1500 for Otago Uni to see the PM isn't a grand feat by any stretch of the imagination - remembering that OUSA would have promoted this pretty hard and the rumours about the Universal Allowances would have been going round. Wonder why she would go there for that announcement unless she knew 100% that she would get a better than average turnout?

When Winston came to Otago in 1999 (I think) he pulled in almost double that.

Also, OUSA is very loose with numbers - they count people attending their student association meetings as anybody within the radius of their union building. Add that to Labours well known truth stretching and you'll have a far more modest number.

National get Tauranga Boys' tick

22/10/2008 13:20:02

Tauranga Boys' College, known for correctly picking election results, is tipping a big win for the National Party.

The results of a student vote just out, tip a landslide win for National. The party vote was 71 percent for National with Labour a distant second on 16 percent.

The vote on the Tauranga electorate was much closer, with 48 percent picking National's Simon Bridges. New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is trailing just six percent behind on 42 percent.

The students of Tauranga Boys' College have an uncanny record - they have predicted the result of all but two elections over the past three decades.

"botony?? i wouldnt have thought that as a right wing stronghold… 3km’s from manaukau etc"

I would love to throw some voting stats at you from the last election dime, but "As a result of electorate boundary changes in 2007, the Botany electorate has no obvious existing election results."

All i can say is it's about 40% euro, 8.5% maori, 18% PI, 26% asian, with $71k median family income, and 47% of schools are decile 10, while 31% are decile one. Actually, stuffed if i know how that's going to go!

Sigh!!!!

So 750 people turned up to hear the policies of Labour lite.

How bad does it have to get before the people of NZ wake up to the fact that only an idiot continues doing the same thing expecting a different result.

While Key is a nice man and an honest man he is not offering any real change other than a new face, we can only hope that the Nat's leak votes to ACT in enough numbers that enables Rodney and Sir Roger to call the shots.

Heck, we sold our place there about 12 years ago for $300,000, and its now on the market for 2.5 Million. Try and tell me thats not a well off community!
