SFO denies leaking

September 1st, 2008 at 2:39 pm by David Farrar

With absolutely no evidence at all, Helen Clark stated on television this morning that the Serious Fraud Office almost certainly leaked to National that they were about to announce their investigation of Winston Peters.

Ben Thomas at NBR has been in contact with the SFO and their response:

The Serious Fraud Office has denied leaking information about its investigation of Winston Peters to the National Party, contradicting allegations made by Prime Minister Helen Clark.

Acting SFO director Gib Beattie said, through a spokewoman:

“We do not believe that there has been any leak from the SFO and have received assurances to that end from all SFO personnel involved with the donations matter, and we do not intend to make further comment.”

So the Acting Director has checked with every staff member involved. Will Helen Clark accept their word against her invented accusations?

What a shameful accusation by a fundamentally dishonest woman.

The SFO (or “FSO” as Jimbo Anderton curiously labels them) are expected to deal with this matter as quickly as possible.

It is no help whatsoever that they have to waste their time disproving fictitious smears and accusations dreamt up by our paranoid Prime Minister. Hulun should just shut her trap for once, and let them get on with their work…or is she scared of what will be revealed?

Yup, Lies, Lies and more Lies. What else do you expect from this woman. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. This is going to be a dirty election, and all the dirt will be thrown by Helen and her team.

No, the Prime Minister only takes dodgy Ministers with a history of bluff, bluster, and bullshit at their word. The professionals at the SFO are guilty until proven innocent (and even then, there’s some question.)

I wonder if Helen Clark knew the SFO hadn’t leaked anything this before accusing National of denying a leak that didn’t exist? Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest

Helen Clark didn’t make the claim in isolation. According to Tracy Watkin’s opinion piece, published before the PM went on breakfast TV this morning, Labour has been talking up an SFO leak:

By that night, too, they would both have been aware that rumours were rife that the Serious Fraud Office was poised to announce an investigation into NZ First finances. There is deep suspicion within the Labour camp, in fact, that National was acting on more than rumours when John Key effectively cut NZ First loose the day before.

Winston did the biggest bluff of his career to the SFO – Investiage me or leave me alone…..

Then they investigated – wow – couldn’t have seen that comming ! Of course there were rumors, Winston damm near begged them to come after him. What a stupid woman – I can only think of one reason why she claims to be intelligent !

She hates confrontation Thats why she sends H2 to do all the dirty work If we had an MSM worthy of the name they would be camped on her doorstep and thrusting mikes into her face and demanding she produce evidende that the SFO leaked to the Nats,

And then demanding she resigns when she cant do so.

For Gods sake What a 3 ringed circus she is running with her as the Chief Clown

Clark has just ensured this SFO investigation will be the most thorough and rigorous, ever. Ya gotta larf at her stupidity. This has the strong smell of something far more important than getting a silly old ETS bill passed. I reckon Peters has got her over a barrel, somehow. (Apologies to gentle constitutions.)

Dead right about the thorough investigation Adolf. I’m sure that the SFO won’t be in a position to announce whether or not it intends to prosecute Peters until at least, ummmmm, the Monday after the election ;-)

I thought she was going to vomit. Great to have Henry back in action!

I see the bilious bitch continues to slander the SFO, surely there is something that can be done to stop her blatant attempt to divert the focus of the media from HER scandalous involvement in the whole Peters affair.

It seems that Dr Bassett was right to remind us of her famous line “I am prepared to be as vicious, nasty and deceitful as I need to be”

    She is pure evil.

IMHO the MSM are gonna look really stupid after the SFO finish with Luigi The list of unasked questions of Helen and him is getting longer by the day.

    Like

When Glen told her about the donation did she check to see if either Luigi or NZ1 had declared it as either a party donation or gift on the Register.

    If not why not

Did she then inform the Electoral Office and Parliamentary Services and the Police that she has received information that suggested there was an undeclared donation/gift

    If not why not

She had an ethical moral and legal duty to take all reasonable steps to satisfy herself of the situation. She didnt do so.

Just asking Luigi and accepting his word is NOT taking all reasonable steps.

It is not what a prudent person would do in the circumstances

It is not what a responsible person would do in the cirumstances.

It is the actions of an irresponsible person not caring of the consquences of not taking the appropriate action and worse putting self interest before the duty required of the office they hold.

To wit It was the actions of a person who is not qualified to hold the office.

  19. francis (711) Says:

The NZPA makes a strong case, largely ignored, that the reason HC fronted up about Glen’s claim was that she had been told the night before about the forthcoming SFO investigation. “Miss Clark was informed about the inquiry on Wednesday evening by Attorney-General Michael Cullen, who would have been told as part of a no surprises agreement with such bodies.

“The following day she revealed that Mr Glenn told her in February that Mr Peters had asked him for a donation and he gave one.”

At the risk of demerits I have to ask….are you taking the piss?

Given the way that Klark has fucked up so many peoples life’s and wasted the best economic conditions in living memory, Clark has consistently raped our wallets for nine years, she is evil, deceitful and is prepared to do ANYTHING and say ANYTHING to retain power yet you seem to think that we should show her some kind of respect by not referring to her as a bitch.

When you consider the way she has fucked over middle NZ, calling her a “bitch” is showing remarkable restraint.

  21. getstaffed (9,188) Says:

francis – I’m deeply suspicious of Clarks revelation about her knowing of the donation. She’s no novice, and must know that this would cause some grief… so nothing could be gained from this decleration.

The BIG question then is what is the loss she’s now minimising? What dirty bomb is Glenn posed to lob over into our political arena that Clark is now trying to defuse?
