It is not clear from the ‘detailed here’ link, but the Court of Appeal overturned Wild J’s finding of contempt against Anne Hunt. I think the main ‘thrust’ of the CA’s decision was that there was no breach of confidence by Anne using copies of un-suppressed court documents supplied by “W”, and hence no contempt. Anne respected the various suppression orders. While a party to court action would generally be unwise to ‘publish’ case documents in his or her possession while the matter is in progress, AFAIK there is no such limitation after the end of trial (and time for appeals) except where there are suppression orders.

The Court of Appeal judgment is a good ‘read’ was put on:

but was taken down after a month or so as is usual. There is unfortunately no publically accessible accumulated of Court of Appeal judgments, unlike Supreme Court judgments.

Detective Drew is incidentally a Detective Superintendent, a very high ranking officer to be directly doing an investigation.

It now makes sense. I often wondered why the AG seemed to involved in some funny situations and Ive just realised that he thinks the country belongs to HIM.

If anyone needs locking up its him. Hes far more of a danger than the tuhoi terroists.

Huh, it takes DPF LONG enough to catch up on anything that is “broken” by Ian Wishart, doesn’t it? DPF, when will you learn that some of your so-called “extremists” on the right of the political spectrum are actually far and away the most effective combatants the political right has; most of the “centrists” are just limp-wristed do-nothings in comparison. Ian Wishart, Trevor Loudon, Peter Cresswell……….all studiously ignored not only by the liberal lefty-stacked MSM, but by self-styled “centre-rightists” who actually just obligingly read off the same page as the liberal lefties most of the time.

I could be wrong but I suspect being asked to investigate this could be a poison chalice. The type of case that ends in fruitless private prosecutions, cost and heartache. Still, will watch developments with interest and as you say DPF it is not a good look – especially for a govt that is groaning under accusations and actualities of misleading conduct and worse.
