lactose
    Dairy products
    Loud noises
Breast milk, lack of breast milk
    Breathing air
    Wheat and processed wheat products
    Building products
    Exercise or lack there of
    Vegetables
    Herbal and natural remedies
    sex

Of course any or all of the damaging agents/elements of these things will be be ignored if it coincides with the green agenda. It’s hardly a new technique. Bradford selected data that supported her personal views and ignored other equally important research and then constructed lies during the amendment of S59 of the crimes act. What a shame it would be if it was made public that the new guidelines contradicted the histories and current lifestyles of certain green party members.

  40. goodgod (1,363) Says:

This part isn’t getting enough attention. It shows their blatant hypocrisy and makes me really question whether they actually care about peoples health.

Even phule, a greenie himself, sees the idiocy of this position; to demand the creation of a health fuhrer with clear instructions to target fatties but ignore hippies. That is why he is avoiding THE TOPIC OF THE THREAD!

It is fairly obvious that the Greens have never met a bullshit study they couldn’t humiliate themselves by endorsing just because it suits their social agenda.

  46. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

  48. big bruv (9,836) Says:

When you read the rants of Comrade Shriveled and attempt to read the shit produced by Comrade Phul you really have to wonder about their sanity.
Clark has done nothing but lie to the people of NZ for nine years, have we seen any media beat ups about it….NO, now the left wing media wankers are shitting themselves at the prospect of John Key being PM they are digging as fast as they can to find something……hell ANYTHING they can to bring him down.

The same goes for the rest of the left wing politicians, Comrade Bradford (who I reserve a special hatred for) said recently that the deaths in South Auckland over the last few weeks were “a bonus”, will that be the first story on the news this evening?, of course not.

In the mean time Phul, Shriveled and the rest conjure up faux outrage at the revelation that Key has hired some bloke to his media training.

As far as I am concerned Key has only two faults, the first is that he leans to far to the left for my liking and the second is that he is (and I never thought I would consider this a fault) an honourable man and a man of his word.
Sadly he will not make the changes NZ needs, he will not take a sledge hammer to the welfare system and he will not be as vindictive and nasty as Clark has been over the last nine years.

Given the shit that we as a nation have had to put up with in the last nine years and the shit that we read here everyday from cunts like Phul it is no wonder that many have developed a lust for revenge, I know I have.

In a perfect world the new PM would smash everything that Clark has put in place over the last nine years, he would sack each and every one of her sexist appointments and dismantle the whole PC and anti family agenda she has set in place, he would also take a bloody big axe to all social welfare spending, would that mean that some have to go wthout…too fucking right it would and after nine years of this lot I could not care one little bit.

I am sick of being told that I HAVE too care about Phul and his kid, I am sick of being told that I HAVE to care about people being killed in South Auckland when the reality is that at one time I did care…now I could not give a toss.

There has been so much damage caused by Labour and I have had a gutsful of being told what I MUST find acceptable, any independent thought or diversion from acceptable thinking is attacked as being homophobic, sexist, racist or any other trendy “ist”.

What people like Phul fail to see (not surprising given he is a drug fucked wreck) is that the very generosity he lives by is being killed at a rapid rate of knots by this govt, there is an old saying about biting the hand that feeds you, middle NZ have had enough of being told what to think and when to think it, they have had enough of being taken for a ride by bludging wankers and enough of seeing their money wasted.

  49. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Well said Bruv. What we need is a party that will do everything you suggested above. The “Leave Me The Hell Alone” party. One of its first objectives would be the dismantling of the entire collectivist bureaucracy/ system of government, put in place by the left over the years and existing only to promote their stinking progressive political agenda. The Potemkin village built by the likes of Klark and her cronies needs to be razed, and new institutions dedicated to the preservation of individual liberty built in their place.

  50. philu (10,919) Says:

“..they have had enough of being taken for a ride by bludging wankers and enough of seeing their money wasted..”

doyareckon they’re going to tell the dairy industry to stop ‘trying it on’..?

    with their expectations of pollution-welfare..

    untill 2028..(!)

    ‘bludging wankers’..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  51. big bruv (9,836) Says:

The same dairy industry that is indirectly paying you the benefit Phul?

  52. Manolo (6,097) Says:

Whoar, I don’t feel sorry at all for you, but I do feel sorry for your unfortunate young son.

Having a father, supposedly a role-model, like yourself must be utterly demoralising and depressing. A zombie, who does nothing for a living other than smoking pot and who wastes his life writing a useless blog. What a tragedy!

You should be ashamed of yourself, but even shame is beyond you, lazy bludger.

  53. philu (10,919) Says:

    how’s the pushing-alcohol ‘business’/scam treating you..?..man-o-lo–?

would you like your offspring to follow your example..?

    and become booze-pushers..?

and hasn’t it been so unedifying..?

all these champions of ‘free-enterprise’/'the level playing field’.

    lining up for/lobbying for..

their share of this pollution-welfare handout..

(does ‘free-enterprise’ mean ‘free’ to them..?..)

their plaintive cries..to be included on this gravy-train..

..the gravy train that runs until 2028..(!)

with the rest of us being the mug-punters..

..doling out the gravy into their upturned/pleading/greedy mouths..

(the average ‘payout’ to these polluting/greedy dairy-bastards..

(who ‘can’t afford’ to pay to stop polluting..(!)

    ..was in excess of $700,000..(!)

why do you think ratty/bruvvy..and the other simians..have nothing to say about that..?

    ..eh..?

    “..happy days are here again..

    cos’ subsidies are here again..”

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  54. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“..happy days are here again.. cos’ subsidies are here again..”

For you maybe, with a family subsidised by every other family in NZ, who are compelled to give you the money they have earned and you have not, by the corrupt and cronyist politicians you vote for. When it comes to pollution, there’s nothing quite as destructive as the policies and ideology promoted by you and your brain damaged comrades.

  55. Ryan Sproull (4,702) Says:

I assume that everyone here in favour of people’s choice in what food they eat also supports cannabis decriminalisation?

  56. philu (10,919) Says:

nothing to say about that pollution-welfare for the rich..eh ratty..?

are you queueing up for your share..?

    (tell us it isn’t so..!..ratty..!..)

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  57. jafapete (765) Says:

Redbaiter, “Remember folks, the media are leftists, not truth bringers. (to anyone but the most extreme leftist dickwads that is) They won’t tell you anything unless they first spin it to suit the political outcome they and Helen Klark’s Labour Party desire, and that outcome of course is the personal destruction of John Key.”

Superlative stuff. But the masses see through this evil web of deception now — hence the current polls. Which raises the question of why you are in the least bit concerned what TVOne News headlines tonight.

A note on grammar, because you do quite well most of the time, Redbaited. It should be: (To anyone but the most extreme leftist dickwads that is.)

  58. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (633) Says:

“When you read the rants of Comrade Shriveled and attempt to read the shit produced by Comrade Phul you really have to wonder about their sanity.”
That coming from some one who sees communists everywhere! Brilliant!

  59. big bruv (9,836) Says:

    Jafa

“raises the question of why you are in the least bit concerned what TVOne News headlines tonight”

The news is all bad Comrade Jafa, John Key could be charged with murder and he will still be elected PM in November, yes your pinko pals are obeying he instructions of Klark and the dykeocracy yet the reality is that the public are not listening any longer.

  60. dad4justice (7,339) Says:

“A note on grammar, because you do quite well most of the time, Redbaited.”

Oh please jaffa, give the grammar the psycho Nandor hammer whack. Artificial lickspittle comment from a red covered hunk of stale chocolate. Get a life loser. Go put your make up on.

  61. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (633) Says:

    Ryan
please dont come in here with your logic and reasoning. It upsets the Kiwiblog “normals” (you know, the non-stupid, non-lefttard, superior in every way ‘right’)

  62. Ryan Sproull (4,702) Says:

Seems like a pretty clear parallel.

Isn’t the government stopping people from indulging in smoking cannabis – arguably unhealthy – a perfect example of the same kind of nanny-statism as dietary ones?

Aren’t those people saying, “I’ll eat whatever I like, whether it’s healthy or not, and the government has no right to tell me otherwise” identical to those saying, “I’ll smoke cannabis… etc.”?

How can you support nanny-statism with regard to cannabis and not with regard to food?

  63. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“Which raises the question of why you are in the least bit concerned what TVOne News headlines tonight.”

Well, now that they have been shamed on Kiwiblog Jafaboy, they probably won’t. The internet and the blogosphere are the change that the left can’t cope with. (Although your comrades in China think they have the answer in jailing bloggers who dare to criticize) Once the leftist mainstream media had the information and opinion market cornered, and were able to peddle their partisan bullshit relatively unchallenged. Now they have to watch it, as Dan Rather discovered when Free Republic bloggers (and others) exposed his fraudulent attempt to smear George Bush with fake documents.

The TV One newsroom, faithful to their political masters who fund them, will do all they can to smear John Key.

Perhaps the polling figures are a sign that more and more people are awakening to how they have been scammed by the counterfeit news outlet run by partisan left wing progressives that has dominated mainstream news in NZ for almost four decades. Not that the contemptible cowardly charlatans at TV3 are any better.

  64. philu (10,919) Says:

    so..ratty..that pollution-welfare question..?

are you lining up for your share..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  65. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

    “so..ratty..that pollution-welfare question..?”

The one based on false premises and underpinned not by logic or reason but by myth legend and the demented ravings of brain damaged religious zealots and (in your case Phil), losers seeking to avoid facing up to the reality of their own degenerate behaviour?? Fuck off and get a job dipshit.

  66. philu (10,919) Says:

so ratty..you still haven’t answered the question..

are you in line for any pollution-welfare..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  67. kiwi in america (1,634) Says:

You raise good points Redbaiter. By the way it was the guys at Powerlineblog who exposed the Rather “60 Minutes” hit piece on Bush.

philu – what message do you send you son by being on the DPB? That sucking on the teat of the state is a normal path to follow. I know numerous professional busy solo fathers who do a great job raising healthy children without a red cent of the taxpayers money to help them.

  68. philu (10,919) Says:

what do they do with them during school holidays..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  69. big bruv (9,836) Says:

    phul

“what do they do with them during school holidays..?”

Are you still using that lame arse excuse?,

Stop being a bludger Phul and start being a parent.

  70. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

Philu, There are plenty of work types you could do to fit the confines of school hours and holidays so there’s no excuse.
Your Labour Govt legalised prostitution so you could always part your cheeks for cash from home?

  71. philu (10,919) Says:

    answer the fucken question..

what do they do with them during school holidays..?

and any examples of those ‘jobs that fit in’..?

    aside from prostitution..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  72. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

They mince them up and make pies from them, or if they’re feeling kindly disposed, chain them to their beds. Dickwad.

  73. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

As you previously said you have no family to do it you can pay someone to look after them

  74. philu (10,919) Says:

you shouldn’t try humour ratty..you suck at it..

    um..!..pollution-welfare for ratty..?

    we’ll take your no answer/avoidance as a ‘yes’..shall we..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  75. philu (10,919) Says:

    you’re an idiot..!..starr..

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  76. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Phil’s lame arsed attempts to justify his bludging typify the problems that beset this country. Too many of its citizens have no will. Socialism has ripped the heart from NZ, and reduced it to a basket case nation with a large part of its population like Phil, sad brain damaged welfare and gummint dependent losers with no ability to imagine what life could be like outside the confines of socialism.

  77. kiwi in america (1,634) Says:

    philu
They take their own holidays at the same time in some instances. Other times the grandparents (retired) come and stay during the holidays. Others work out shared holiday arrangements with the ex and mother. Again others have close trusted friends or other family members (siblings) with children the same age as their children (cousins to the solo fathers’ children). Some are self-employed and so work from home more during the holidays or arrange their business trips to not occur during school holidays. One friend takes his son with him on business trips in the holidays and the boy loves it. Most use innovative combinations of all of the above.

The bottom line is phil they use their noggins and they come from a baseline that the State is the very LAST institution that should be supporting them. Where there is a will there is a way. If you really wanted to be in full time employment you easily could be and I’m sure you could create a reliable structure of supporting friends and family to assist. Working rather than living on welfare sends a message to children that this is what adults do – that they provide for themselves. It is interesting that welfare mothers, when encouraged into work in the US by welfare reform, various negative statistics declined such as jouvenile crime rates, youth chemical use/abuse and teen pregnancy rates fell. I believe you think you are doing the right thing but your son will cope fine if you work and you will be able to find ways to make it fit.

  78. big bruv (9,836) Says:

Start being a parent Phul, you set a shit example for your son, have you no shame?

  79. philu (10,919) Says:

    wow..!..they must have ‘wicked jobs..

8 weeks at christmas..plus those 2-3 week breaks through the year..

who..aside from mp’s ..gets holidays like that..?

    no family to help..

    so..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  80. Ryan Sproull (4,702) Says:

    Just asking again:

Is the current nanny-statism regarding cannabis a good thing?

  81. philu (10,919) Says:

big bruv..!..you still haven’t told us if you or big bro..is ‘the pretender’ to the large sibling nome de guerre…

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  82. big bruv (9,836) Says:

    Phul

    “so”

Get a fucking job man, do what others do and take your annual leave at the same time as his school holidays and then you can arrange child care for the rest of the time.

Stop making weak excuses and start being a proper bloody parent, millions of others manage it Phul there is NO reason why you should not be doing the same.

  83. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

Philu, I have a well paid job and am a solo dad managing school hours and holidays. You cant get your shit together to look after one child and a job.
an idiot? yep I suppose youre right, because I’m paying for my own kids, as well as you and yours.
The up side however is my kids don’t, and wont look at me as a dead beat dad who sucks off the system – something you have to look forward to

  84. big bruv (9,836) Says:

    Ryan

What is your point re Cannabis?

The vast majority do not want that poison (Cannabis) to be legalised, that is democracy in action.

What Labour and the Greens are pushing is something that the vast majority DO NOT want.

  85. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“I believe you think you are doing the right thing ”

I don’t think so. His writing reeks of self deceit, most notably with his constant use of the word “we” when he should use “I”. All socialists do this. Its an attempt to delude themselves that the views they hold are shared by some huge imaginary crowd of cheering supporters. A deliberate self deceit. Like sheep, they are afraid to stand out from the herd, or like whitebait, are afraid to swim against the ideological tide, or like lemmings, are determined to stay in lockstep with the other self destructive travelers. They constantly seek the perceived safety of the collective. His attempts to use his son to justify his lack of will are just the self serving garbage of a useless lazy narcissistic commie dope freak. And he knows it.

  86. kiwi in america (1,634) Says:

    philu
Stop being so pathetically helpless. Move to where family is even if overseas. Surely you have reliable friends. Give up the dak so you’ll be more motivated to work. Many people in paid employment use child care centres if the child is younger and even though there is a cost, a good job for most people covers it. If your son is a teenager, help him get a holiday job so he’s working when you are. I never had a problem getting holiday work and neither do all the resourceful teenagers I know today. You are a walking talking case of why welfare benefits are so pervasive and destructive. The state has sapped your will to do what men have done since the beginning of time and that is WORK!!

  87. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

    “wow..!..they must have ‘wicked jobs..
8 weeks at christmas..plus those 2-3 week breaks through the year..”

Gee Philu, how does that leave compare to yours?

  88. Manolo (6,097) Says:

I don’t have any problem whatsoever legalising cannabis and other drugs.

On the other hand, the consequences of excessive consumption (e.g., mental feebleness, of which philu is a prime example) must be assumed by the users. In other words, don’t ask me to pay for your wrong choices, habits and vices in life.

If you want to become a loser, a leech, a parasite living off the effort of others, be my guest, but I shall strongly refuse to pay for your fornightly welfare benefit.

  89. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

    He’s gone to KFC.

  90. thehawkreturns (162) Says:

Another opportunity for National to clearly state that this Bill/Act will be revoked.

    Another opportunity lost?

  91. philu (10,919) Says:

    “..Another opportunity lost?..”

are you talking about the upcoming failure to gain power by national..?

and how about that key..?..and the aussie p.r. trouts telling him what to do all the time..?..eh..?

and doncha love how the aussie p.r. trouts market him as ‘being his own man’..?

    oh the irony/cynicism..!..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  92. Ryan Sproull (4,702) Says:

    Big Bruv,

Would you approve of dietary legislation imposed on 100% of New Zealanders if more than 50% of New Zealanders were in favour of it?

  93. big bruv (9,836) Says:

    Ryan

No, but then I live in a democracy (of sorts) and there is no law (yet) that demands that I fall desperately in love with every piece of legislation in the land.
Anyway, what had 50% got to do with justifying anything?, maggot Bradford passed a law that 83% of the population hate.

  94. Ryan Sproull (4,702) Says:

    Big Bruv,

Your justification to me of cannabis being illegal was that the majority rules. I’m asking if you’d apply the same standard to dietary legislation. You said:

“The vast majority do not want that poison (Cannabis) to be legalised, that is democracy in action.”

I was asking the people in the thread if their opposition to nanny-statism regarding diet scans over to opposition to nanny-statism regarding cannabis.

  95. philu (10,919) Says:

don’t ask them ‘complicated’ questions like that ryan..

the poor dears will all come down with brain-freeze..!

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  96. expat (3,684) Says:

phil, which PR cronies did labour use when hey could afford them (while spending taxpayers cash on advertising and the little red book), the last two elections?

Or did they rely on the brains trust at labour HQ? lol.

Of course the state should discourage fat and unvaccinated people – by taxing them more. The gummint taxes petrol, booze, tobacco and would tax pot in an instance of they could.

Personal freedoms are always held in check by a rational democracy however the counterpoint is that a gummint who curtails too many freeedoms gets sent packing a la Hulun and Mikhael.

  97. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,528) Says:

The New Zealand economy is shrinking and what’s the top priority of Labour and the Greens?

    More Nanny State!

The real problem is that laws like this are going to take up real valuable time for the National/Act government to undo. It’s more economic sabotage from Labour and the Greens, it’s tantamount to treason.

Keep up the smiles though, the Labour/Green nightmare is almost over.

  98. philu (10,919) Says:

    expat..

these slimeballs who key is relying on to handle/direct his ‘spin’/political career..

..are the same ones who told john howard to tell the big lie..

..to tell australians..that the tampa refugees had thrown their babies/children into the sea..

(this lie to ‘sell’ howards’ strong anti-immigrant policies..

    ..and it ‘worked’..)

thus..these public relations trouts running keys’ political life have proven there is no lie too big..

.. as long as you ‘win’..

    now..with this new knowledge/awareness..

..how can we now look at key..when he says anything..

..and not wonder just whose words/spin he is parroting..?

and hey..!..guess who in aussie will have had some ‘urgent’ phone-calls from john key..yesterday..

    eh..?

    (hint:..rhymes with wanker..)

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  99. expat (3,684) Says:

So who *did* labour use to run their election campaign spin last election (and how did they pay for it?) when they played dirty with brash who is quite evidently a nice old gent of old fashioned values who refused to get in the gutter with labour

This is playing out as a labour character assassination using emotive words and pictures like dead babies and poor refugees and evil old john howard and big neo rightist PR firms.

BUT, the punters are not swallowing it guys.

The 9th floor brains trust aping last elections strategy huh?

  100. dad4justice (7,339) Says:

“and hey..!..guess who in aussie will have had some ‘urgent’ phone-calls from john key..yesterday..

    eh..?

Well I’m convinced now that phool’s drug induced coma has been brought about by Soviet ideologues and a bong treatment programme that trains the delinquent in the virtues of communism . This makes him hilariously unfunny and a traitor.

    d4j..meds..!,,now..!

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  102. expat (3,684) Says:

I thought it would be up your alley.

But, who did hulun and mikhaels spin last election? Wasn’t that nicked from UK labour with some bits from Australia courtesy of a big pr spin firm?

Didnt huluns chief pr guru jump ship soon after? I hear difference of opinion with some chief of staff type people…

  103. dad4justice (7,339) Says:

    “d4j..meds..!,,now..!”

That’s the kind of answer I’d expect from Sue Bradford at a Select Committee hearing. You lefty cowards have no mettle when confronted by the cold steel of truth!

  104. philu (10,919) Says:

yes expat..labour also use p.r. trouts..

    ..but there are trouts..and trouts..

..and this crew..and their baby-throwing lies.. is generally recognised as the nadir of the ‘profession’..eh..?

that..and that key has been getting instructions from them since day one..

…and that they are the same trouts who directed brash into his race-baiting ways..

    ..is what makes the’difference’ here..

and d4j..you know that when you start using the words ‘soviet’..and ‘indoctrination’..that you are about to have a ‘turn’..

    take your meds..!

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  105. dad4justice (7,339) Says:

Hey you drugged up piece of dumb arse where did I use the word “indoctrination” ? You are pathetic, and you’re the typical spineless made in New Zealand WIMP !!

Edit; Any REAL POLITICIANS do NOT NEED BULLSHIT SPIN DOCTORS.

  106. philu (10,919) Says:

sorry..’ideologue’..and..you can add ‘traitor’ to the list of ‘trigger-words’..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  107. expat (3,684) Says:

lots of squealing from the cornered labour piglets – the teats going away.

  108. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“and this crew..and their baby-throwing lies.. is generally recognised as the nadir of the ‘profession’..eh..?”

“Generally recognised” pffft.. what an abject lie. The claim that the PR firm is in disrepute is merely left wing propaganda and not the unchallengeable fact that doped out freaks and extreme left communist dupes like Phil and the pitiful Stalinist/ Soviet style morons at the Standard would claim it as. They’re (Phil and The Standard) merely engaging in their usual yellow strategy of lies and smears and personal destruction, an outcome that typically befalls any person or organisation that stands firm against the left’s powerful political and social ascendancy.

  109. philu (10,919) Says:

    gee reddy..they also ran brashs’ race/immigrant-baiting exercises….

..and that (well-documented) 05 campaign by national/brash of ‘tell them what they want to hear..then we’ll just go gangbusters after the election’..

um..!…and now..in this campaign…we are getting the same old..?..same old..?

smells like dead fish..?..looks like dead fish..?

    probably is dead fish..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  110. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Its just propaganda Phil, and you’re just a worthless lying propagandist.

  111. philu (10,919) Says:

“..merely engaging in their usual yellow strategy of lies and smears and personal destruction..”

    hey ratty..!..that’s you..!

    that’s what you do best..!..innit..?

    you never discuss/argue issues..

you just launch into your cartoonish tirades/personal attacks..

i am actually quite impressed with your ability to say the same/one thing..nearly 3,000 times..

    whoar..!

don’t you get sick of the sound of your own tirades..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  112. philu (10,919) Says:

    and um..reddy..this p.r.firm got fined $80,000 for running a push-polling campaign..

..where they rang people..and asked them if they would still support the labour candidate..if they knew she supported abortion to the 8th month of pregnancy..(!)

all lies of course..but the targetted candidate lost..

these are the people who are directing the political life/attitudes/spin of key/the national party..

just telling the new zealand people what the focus groups tell them they want to hear..

and you reckon that’s no cause for concern..?

    whoar..!

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  113. Manolo (6,097) Says:

Whoar, you seem more demented than ever today (is that possible?)

Get dressed you loser and get out looking for a job. I’ve never seen a more pathetic example of a bludger, who appears very proud of being a useless drain on society.

  114. RRM (4,107) Says:

Well I for one *like* the reassurance of a country with a public health system in place, but I don’t believe that lazy fat people wearing the consequences of their own making are very worthy recipients of the public health budget, so if these regulations would lead to either

    (1) other priorities than treatment for ailments that are a direct consequence of eating sh*t for years, or
    (2) making it harder for ignorant and/or stupid people to shovel sh*t into their fat faces, so that (1) is less likely to arise,

then I am actually rather in favour!!!.
While I admire the optimistic spirit of those with enough faith in human nature that they see no need for “nanny state” to spell out your obligations to your fellow citizens with rules and regulations, I fear that a great many of the general unwashed are far, far from worthy of this faith that you have in them…. a lot of people out there are VERY ignorant and VERY selfish!

You can call it “nanny state” if you like, but that only makes it seem like you are immediately lumping it in with the general “right” view of regulations and services, and let me assure you people switch off when you start talking right-wing cliches :-)

  115. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,528) Says:

In case people haven’t noticed, Labours pursuit of “Nanny State” is costing it points in the polls. At the end of the day it just increases the margin of its loss to National/ACT on election day.

Good to see that Labour has no clue as to how to turnaround its fortunes in the polls. It just keeps doing the same old tired policies and people are sick of it. The economy is tanking, people are finding it hard to pay the bills on struggle street, and the Helaban continues to preach that they know best.

Guess what? The voters know better and in four months they’re going to send that message loud and clear.

At least Labour will have plenty of excuses for their dismal failure. :D

  116. philu (10,919) Says:

yeah..but did you see that stuff about john key..?

..and the ‘baby-throwing’ aussie bullshit artists..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  117. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,528) Says:

    Clutching at straws stuff.

The election was a dead heat last time. Repeating the same old shit won’t save Labour this time around.

Thanks to Cullen’s management, the economy has turned to custard. New Zealand is in recession and people are hurting. It’s time for a change. National won’t take a hit in the polls because of this manufactured story. The phone is still off the hook.

    Try again Labour.

    no oecd..it won’t be a lab/nat ‘dead heat’..this time..

we’ll end up with a lab/green/maori party coalition..

cos’..y’see..national has no coalition partners..and will only go downhill in the polls between now and the election..

    remember..!

    this is m.m.p..!

    (chin-up..!..eh..?..)

Keep on bludging there phil. Labour and the Greens are a spent force. The voters are going to deliver a good smack to both of them come October/November.

It is possible that a snap election is called earlier. I mean, there is risk that the bad economic news will just keep flooding in the closer you get to October/November. The Greens have no solutions to the current New Zealand recession, apart from rolling the country back to year zero. By the way the UK managed positive growth in GDP for the first quarter, so there is some indication of how lame Cullen’s management of the economy has been.

    Time for a change.

    Tick tock tick tock.
