Scampi Inquiry Video

August 31st, 2008 at 9:46 pm by David Farrar

Few would be surprised that the never aired TVNZ interview alleging perjury before the scampi select committee inquiry has made its way onto the Internet, and is on various video sharing sites and political blogs.

Neither TVNZ nor TV3 have shown it, but I suspect many New Zealanders will get to view it on the Internet, as it is near impossible to kill off material once it has appeared online.

The allegations and issues around the scampi inquiry are too serious to ignore. The next Government, regardless of who is in power, should order a full judicial inquiry into the issues and allegations. There may be nothing to them, but if that is the case, then those accused should welcome the chance to have their names and reputations cleared.

PS: Please do not place links to the videos in the comments, as there is some legal risk in doing so.

Good work by Whaleoil – he has courage – this will give Clark another sleepless night and she will look uglier than usual tomorrow morning. I just heard Whaleoil on Radio Live – I think this is huge – the story broke last week and now is just beginning – Winston is up to his neck in it – he makes Philip Field look like a pussy cat by comparison.

So the question is – Did Clark Know about this tape? and if so why did she not act upon it? It isinconceivable that she would not have known – especially when you consider that it is her lackies on the Board of TVNZ that would have kept her informed. She needs to come clean about what she knew and why she did nothing. Or does she have another secret agenda? Is she yet again going to be less than honest about the full truth? This matter needs an urgent debate in parliament to get everything out there.

Question time thios week will be a doozy.

the best words may be “suppressed”, ” scampi” ,” Inquiry” and “NZ” and that may assist is locating the video on just about any video share site such as the well known and commonly known. It is massive and I hope it become the nightmare for Clark. I think it will be big enough to bring down the government – especially if it can be linked back to Clark and what did she know and when? (Would the Board of TVNZ really not have told the Labour Government – especially as Labour had Anne Hercus on the Board to keep the Government informed of such matters of signicance.

Portia – Peters intiated the select committee inquiry essentially called Peter Siminovich a crook and then all of a sudden mid way through the Select Committee process changed his tune. All this was based on the evidence the Peter Crapper gave which he now says was lies.

Whaleoil has a point, how come after all that, would Winston stop Rodney asking Question 5 the other day? The dots are being connected and Winston is in it deep.

I thought that this video interview was aired some years back. I recalled seeing the same guy (fisherman) either on 60 Minutes or Sunday current affair program being interviewed where made the same allegation that he was being told to lie about his scampi quota by Simunovich. Either this video is a completely different one to the one that was shown on TV a few years back (but with the same fisherman) or otherwise it’s the same video interview but most people forgot that it had been already on air.

Or in their lefty delusional state are they just priming the NZ population for a subtle on-going anti-american campaign should McCain win? The MSM media is a shameful example of the profession.

Winston was right about one thing: certain people in the MSM should be sacked or resign for not asking questions.

  48. Portia (204) Says:

Sorry guys, I know many of you WANT these allegations to be true, and what I’m about to write is a bit like taking your train set away. But….

So far the “evidence” appears to amount to the interview recorded by TVNZ (which does not mention WP at all), Rodney’s questions in Parliament (which so far are not backed by any substantiated facts), rumours that a self-confessed perjurer has alleged that he handed over money in exchange for favours (we haven’t even seen evidence of the claim itself yet) and WP’s pulling of his punches midway into the Select Committee hearing (which although out of character, could just as easily have been due to the Committee’s inability to find a shred of evidence of corruption because, as Crapper claims, he and his mates told a pack of porkies).

In total, this amounts to nothing more than innuendo, pure and simple. It’s not even circumstantial. The SFO has to meet a minimum “cause to suspect” test before it can start an investigation. I can’t see that any of this would even satisfy that threshold – I mean, how much weight can an independent and unbiased investigator properly give to the word of a man who has already admitted he is by name as he is by nature?

Which is not to say that there may be future developments which will cause me to revise this view. But allegations this serious should never, ever be made lightly, not matter how much we may dislike a person (or, in this case, no matter how casual that person himself has been with other people’s reputations).

… bring on your negative karma.
