i once knew a dog that had a fondness for eating cannabis..

..and would wolf down the contents of peoples’ baggies if able to..(everyone had baggies..back then..)

..it would also hassle to be able to eat roaches…

..she was an interesting dog..cool to get high with..

..(it may have been something to do with her eating some tablets of strong lsd..off a table..

..as a youngster..

..(cue owner/loser of the lsd..on hands and knees..

…suddenly noticing the dog with her eyeball really close to a flower..looking at it intently..)

my vegan dogs consider avocado on toast..to be a form of catnip..

..they almost do cartwheels when they hear that is coming up..

Pigs!! I have five dogs that live for hunting pigs. Not the pit bull terrier stereotype, docile, friendly greyhound crosses. They eat out of your hand, lick you to death. But when they get the scent of a pig they undergo a complete personality change. They will track a pig for a couple of kilometers in the bush, and when they get there they bail them up til I get arrive with the rifle. Bailing is lots of barking, not hanging on, like a sheep dog working sheep.

Some people say it is cruel, that was me until I went on my first hunt. Must be some primal urge, cos I was hooked, along with 25,000 other NZers. And I am now fitter that I have ever been and have got a freezer full of the best organic meat available in NZ.

I can handle the fact that you are a bludger, I can handle the fact that you are a waste of space but I cannot handle anybody who abuses animals.

I think most dogs are partial to a Postie in the morning….. they will also go crazy over a nice fresh electricity meter reader.

I’ve tried to feed a politician to my dog in the past, but it seems dogs are not, as I thought, cannibalistic.

ffs..it wasn’t my dog..it was a long time ago..

..i just knew the dog..

she was an extremely happy/much loved.. animal..as it turns out..

..who was taken off the streets as a starving stray..

..and who ended her years lying beside a pool in epsom..

..and riding around in the front seat of a bentley..

..fanny dosen’t need any tears shed for her..

..she was an auckland legend..

Carrots always Carrots, my three american cockers love them , plus wine beer potato chips,dog treats, the odd larbor party visiting supporter, polling, they attack and eat them(nomally sick afterwards) a vets visit to have stomach pumped out , plus toast and cats,

Speaking of Labour party people and dogs.

I have three dogs, not one of which is in anyway aggressive, the first candidate to knock on our door was a really nice Shelia from National, we invited her in and the mutts would not leave her alone.

The next political person who knocked on our door was some loser canvasing for the Labour candidate, all three dogs went off their collective faces as soon as I opened the door slightly to see who it was, needless to say they did not gain entry into our home.

Grind a few pallets of rat poison into powder, and sprinkle the powder over diced dog roll or other cut of raw meat. Leave in a suitable location. “Rat” infestation will clear up in a few days.

(I hate dogs. Disgusting animals…)

He don’t need defending, but be nice to philu on this thread, a rare non-partisan (and funny) post. I knew a dog like that too, only without the lsd starter ! Became very unpopular when it wolfed down a large slice of someone’s special cake, and got what must have been the canine equivalent of the munchies,…real bad. So almost the first thumbs up to philu from the Snack.

Dogs can, as far as I’ve seen, survive as vegan, but I never found one who liked it, and most were “accessing” meat elsewhere. Dogs didn’t evolve as herbivores or omnivores, and I would generally agree that vegan is not in their best interests. Cats in my experience won’t survive vegan.

RRM, now you worry me, although for some dogs (like the bastard that attacked me while jogging) that’s a good idea.

To be honest I’ve also known a dog who was very fond of the weed. It’s owner (not me) would light up a splif and the dog would race to his side and snuffle down the smoke as he exhaled. The dog knew if somebody in the room had a stash on them and it would try and snuffle it out of their pockets.

Like the dog you talk about – this one also got a bad dose of the munchies after it had been “smoking”. It was stunning what it would eat after a big session. Entertaining….

I started a post on this as well, but even though a dog is a carnivore, it’s also an opportunistic herbivore. Dog roll and the like contain grains, vegetables and pasta.

But yes, the concept of forcing a vegan diet on a dog does seem extreme.

When you take into account the person involved, I decided it wasn’t worth arguing as there is enough proof already that person is irrational on so many fronts, this just blends right on in.

Having said that, if he lived in the right city, I’d know a few activist SPCA officers who would consider that information sufficient reason for a “rescue”.

i have a 10 year old mother..and her six year old daughter..

(always vegan..thru pregnancy..etc..

..they have shiny coats/are glowing with health..

..and run about like puppies..

..i see meat-fed dogs all the time..half our mothers’ age..shuffling along..

dogs are omnivores..burt..

..haven’t you ever seen one knocking off a rubbish bag..?

..anyway..you’ll be able to see them on-line soon..

(and isn’t alex a real ‘man’..eh..?..he killed that dog real good..

..they can’t believe the mother is ten years old..she is in such good knick..

..and c’mon..!..nutritionally..what i feed my dogs..is nutritionally a country-mile ahead of cow-eye-lid-ridden ‘dog-roll’..

..my dogs love fruit..apples/bananas..

..and of course..avocado on toast..

Leading with your chin again? I told you about assumptions. You didn’t listen.
Some facts;
1. Dog bit me,
2. I rang Dog control,
3. They found said dog,
4. They established that said dog had bitten a number of others in the area.
5. Dog gets euthenased.
I don’t have a problem with that outcome.
In general I like dogs. I would have one if I had enough space.
Nuff said.
