Backbenches Tonight
July 30th, 2008 at 3:30 pm by David FarrarThe four MPs tonight are:
- Paula Bennett (National)
- Russell Fairbrother (Labour)
- Dail Jones (NZ First)
- Gordon Copeland (Kiwi Party)
The topics are
- Winston Peters and those financial contributions
- National promising to continue with Working for Families plus a tax cut
- The flying visit of Condeleezza Rice … we’re an “ally” now … what does that mean?
People wanting to attend in person should head down to the Backbencher pub between 8 and 8.30pm. It is broadcast on TVNZ7 just after 9 pm live.
I won’t be making it myself as a group of us are going to see the Batman movie tonight. I think this will become the highest grossing movie of all time – it has made US$452 million in less than a fortnight already!

The Kiwi Party is a party that listens to the voters unlike Labour and National.
I see National has promised a referendum on MMP.
What they have not said is whether they will take any more notice of the results than they will of the results on the upcoming referendum on Bradford’s anti smacking law which National supported.

The Kiwi Party is the Christian Democrats, formed in 1995.
The Christian Democrats contested the 1996 election with Christian Heritage as the Christian Coalition. They broke from this and were renamed Future NZ, merged to form United Future, then split to reform Future NZ. Last year they refused to join The Family Party (the united Christian party contesting this election) after extensive negotiations broke down. chose to go it alone again and were finally renamed to The Kiwi Party after the Electoral Commission ruled there could be confusion between UF and FNZ names. I hope that helps Dime, but it might just confuse matters more!

It means our military are fighting a common enemy together (NZ troops under US command) in spite of Dear Leaders puss faced denials.
This is called being “allied’. A term socialists have tried to newspek from our languge.
Fail, add to the list.

More probably it means that the US is looking at China’s diplomatic activities south of the equator a lot more closely and are shoring up their position diplomatically, and this is nothing more than a visible sign of that. As to fighting, well lets be honest, our forces are more of a liability than an asset in a war thanks to a few decades of lack of vision followed by lack of defence spending.

The Kiwi Party is an endangered species just like its namesake.
Speaking of newspeak, what’s all this shite in the House today from those Labour fucknuckles calling themselves ‘Team Labour’? Reminded me of that great movie ‘Team America’ without the laughs…

Buggerlugs (11:15pm) – well they’re all too stupid or lazy to do any work as individuals, so now it’s down to…”Team Labour”. It’s nothing new, they’ve always relied on some other poor sucker to do all the real work.
