Sarah Palin rumours debunked Add this story to Scoopit!.

A Charlie Martin has set up a page listing and confirming or debunking all the rumours about Sarah Palin. I suggest anyone writing about her in the media check with this page, before repeating something that is false.

Here are some of the debunked rumours:

  1. No she wasn’t a member of the (wild-eyed libertarian) Alaska independence Party, although her husband once was
  2. No, she was never a Pat Buchanan supporter; even when Buchanan claims she was, she was on the board of Steve Forbes’a campaign in Alaska.
  3. No, she’s not anti-semitic. In fact, she has an Israeli flag in her office. (Contrary to popular belief, the usual Evangelical thinks Israel has a right to exist, granted by God.)
  4. No, she’s doesn’t believe that the Iraq War was directed by God. Yes, she did pray that proceeding with the war was God’s will. (Ever hear the phrase “Not my will, but Thine, be done”?)
  5. No, Buchanan doesn’t support her now; in fact he’s supporting Obama. (Buchanan did think her speech was amazing, but then so do 80 percent of the people who saw it.)
  6. yes, she was pregnant when she got married
  7. Yes, barring immaculate conception, Bristol appears to have had sex with her fiancee. No, Bristol didn’t receive only “abstinence-only” sex ed.
  8. yes, she did fire the public safety guy — but he said in the Anchorage paper that, for the record, she never, and no one else in her administration ever, tried to make him fire her ex-brother-in-law
  9. and yes, the state trooper (her sister’s ex-husband) she was worried about did: tase her 10 year old nephew; drive his state patrol car while drinking or drunk; did threaten to “bring her down”; and did threaten to murder her father and sister if they dared to get an attorney to help with the divorce.
  10. No, she didn’t cut funding for unwed mothers; yes, she did increase it by “only” 354 percent instead of 454 percent, as part of a multi-year capital expenditures program. No, the Washington Post doesn’t appear to have corrected their story. Even after this was pointed out in the comments on the story.
  11. No, she didn’t cut special needs student funding; yes, she did raise it by “only” 175 percent.
  12. yes, she did ask the librarian if some books could be withdrawn because of being offensive; no, they couldn’t; yes she did threaten to fire the librarian a month later; no, that wasn’t over the books thing but instead over administrative issues; no, the librarian wasn’t fired either; yes, the librarian was a big supporter of one of her political opponents; yes, the librarian was also the girlfriend of the Chief of police mentioned above; no, this is not the first time in the history of civilization that someone has been threatened with being fired over a political dispute
  13. yes, she’s an was an Assembly of God Holy Roller. No, she doesn’t attend an AoG church now. Yes, she did leave the AoG because they were getting too weird for her.
  14. yes, she apparently believes in some variant of Intelligent Design
  15. no, she didn’t try to force the schools to teach it; she said if someone brought it up, it was an appropriate subject for debate.
  16. No, she doesn’t believe in “abstinence only” education. Yes, she thinks abstinence is an effective way of preventing pregnancy. Duh. Yes, she believes kids should learn about condom use in schools.
  17. yes, she kills animals and eats them, and wears their skins
  18. yes, she has on occasion tried to get money from the federal government.
  19. yes, she did finally turn down the money for the bridge. Yes, that meant changing her mind about it.
  20. yes, she was vetted extensively, not just in three days — I’ve got links to press reports about people coming to Wassila on 29 May, and we had her on our Veepstakes at PJM from the first day we ran it.
  21. Yes, Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech was written by a speechwriter. Duh. No, none of Obama’s, McCain’s, nor Biden’s speeches were impromptu off the cuff things either.

This is where the blogosphere can come into its own. It is the ability to specialise, to be the reference point on one small topic very well, and everyone then links to you. Martin has had huge traffic since the big US blogs started linking to his Palin Rumours page.

Talking of debunking rumours, Snopes is worth subscribing to. Also excellent.

yes, she apparently believes in some variant of Intelligent Design

    AHA!! Got her!

    tee hee

(not a serious response, before the heavy crew jump on me)

    Although:

No she wasn’t a member of the (wild-eyed libertarian) Alaska independence Party, although her husband once was

Somehow this makes her far less interesting.

  2. Danyl Mclauchlan (742) Says:

I’m curious DPF – all the stupid rumours and spin aside, do you REALLY think picking Palin to be the Vice Presidential candidate is a Good Idea?

[DPF: Yes I actually do. I like most of what she did in Alaska. I don't get too upset that she is anti abortion etc as almost everyone in the GOP is. I have stated I do think she would be inexperienced to take over should McCain die on Inauguration Day, However I don't think that is likely and think she has the ability to pick up the necessary experience in a relatively short time.

She may bomb out, if she is shown to be woefully ignorant on issues should should know about. But I think she also has the ability to connect with middle class America in a way none of Obama, Biden or McCain can]

  3. BlairM (695) Says:

How long before Craig Ranapia weighs in about what an awful candidate she is? *raises eyebrow*

You still have to prove to us that she isn’t a reptilian shapeshifter, or bloodline illuminati ;-)

    Hunting WOLVES from AIRCRAFT?!!

That is just so exceedingly COOL!!!!!!

    If I didn’t like her before goddamnit I think she’s awesome now. :o P

  8. goodgod (1363) Says:

Meanwhile, in the windowless office of an unofficially leftwing media group, a reporter yawns and goes back to creating his next headline: “Is Sarah Palin too attractive to be VP?”

  9. Murray (4735) Says:

If Palin was running on the Dems ticket Bristols boyfriend would say “I did not have sex with that woman” and that would be end to it.

  10. BlairM (695) Says:

Murray, how do we know Bill Clinton’s NOT the father? :o P

  11. Ross Miller (1315) Says:

When the Palin candidacy was announced the MSM hooked into her … after her acceptance speech to the the GOP Convention they went feral. Nothing was off limits to the point where there was even media speculation that her young son was conceived as a result of an incestuous relationship. Nice one.

Even happened here with the ‘virtuous’ left trying to outdo each after in peddling shock horror story after shock horror story. Our resident ‘bum’ philu chimes in with a range of her supposed misdemeanours citing as proof entries on his blog written by no less a person than himself. I mean what more proof do you need?

So well done guys. Feeling proud are we? Well sorry to disappoint, your completely over the top reaction and your determination to go for the wo(man) and not the ball has backfired big time with McCain now heading Obama in the polls …

    http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/07/gallup-daily-poll-gives-mccain-largest-margin-since-ma-over-obama/

Keep up the good work fellas. It’s really resonating out there in voter land not.

  12. Murray (4735) Says:

Smear and sneer is all the left have Ross. Doesn’t matter which country its what they do.

Which is why they’re all going down.

  13. Thomas the Unbeliever (48) Says:

Any chance of creating a definitive list of WP’s lies in the same way? Most people have lost track of some of the biggies like ferry groundings and submarines. Just how many times has a court found Winston’s version of the truth unbelievable?

  14. philu (7432) Says:

“..Our resident ‘bum’ philu chimes in with a range of her supposed misdemeanours citing as proof entries on his blog written by no less a person than himself. I mean what more proof do you need?..”

going for the big lie there..eh millar..?

apart from the one written by me..where i make the case john mccain is really hank hills’ father..

everyone of the 50+ palin stories are linked/sourced..

    as always on whoar..

..i leave it to the readers to make their own minds up..

..i just present the (always) linked/sourced evidence..

(thanks for giving me the opportunity to ‘clear that up’..eh..?..)

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

    so no ross..

it isn’t ‘entries on his blog written by no less a person than himself.’..

  15. GerryandthePM (315) Says:

Any plans for Palin to give an address in Europe?

Or is that just for Democrats?

  16. philu (7432) Says:

does palin know where/what europe is..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  17. LabourDoesntWork (117) Says:

Hey I’ve got a new rumour which just might be true:

The left-wing hate Palin machine is full of crap!

  18. metcalph (435) Says:

does philu know that drugs are bad for him..?

  19. pushmepullu (683) Says:

Fuck you left wingers are crapping your pants aren’t you. The fact is that Palin is the best bet we have to tear America out of the grip of the left-wing elite who taken control and finally get things back on track. I can understand your being terrified. Fucking little crying piss-stains.

  20. Bevan (1937) Says:

One wonders why the US MSM sat on the Edwards affair story as long as they did, yet rushed with gusto to broadcast the story regarding Palin’s 17yo daughter. Left wing media bias? So it aint so guv!

  21. gd (2286) Says:

It wonderful how the LEFTIES are crapping their pants big time. They just cant deal with a real person like Sarah Palin rather then the cardboard cutout cartoon Obama figure

Hence the failed attempts to smear her.

And arent the LEFTIES such a bunch of 2 faced bull shit artists.

They can dish it out but they cry like babies if anyone dares to return fire.

Face it LEFTIES Obamas a token Thats all just a lite weight token to appease the socalled liberals who are everything but liberals.

A plaything for the LEFTIES to have in the Whitehouse So they can say Look who we elected Arent we just the liberals all embracing good guys and gals

Thats all they are. Go big John and Sarah The world needs real people not the plastic replicas of the LEFT

  22. philu (7432) Says:

    key is our palin..eh..?

  23. grumpyoldhori (1113) Says:

So she is just like the normal female Nat type ?
Or is she George Bush in lipstick ?
So how many of you nat supporting types still believe dubya is the greatest
President the US has had ?
America’s Thatcher as the repub types are saying ?

  24. Bevan (1937) Says:

    ..the ‘inexperience’ thing..?

… So how about Obami’s CV (or lack thereof) then eh….

    Whoar

  25. philu (7432) Says:

    yes bevan..but key is here..

..not thousands of miles away in america..

didyaknow key is the most inexperienced..by a country mile..ever to try for the job..?

    there’s your ‘whoar!’..

    ..eh?..

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  26. Hagues (489) Says:

    Philu “as always on whoar..

..i leave it to the readers to make their own minds up..”

Plural?? Would that be the Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster? Perhaps Man-bear-pig? Or were you speaking hypothetically?

  27. Bevan (1937) Says:

    yes bevan..but key is here..

..not thousands of miles away in america..

didyaknow key is the most inexperienced..by a country mile..ever to try for the job..?

Really? What makes Key so inexperienced?

  28. Strutta (67) Says:

    philu…
…hope you posted the one about SP swatting a mosquito…
    …animal cruelty you know…
…got sworn affidavits for those you did post?….
…got to stand up to legal evidence standards…
…..that’s if you want anyone to believe…
    whoar…eh?

  29. DJP6-25 (112) Says:

Compare the Liberal Media’s nonreaction to ‘Father of the Year’ John Edwards, and their hysteriafest within an hour of Sarah
Palin being announced as John McCain’s VP choice. It’s very obvious they’re in the tank for Barrack Obama. As long as they have a D after their name, anything goes.

To some extent Sarah Palin is like the kind of politician the Founding Fathers envisioned. Someone who enters poloitics to fix a perceived problem; or for reasons of civic duty. Today ofcourse, most US politicians are there for life, especially those tied to ‘City Machines’.

  30. philu (7432) Says:

    inexperienced in politics..

    it shows all the time..

..especially how he is being played by the factions in national..

..and one explanation for the leaks etc..

..is that a ‘long game’ for factions..

..would be to lose this election..

..cos’ there is no way key will hang around for another three years on the opposition benches..

..i’m surprised no m.s.m. person has asked key that ‘what if?’ question yet..

..but anyway..a key example of keys’ political inexperience is that he is party leader..

..but he is not in charge..is not leading..his party..

..he is being ‘played’ by the factions..

..that’s the thing about a party running secret agendas..

..is that there are agendas within agendas..

    and as for key..?

    ..live by the secret agenda..

    ..die by the secret agenda..

    ..eh..?

  32. lloydois (239) Says:

“The fact is that Palin is the best bet we have to tear America out of the grip of the left-wing elite who taken control ”

Dontcha just love it. After 8 years of Bush it’s the left wing elite who are in control…..and by ‘you people’ I guess I should qualify that though I suspect it applies to more than a few loonies who comment on here.

You can’t make this stuff up…..you people are fucking insane by any definition.

  33. scrubone (171) Says:

For those that are tempted to have a look at Phil’s links, don’t bother.

He’s simply repeating the crazy crap that this post rebuts.

  34. lloydois (239) Says:

It’s those uppity Liberals who are the problem. Cindy McCain may be dripping in 300K worth of accessories but hey it’s the liberal elite we have to worry about. They have NO idea about real American values. As that paradigm of small town America Rudy suggested, Obama is just way too cosmopolitan.

  35. grumpyoldhori (1113) Says:

    A American conservative writes,
(** Did I say anything about the Ivy League? I don’t think academic credentials matter at all in the presidency. (Unlike eg the Supreme Court or the Federal Reserve.) I even believe that there is rapidly diminishing marginal utility for IQ. Clinton was surely smarter than FDR, Nixon smarter than Reagan, Adams smarter than Washington. We are talking about a particular set of decision-making skills – and there is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that Palin possesses them. Worse, from my point of view, is the assumption that because she is a conservative Christian that she therefore has intelligent conservative views on every other subject, from what to do with Fannie Mae to what to do about Iran. That’s a greater leap of faith than I can make.)
    http://frum.nationalreview.com/

  36. scrubone (171) Says:

The 300k outfit is nonsense – she was wearing one piece of jewelry that was supposed to be worth 299k or something. That’s assuming it was real.

  37. Hagues (489) Says:

scrubone “For those that are tempted to have a look at Phil’s links, don’t bother.”

Heh good times. I see you are new here.

  38. lloydois (239) Says:

I would hope it was real scrubone. Surely she has some standards!

I live in a country where the woman a heartbeat away from power is Julia Gillard. The alternative is Julie Bishop. Either suggesting teaching creationism or trying to implement a law that prevents woman access to abortion in case of rape would be electoral poison.

You gotta feel sorry for the choice Americans have.

Little known facts about Sarah Palin…

    Jonco September 5th, 2008
    Did you know that…

Sarah Palin does not have 5 kids, she actually has 7. Their names are Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper, Trig, Chuck Norris, and Jack Bauer.

The Russians sold Alaska to America because Sarah Palin would not submit to autocracy.

Sarah Palin is allowed first dibs on Alaskan wolfpack kills.

Sarah Palin is the “other” whom Yoda spoke about.

Sarah Palin’s presence in the lower 48 means the Arctic ice cap can finally return.

Sarah Palin fired Jack Bauer because he was too soft in dealing with terrorists.

Sarah Palin’s pageant career ended early so other women could have a chance.

Sarah Palin’s son Track is going to Iraq after the Surge, because a Palin during the Surge would have been unfair.

Sarah Palin wears glasses lest her uncontrollable optic blasts slaughter everyone. (X-Men reference)

Sarah Palin actually has Big Foot in her freezer.

Sarah Palin gave a speech in Texas after her water broke before flying home to Alaska to give birth. (Actually true)

Sarah Palin keeps her hair in a beehive to hide her ninja weaponry.

Sarah Palin will personally open a homemade can of whoopass on Ahmadinejad, Putin, and Chavez as soon as she’s done making mooseburgers for her kids.

Sarah Palin will give birth to the man who will lead humanity’s war against the machines. (Terminator reference)

Three of Sarah Palin’s 5 kids came out sideways and she never flinched.

Global Warming doesn’t kill polar bears. Sarah Palin does. Generally with her bare hands.

Sarah Palin once won the Iditarod without any dogs. She simply willed the sled to victory.

Sarah Palin wears half the makeup that John Edwards wears and still looks like twice the woman he does.

  40. greenjacket (46) Says:

    Like I’ve written before:
Isn’t ANYONE remotely worried that McCain only spoke to her once before deciding? And the so-called ‘vetting’ that didn’t interview senior Alaskan Republicans? Or the fact that her claims to be a good governor have a lot to do with the fact that she is still only 20 months in the job and enjoying a massive oil bonanza?
I mean, this is a BIG decision – if a senior executive was to appoint his number 2 on the basis of “I spoke to her once and I heard some good things about her”, he’d be hauled before the Board with a “please explain”.
This strikes me as a gamble – not a measured decision.

Look – I think the Left’s attack on her has been despicable. But just because the Left has launched vile attacks doesn’t excuse conservatives from exercising their brains.

And Redbaiter – please note that I am a conservative before you respond with another of your rapid personality attacks.

  41. philu (7432) Says:

..you just stick with the international page in the herald..eh hagues..?

  42. lloydois (239) Says:

    Wise words……..http://obsidianwings.blogs.com/obsidian_wings/2008/09/surface-politic.html#more

  43. metcalph (435) Says:

Isn’t ANYONE remotely worried that McCain only spoke to her once before deciding?

Well Clinton spoke to Gore only once before offering him the job as Veep and nobody thought that was a bad decision. On the other hand Kerry spoke to Edwards many times and the choice was less than stellar. The same goes for Obama and Biden.

  44. metcalph (435) Says:

[Palin] strikes me as a gamble – not a measured decision.

So what? McCain was behind in the polls. Do you honestly believe that he would have gotten a surge in popularity if he had chosen anybody else? Romney would have turned off the south. Huckabee would have turned off the non-South (another southern governor? after clinton and bush??). Lieberman would have turned off the republican party. Rudy would have been denounced as the reincarnation of Cheney and Fred Thompson simply didn’t have the ability to sustain interest. Pawlenty and Ridge are doozers. Ashcroft would have energized the party at the expense of terrifying everybody else. The only other name that I can see is Bobby Jindal who has less governor experience than Palin and isn’t quite so attractive.

  45. metcalph (435) Says:

Frum: Worse, from my point of view, is the assumption that because she is a conservative Christian that she therefore has intelligent conservative views on every other subject, from what to do with Fannie Mae to what to do about Iran. That’s a greater leap of faith than I can make.

Odd. I thought Frum made exactly this leap of faith when he went to work for George Bush?

  46. Redbaiter (9301) Says:

Frum, pro choice and an advocate for “compassionate conservatism” is establishment. An insider with the Bush administration. The administration that increased government spending to record levels and expanded government to a record size. Sarah Palin scares the hell out of such people.

Mind you, he did say this the other day-

    Quote

So: a great success. [the republican Convention] Palin revealed one of the sharpest political talents the Republican party has seen in a generation. She electrified the hall and added a powerful asset to a troubled ticket.

    Unquote

  47. Redbaiter (9301) Says:

“And Redbaiter – please note that I am a conservative before you respond with another of your rapid personality attacks.”

Its not a personality attack to point out that you’re just repeating leftist bullshit. I’ve already posted information to counter your point, and so have other posters, yet you stubbornly repeat the same post and point as if there’s been no challenge at all. This makes you seem like someone with an axe to grind rather than an objective observer with an opinion to express. It also makes you look like a dunce, but I hesitate to say that directly because I don’t want to make you cry. Maybe you could get some lessons in courage from Sarah, who is having to put up a lot worse from all of your leftist buddies.

  48. Russell Brown (229) Says:

No, she didn’t cut special needs student funding; yes, she did raise it by “only” 175 percent.

Actually the legislature drew up a bill for new special-needs funding, based on the recommendations . She threatened to veto it (over a weirdly minor issue — it reads like a PR stunt), the legislature said it would override her veto, so she signed the bill.

But she now comes onto a campaign whose special-needs policy platform is risible (McCain actually claimed there was “strong evidence” that mercury causes autism this year). The Obama disabilities platform — and I know a little about this — is unbelievably good: not because its throws money ay anything, but because of what it gets right.

This “debunking” list is about as reliable as some rant on DailyKos, frankly. You’re better off reading the Alaskan papers and blogs yourself.

  50. Redbaiter (9301) Says:

Spew all the bile you want Mr. Brown. She’s going to be elected. (Ever heard of over-cooking?)

  51. tom hunter (686) Says:

Amazing. No sign of Russell for months on this blog and all of sudden he’s all over the place. Well, all over Sarah Palin.

Perhaps his presence is one answer to a question posed on a Palin thread here the other day:

why the hell do people down here give so much of a damn whether the left or right candidate wins in a country far far away?

The answer in this case being a variation on his best known blogging characteristic – that when his beloved Helen commits yet another indefensible act he goes all quiet about her and Labour and talks about something else. Anything else. And in this case what better subject than the relatively minor scandals of a faraway right-wing politician.

Illegally and unethically got a cop fired? You don’t say?

Perhaps she’s well on her way to being popular and competent!

  52. Redbaiter (9301) Says:

Good article on Palin and the suicidal dinosaur leftmedia here- [take out the 'remove this']

  53. Russell Brown (229) Says:

Amazing. No sign of Russell for months on this blog and all of sudden he’s all over the place.

If you think I have posted anything for months you haven’t been paying attention. And I’m hardly “all over the place” now.

I was actually trying to make a point: the debunking site is only marginally more reliable than some anti-Palin screed on Kos, and you’re better off reading the Alaskan blogs and newspapers. But, as usual, no one actually engaged my point and instead I was personally attacked.

Yes, I do think Palin is a poor choice, and I’m amused to for once be on the same page as Krauthammer, Frum and some of the Powerline commentators in thinking so.

They’ve kept her from interviews, and seem likely to closely stage-manage future press opportunities but overnight she told a campaign crowd that Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac had “gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers”, so the government had to move. This is more or less economic illiteracy. You could only say that if you didn’t have a clue about the issue. It’s not terribly encouraging.

But anyway, seeing as you clearly prefer the echo chamber model of discussion Tom, I’ll leave you to it.

  54. Redbaiter (9301) Says:

Waah waah, you said something nasty about Helen so I’m going home now.

  55. Murray (4735) Says:

Zounds! Such attacks are apparently spreading far beyond the VRWC:

(I guess you could argue that Russell Brown is a pro-Labour blogger, but whenever the party gets embroiled in a scandal Hard News tends to instantly fixate itself on 70’s punk bands, or digital rights or coffee – I don’t think Trotter will distract himself so easily.

    It’s not encouraging!

“For what its worth, on this issue I agree with Russell and think Tom is a deluded, slow-witted moron.”

Said by yet another patronizing academic crippled by his narrow political perspectives and who unquestioningly sucks up and repeats almost every lie, every smear, every fabrication, every factless allegation that his muck raking leftie mates can come up with in their frenzied attempts to discredit someone whose ideas they have no answer for. If there’s one thing that the raging desperate and incoherent panic amongst the left has demonstrated, its who and where the slow witted morons are.

  63. lloydois (239) Says:

“Frum, pro choice and an advocate for “compassionate conservatism” is establishment. An insider with the Bush administration. The administration that increased government spending to record levels and expanded government to a record size. Sarah Palin scares the hell out of such people.”

So let’s get this straight. Frum is a Republican supporter and establishment, an insider. Bush is a Republican and an insider. Palin is a Republican and running and VP on the Republican ticket but she’s not an insider or establishment.

Hell no, it’s gonna take more to convince me that she’s a Republican.

You might not be slow witted Redbaiter but you sure as hell take the moron crown.

  64. Russell Brown (229) Says:

Thanks Danyl. I’m bound to observe that there will be quite a lot of rock ‘n’ roll this week too. We have former Pink Floyd manager Peter Jenner on the TV show this week, which I’m excited about, and the Silver Scroll Awards is tomorrow night. And I’ve been working on the disability issues stuff because I’m speaking at the Autism NZ conference this weekend, so there’ll be a bit of that. But if I finish my script in time this morning, there’ll be a NZ politics post. Perhaps I’ll pop back so Redbaiter can accuse me of “spewing bile” or something.

  65. Redbaiter (9301) Says:

“Palin is a Republican and running and VP on the Republican ticket but she’s not an insider or establishment.”

Y’know, I try not to be too critical of the left, for God knows if I was, there’d be no end to it. But for chrissakes man, how can you claim to be someone with enough knowledge to post worthy comments on political issues here when you obviously failed to hear the message McCain has been sending since the start of his campaign, or detect the reasons for Sarah Palin’s widespread acclaim??

I’ll give you a hint- Its not because they’ve allied themselves with the Bush administration, and its not because they’ve portrayed themselves as Washington insiders. Their sales pitch is they’re going to deal it to the Washington elite and the Republican “Good Old Boy’s Club”. AS PALIN DID IN ALASKA. Good grief, the idiocy of some of these leftist twits is completely beyond the pale.

As for the beat up regarding Sarah’s comments on Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, (and they probably haven’t been reported accurately anyway) even if she did say that, she’d be correct. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, run by reckless and financially irresponsible Democrat suckholes, each receive $2.25 billion lines of credit with the U.S. Treasury. These special pipelines give the institutions an implied federal guarantee available to no other private sector competitors in the mortgage market.

That protection makes them immune to the costs normally associated with riskier and riskier behavior. Moreover, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not required to pay state and local income taxes. In addition, the standard for how much money the government requires them to keep on hand in case homebuyers default on their mortgages is lower for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae than for fully private banks. The two corporations receive an estimated $10 billion a year in hidden taxpayer subsidies.

..and now, its going to cost the taxpayers even more to get them out of the mess that was always going to happen. Sarah Palin is right, and once again, the desperate slanderers of the left, bereft of ideas but overflowing with lies and smears, are left floundering.

  66. lloydois (239) Says:

I’m well aware of the theory Redbaiter, I just don’t buy the sales pitch.

Its doublespeak as an art form.

The opinion piece you quoted is from a committed left liberal columnist. Why would you expect it to have any impact on anyone outside of true believers like yourself?? To me, the fact that you did have such an irrational expectation means you’re not capable of thinking objectively and rationally. It also indicates that in spite of your claims to the contrary, you don’t have a damn clue what Sarah Palin stands for, or why she has such a phenomenal level of support. If its all my imagination, why is Palin the most popular person in the US Presidential race right now?

I’ll tell you Illy. Because she’s stripping the left of their armour of sneering intellectual arrogance, their lies and myths and she’s demonstrating to all and sundry that when that happens, you have nothing. Except smears that is. ..and even they are weak and ineffectual and backfiring on you.

“Every post is a sneering diatribe against a left that exists only in your imagination. ”

More irrational whinging and whining. Wipe away the tears little one. If you were capable of even one skerrick of rational thought, you’d know I don’t give a damn whether you approve of my posts or not. Don’t like em, don’t read em. Is that too hard for you??

  74. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2162) Says:

Looks like David PWNED Russell Brown on this topic!

  75. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2162) Says:

Sarah Palin is doing wonders for John McCain’s polling figures.

After she gave her speech at the Republican convention 20% of white women swung from the Obama camp to the McCain camp. The battleground states are suddenly looking very winnable fro McCain as well.

That must mean that Craig and Russell Brown don’t know what they’re talking about, surprise!

  76. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2162) Says:

Sarah appears to be doing just fine:
White female US voters turn to Palin, desert Obama

The lefties can continue to sick into their mouths with disgust. Nice!
