“Out of control” an’ “having a tantrum”??? Clark is losin’ the plot faster than she’s losin’ the election.

  2. Nomestradamus (2,223) Says:

Goodness, I see Ian Wishart has Labour in his sights again, another scandal apparently:

BREAKING NEWS: TGIF EDITION SCALPS TWO MINISTERS

TGIF EDITION this weekend will be breaking a massive story, implicating two current cabinet ministers and a former Labour cabinet minister, in an unprecedented political scandal.

We have the documents and the bodies. Read the burial notice on the front page of TGIF EDITION, out this weekend, and exclusively available to subscribers[.]

One wonders if “unprecedented political scandal” (which is a bold claim, even by Wishart’s standards) will bring a sour note to Labour’s election campaign. And no, I’m not talking about sour note as in singing their anti John Key song :)

  3. Lee C (4,120) Says:

I agree – after her ‘there was no bitterness’ comment for the cameras the same tired negative spiteful bile soon returned when she realised what an ass-whupping she’d received.
Just a cheap shot to try and soften Key up for the next debate, and convince the ignorant that she is the best candidate for PM.
And yes, I think she is losing the plot. Even the VDS are begging her to change her tactics, and what does she do?
More of the same tired shit…
ps she didn’t pledge to stay in the job for three years either, did she?

  4. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

Participated in THe Press’ Reader’s Panel yesterday with opportunities to listen to, and ask questions of, Peter Dunne and John Key.

Peter Dunne – very personable, and interested in greeting each member of the panel.

    Articulated clear vision of policy.

Good eye contact with panel members.

Answered questions well, with the occasional pause to gather his thoughts.

I have never previously considered United Future but will now spend a little more time reading their policies.

    John Key.

Late to start due to radio interview. Didn’t show interest in meeting personally with each panel member, but gave good acknowledgment to The Press journalists.

Spent too much time bogged down in economic policy, an area I would have thought he’d be confident in, yet he seemed to have no real idea. He did, however, say quite clearly, several times, “I believe in the welfare state”.

Claims NZ finance company collapse could have been prevented had finance companies been subjected to a rating system, no doubt the same system that was used to rate the US companies that have thrown the world in to such turmoil.

Very little eye contact, and when I did try to engage his eyes he looked decidedly uncomfortable and shifty.

Interestingly, as I drove home from the panel, I was listening to Key on Natioanl radio and his answers to questions were almost verbatim of the ones he gave in the Panel, leading me to believe that he, like Palin, is only good when following a script.

I had been considering a vote for National, but if National is just to be “Labour Lite” then it is better to either stick with labour OR direct my vote away from The National Labour Party of NZ.

  6. Right of way is Way of Right (996) Says:

I note the Stuff.co.nz poll shows Aunty Helen won the debate. Poll flooding again methinks!! Can the people at Stuff show where these ‘votes’ came from??

  7. 3-coil (1,064) Says:

The “Cullen fund” has been financed by the taxpayers of NZ. Why is Cullen so negative about New Zealanders investing their own money in New Zealand?

Under his stewardship, the Cullen fund has lost almost $1 billion in value this year – his financial incompetence is clear for all to see, so what fool would trust Cullen’s advice on this matter now? Certainly nobody would invest their own personal savings in accordance with the advice of the financially illiterate Cullen.

This is just more negative whining politicking from the failed history teacher.

  8. expat (3,684) Says:

I see the labour party hacks are out in faorce – strange how loads of new handles have been popping up here recently.

a la “MyNameIsJack” – appropriate for their bluecollar subliminal messaging.

In summary, fuck off labour hacks.

  9. philu (10,919) Says:

is a ‘faorce’ a forceful farce..?

  10. siobhan (278) Says:

“I was listening to Key on Natioanl radio and his answers to questions were almost verbatim of the ones he gave in the Panel”….

And I suppose you would have us all believe that Helen isn’t saying the same things over and over again.
    Its about Trust
    Who do you Trust
Trust meeeeee, ooops well you could Trust me if you stopped talking over me and throwing tantrums….

    Arrggh, booohooo.

    F off you dick.

  11. philu (10,919) Says:

would siobahns’ comment qualify as a ‘forceful farce’..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  12. expat (3,684) Says:

faorce is a cross between farce and force – nearly phil, nearly.

    keep trying.

Hey phil, did you see huluns smacked arse face in the herald today!

  14. Danny-boy (82) Says:

“I had been considering a vote for National, but …”

Sounds suspiciously like the conversation Labour would like swing voters to be havin’. Are ya sure yer not readin’ from a Labour Party talkin’ points email?

  15. Buggerlugs (1,609) Says:

Oh, and another wee titbit. Labour ‘activists’ have been told to take video cameras to every candidate meeting to try and catch National candidates saying something different to John Key or Bill English that can be used against them.

It’s funny then, that the same Labour MPs buying into this don’t like being videotaped themselves…is it because they dont agree with Klark? Or is it that they can’t remember the talking points and have to get their policy updates from the National Party website?

“I had been considering a vote for National, but …”

Sounds more like a Tui billboard to me. Just add “Yeah Right”

  17. CraigM (668) Says:

The Herald poll this morning asks: Do you think John Key had a tantrum during last night’s debate, as alleged by Helen Clark?

Out of 3781 votes as I write this:

    80% say no
    20% say yes

My question, WTF were the 20% watching?

  18. dave strings (608) Says:

    is whoar unemployed for whore?

  19. dave strings (608) Says:

I just found out that if my kids were still at home I would qualify for Working for Families! I EARNED $159,000 last year!!

Is this for real or what?

  20. Owen McShane (1,225) Says:

The provisional tax benefits to companies are trivial compared to the impact of Development Contributions.

A Maori couple here bought a motel in good faith and then found it had not been permitted under the RMA.
Probably had exisisting use rights but would take an Environment court case to prove it so they decided
to upgrade it to get a consent..

Then when they got their resource consent for the four rooms (which had been operating as a motel for about ten years)
they also got a bill for $64,000 for roading contriibutions to pay for the “extra load” generated by the “extra four units”.

They had no idea they would be hit with this. They applied for the consent before the Council adopted its roading
contribution policy and it never occured to anyone that getting a consent would add to the load on the roads.

They cannot pay it and may well just walk away from the whole thing.

So if we want to build our way out of depression we had better scrub development contributions – everywhere – unless there
    is the common law nexus.

  21. side show bob (3,646) Says:

Dave Strings, yes this is real, we get WFF and our income is far greater then $159,000. God don’t you just love socialism and rightwing accountants. And before you blow a fuse I said to the accountant that we do not need WFF and I thought it was the biggest crock of shit ever fostered on the people of NZ. But he said we were intitled to WFF and may as well take it as the government had no problem taking us to the cleaners before WFF, I of course concured.

  22. sbk (186) Says:

From the Greens Law and Order policy…Vital to get them early as a high percentage have drug/alcohol problems and/or mental health issues…Huh ,this from the party that’s want to legalise pot. Dumb.Mind you ,it might apply to some of their supporters!.

  23. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

I also suggested to John Key yesterday that canning middle class welfare like WFF would give greater scope for tax cuts and he a) blanched in hooror, b) said WFF was better than tax cuts and c) repeated “I believe in the welfare state”.

Do you lot really know your man, or are you just hoping Key is the electable face English is not and English will take the reins soon after the election?

  24. philu (10,919) Says:

“I see Labour’s lies are finally getting called out in public – why not in the MSM?”

And why are stories like the one from Owen McShane above, NEVER in the MSM? Why O why can’t someone start a weekly letterbox newsletter that HAS all the stuff that the MSM isn’t telling us, like the families wrecked by CYFS and the small businessmen wrecked by employee dismissal laws and the grandpa and grandma property owners wrecked by the RMA and so on and on and on? FAIR GO……….whatever happened to the idea of “a fair go”, most Kiwis don’t bother their heads about these issues, they don’t realise that THEY could be NEXT…….it’s not the wealthiest “rich pricks” that are getting their lives destroyed by the Heleban, it is ordinary decent people.

Thanks for that tip, Nomestradamus. I WONDER if the “Right Wing In Name Only” will blissfully ignore Wishart YET AGAIN regardless; just to show their credentials to the PC Left when it comes to “fundamentalist wingnuts”, never mind if the fundamentalist wingnut is far and away the most effective operator on the Right. It is at least partly thanks to this head-up-the-arse attitude that the Heleban gets away with so much. YES, that’s right, I’m talking about YOU, you know who you are………

  32. stephen (4,058) Says:

    It’s decriminalise, not legalise.

  33. sbk (186) Says:

Thanks Stephen, but semantics aside, can u see the irony!.

  34. stephen (4,058) Says:

“Thanks Stephen, but semantics aside, can u see the irony!.”

Sorta, but surely pot smoking shouldn’t be a criminal offence, and surely it IS better to ‘get’ ‘them’ early before they have problems. An old chestnut this one…

  35. coolas (89) Says:

Folks on this blog express such loathing for Helen Clark I wonder what really underlies their emotion.
How can anyone get so upset over her?
Maybe they havent taken advantage of 9 years of prosperity, worked hard, and profited.
Maybe they spend their time moaning and complaining and dont get out there and contribute to society.
I’ve never voted Labour but give credit where it’s due.
    The boom times were great.
Now investments are being wiped out.
I want to know who is best to lead us through difficult times ahead.
    Helen or John?
We know her and dont know him, and from the TV debate I didn’t get any closer to who Key is.
‘Fresh’ and ‘Brighter’ mean nothing to me. I want stability and competence.

  36. Chthoniid (1,709) Says:

Dave Strings, yes this is real, we get WFF and our income is far greater then $159,000

Well I’m afraid I earn less than this, but even with 3 kids we don’t qualify. As is typical for the last 9 years we’ve manged to keep just ahead of any of the Government’s handouts.

But its okay, what with 2 disabled kids to care for and all. And all the mushrooming costs that entails. And the salary sacrifices that we’ve had to make to keep the family together.

I mean, its only fair that I should pay more tax. What am I thinking about working even harder to provide for my kids, when people with perfectly healthy and able kids need my money even more. I should just accept that my children are scum and that I’m merely Labour’s tax bitch to funnel money to gosh, all sorts of more deserving sorts than my kids. If we’ve sacrificed buying a house from our plans to give our kids more eductation, then it’s only fair that I get taxed even more to help other people buy their own houses.

  37. big bruv (9,840) Says:

Meanwhile the pinko media have been spending their time franticly trying to find a way to bring back dear corrupt leader from the dead.

The bastards are even offering Klark patsy questions so she can use the terms “slippery” and “cant be trusted”

  38. Buggerlugs (1,609) Says:

    I want stability and competence

So you’re voting for Key then? Cos stability and competence sure don’t go in the same sentence as “Labour” or “Clark”

  39. musthafabuck (100) Says:

Speaking of SHREW’s where is Sue Bradford??
    (voted NZ most hated woman)
Greens are keeping it well under wraps.

  40. coolas (89) Says:

Sure I might vote National this time, but not because I loath Helen & Labour
Whoever addresses the worst financial crisis since 1929 will get my vote

  41. Chthoniid (1,709) Says:

Well given Cullen’s strategy seems to be the same one he uses in all economic situations (economy growing= tax and spend, economy slowing= tax and spend, economy going down gurgler= tax and spend, need to solve global warming= tax and spend) I’m not very confident that we will get anything finely tuned to the economic problems.

  42. Gravelroad (5) Says:

For a while there I actually thought TV1′s political editor, G. Espiner, was a reasonably impartial guyon.
First doubts started with his wide eyed and breathless excitement about the Labour Party campaign launch last Sunday. It’s been all down Parliamentary hill since then.
Still, I guess it is hard to work with the politbureau for so many years and not be influenced by them. What do they call it? The Stockholme hostage syndrome or similar?
