Two questions for the Greens

October 29th, 2008 at 2:00 pm by David Farrar

1) You have said you will not support a National-led Government, but also have said this does not mean you will automatically support a Labour-led Government. What will you do if you hold the balance of power and can not agree with Labour – will you force a new election, or will you abstain on supply and confidence and allow the biggest party/bloc to form a Government?

2) Several Green MPs have said they are not keen to work with Winston, and would have problems doing so. Having campaigned so long and hard of transparency of donations, and bearing in mind the finding of the Privileges Committee, that Winston lied about the $100,000 Owen Glenn donation, will the Greens rule out supporting a Labour-led Government that continues to have Winston Peters as a Minister?

After your dishonest ‘green ban list’, do you really expect an answer to your ‘two questions for the Greens?’

Given that Comrade’s Bradford (the next co leader) Locke and Norman would rather eat glass than support a National govt and given the Greens proven disdain for democracy they will do any deal to ensure the Nat’s cannot form a govt.

If that means they have to work with Winston (and who really believes that they have a problem with him anyway, the Greens are desperate to grab a share of the baubles and will tell any amount of lies to gain a few seats at the cabinet table) then they will do so.

The Greens would rather force another election than let the Nat’s govern.

  5. toad (3,545) Says:

The answer to both these questions is the same DPF. Actually, I’ve answered the second one before.

It is that both these issues would be up to a Special General Meeting of the Green Party to decide.

Jeanette and Russel cannot totally rule out the possibility of working in Government with Winston because according to Green Party rules it is not their decision to make. Nor is whether to abstain on confidence and supply and allow a National-led Government if an agreement cannot be reached with Labour in the event of the Greens holding the balance of power. I don’t think the latter circumstance is likely in any case. Labour would swallow all manner of dead rats in order to hold onto Government, and the Greens will recognise that in economic recession some of our bigger-ticket expenditure items might have to be phased in more slowly or put on hold.

And before someone asks, no, I’m not going to speculate on which ones.

[DPF: Thanks. My reading between the lines is Winston can't be ruled out as a Minister in a Labour-Green-NZ First Government and that Labour don't have to concede anything to the Greens as at the end of the day the Greens will have to vote supply and confidence to Labour rather than let National form a Government - all subject to the members of course]

    Just before 5pm Friday 3 October 2008, I lodged a formal complaint
with the Serious Fraud Office about National Party leader John Key’s
failure to declare his pecuniary interest in Tranz Rail shares at a
time it was an ‘Item of
    Business’ before Parliament.

A complaint will be similarly lodged with the Police, on the same
grounds – which are attached to this email, for your information and
    consideration.

As all evidence I have provided is in the ‘public domain’, and there
has been considerable media coverage and public interest in the recent
Privileges Committee deliberations and Report on ‘Members Pecuniary
Interests – Gifts and Donations’, interests of ‘open, transparent
and democratically accountable’ government – I am making details of
this complaint public. (more…)go to uncensored site nz

Both Clark and Cullen make decisions that effect the housing market while owning houses. Many houses in Clark’s case. They should excuse themselves from decisions such as those dealing with the support of banks that might hold too many dodgy mortgages. But they don’t, so maybe you should report them to the SFO and the Police too.

Whether Mr. Farrar’s list of bans was accurate or not is hardly the question. It is widely known that the Watermelons are extreme leftists with the usual ambitions to control us and make government bigger, and who have chosen to make a Trojan horse of the environment movement in an attempt to achieve that control. If they ever desired to gain any real credence or integrity they would in the very first place, leave our children alone, and cease the Nazi like indoctrination of the young and impressionable that they implement in our school system.

Its the only way they can get any political traction of course. The only people gullible enough to fall for their propaganda and scare mongering are spotty faced ignorant and angst ridden youth, whereas mature adults with any degree of sophistication can see through their lies immediately, and know that their real motivation is power and to get their noses into the taxpayer funded trough.

I have nothing but contempt for the Watermelons on many levels, but none more so than for their predatory attacks on our youth.

I would certainly hope the capital gains tax won’t be put on hold. It won’t raise a lot of revenue, but it will level the playing field to encourage investment in productive enterprise and employment rather than in property speculation. I would have thought that, given recent financial events and likely rising unemployment, even the righties would think that is a good idea.

    Toad
I am concerned about the above statement.
It suggests to me that, if on November 9th there is the slightest possibility of there being a L/G/NZ1/JA based government, I should immediately give notice to quit to my tenants and put my pension properties on the market. (Luckily I’ve owned them long enough that even a 30% drop in value won’t destroy any capital). This will put seven families, including sixteen under 13 year old children, out of their homes, but what the heck, if I don’t do it now I’ll have to do it later. After all, the state will have to build a vast number of accommodation blocks to house all the people that will be looking for a place to live, so as long as you’re quick about it there won’t be a problem. In the mean time, I’ll pop my money into bank term deposits in the UK, where there is, as yet, no expiry date on the nationalised bank’s deposit guarantee scheme.

    Another question for the Greens
They claim that if a party does not get a majority support then a majority has voted against it.
This displays extreme ignorance of MMP which is frankly shocking.
Under MMP a vote is only cast FOR a party/candidate.
It is not possible to vote AGAINST a party/candidate.

Has anyone ever investigated who funds the greens or where they raise most of their cash? I’d say communist party and possible some Arab nations…and no doubt from sale of weed etc.
