Gordon Brown is a goner
July 25th, 2008 at 1:25 pm by David FarrarUK Labour have lost the Glasgow East by-election despite a 13,507 majority. This seat was in their top 5% in terms of size of majority – 25th safest.
They are calling for a recount as the majority is only 354, but that is a reasonable amount to overcome. The Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) are in the lead. The Conservatives are fighting the Lib Dems for third place. This is Glasgow!
If the loss is confirmed, Gordon Brown will not survive until the election. Tony Blair must be smiling. Already the knives are out.

Bloody hell, now THAT is a shock. Brown’s toast, the grumpy old git and he may well be the PM who kicked-off the break-up of the United Kingdom…helluva legacy. Maybe he has been a really successful SNP sleeper all these years.

Just got off the phone to a mate in Glesca. He’s drunk as a lord and for once it’s happiness rather than whisky that’s fuelling it. “We gev they smug, arrogant bassas a kicking” seems to be the main thrust of the message. I wonder how many will be saying similar here in November?

There are amazing parallels between what is happening in the UK and what is happening in New Zealand. Gordon Brown will still be drawing the Prime Minister’s cheques after Hels has been given the boot in November. Labour is going to lose and lose big both in New Zealand and the UK.
On a side note, looks like the UK isn’t going to have a recession unlike New Zealand which will be struggling for one quarter of positive growth in 2008. It’s economic mismanagement by both Labour parties that will result in the voters registering their dissatisfaction and voting them out.
