Hah, too funny.

One has to wonder, though, whether it’s this government’s idea to keep the masses dumb because then they’ll have to rely more on the state and not have to do any of that annoying thinking for oneself.

My folks saw a documentary on TV the other day in which there is a whole new wave of Communism starting up in Germany. There are young people there being influenced by this nostalgic idea that it was really cool, when they have NO IDEA about what it really is and the damage Communism does.

Even over here we have the Greens’ (read ‘Reds’) partially taxpayer-funded socialist Kotare school going into schools and ‘teaching’ 14-17 year old kids (see latest Investigate magazine about the Green Party’s Marxist influence and background.)

You have to pity the young, really.

Its hard to reconcile Nationals slogan “chose a brighter future’, when they were the party that abolished apprenticeship training schemes in the 1980’s. That was the start of the great, dumbing down of NZ. Labour continued with the dis-establishment of an education system that had served NZ well and saw it rise to enjoy one of the highest living standards in the world. Now we have a nation riddled with criminals, illiterates, and mal-contents, as the above pics attest.

I have to agree with you about apprenticeships. they were the backbone of the middleclass and therefore highly targeted by both parties in their socialist drive to divide and rule.

Nowadays instead of being paid to learn, you have to pay to learn. But trade training is very popular and an option the younger can choose if they’re not too tertiary minded for higher learning. Although, trade training may well provide incentives for graduates to go onto higher tertiary levels as they accumulate points.

The lazy ones are never going to try anyway, and if a teen can’t be encouraged by their peers, then they got a lot of growing and learning to do about themselves.

But I see your point clearly, the days of employers training up the youth was a sad loss and should’ve been bitterly contested. Especially in the era of Muldoonism bankrupting businesses and weakening the middle classes abysmally.

I think though, the rat is starting to smell. Unfortunately, many get used to the smell and gradually accept it.

Wow, I really got to remember that last line!

hey boiz – its laber day on Monday:

Labour Day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from efforts of the labour union movement, to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers.

So i spose you guys will be doing your bestest to not enjoy yourselves, as usual. Instead of taking the day off work – you guyz should go to work in protest.

Note: there is no ‘National’ day. Nothing the National Party has ever done is worth celebrating – amirite?

Yes, you are an eeejit. The commies stole Labour Day from the people who traditionally had a day of open debate availabl eto all political and religious views. Which is turn was earlier a celebration of spring in the nthn hemisphere.

Most countries celebrate Labour Day on May 1, known as May Day and International Workers’ Day. In Europe the day has older significance as a rural festival which is predominantly more important than that of the Labour Day movement. The holiday has become internationalised and several countries hold multi-day celebrations including parades, shows and other patriotic and labour-oriented events. However, in Northern Europe, Walpurgis Night is celebrated on the preceding night and this holiday merges with the Labour Day in some countries

Unlike Liarbore, which represents and supports only its own narrow interest groups.

If you really cared for ALL people in a country, how could you support this Liarbore govt that openly distributes common-wealth to partisan supporter groups that have neither earned it nor proven they will use the PEOPLE’s resources wisely? How can you support a govt that is demonstrably incapable of admitting fault in itself, that lies, subverts OUR constitution and has plenty of examples of provable corruption?

You’d have to be either very stupid or very very very evil.

No point responding to idiotboy. His ilk were bred by this govt to have no ability to think. This discussion is the same as the one idiots always raise around Auckland Anniversary weekend. I grew up in the Auckland hating Waikato, and thats fair enough. However the annual debate held over the airwaves asking why Waikato has no anniversary of its own demonstrates again the lack of education of the people who ask the question and the dumbed down media who give it air time.

Not having to think for yourself is a right this govt has ordained all kiwis with. Sadly all too many exercise this right, and this is why you will have more of the same for three years from November

I also go to work on Monday to pay high taxes that mostly provides the benefits that you enjoy in society. Forget literacy – what about food?

As we hit recession in the 30 year cycle, we are about to hear of mothers who protest that they can’t afford to feed their kids as takeaways are now too expensive and even the pre-cooked meals in the supermarket are unaffordable. As schools no longer teach domestic science classes to boys or girls there is no preparation for having to make meals from scratch or live on a third of what you used to before you were laid-off.

I see a sad future for Gen X & Y people as unemployment rises.
