Emma Daken is doing something inspiring. Emma is a 20 year old student at Victoria University and she is spending all of November and December plus some of January walking from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Emma is doing it to raise money for research into a cure for cystic fibrosis. Almost every day she is walking the equivalent of a marathon.
Emma has already raised $12,000. She is giving up two months of her life to walk over 2000 kms to help this great cause. If you want to support her efforts you can easily make a donation online here. Her goal is to raise $50,000.

Did you read about that stupid uni (or was it students assoc) in Canada who stopped an annual fundraiser for CF because it was a “white man’s disease” and therefore not inclusive enough.

I was just going to say what Brian said. People need to think carefully before putting their money towards curing such a racist and sexist disease. The story is here:

OTTAWA – The Carleton University Students’ Association has voted to drop a cystic fibrosis charity as the beneficiary of its annual Shinearama fundraiser, supporting a motion that argued the disease is not “inclusive” enough.
Cystic fibrosis “has been recently revealed to only affect white people, and primarily men” said the motion read Monday night to student councillors, who voted almost unanimously in favour of it.
According to the motion, “all orientees and volunteers should feel like their fundraising efforts will serve their (sic) diverse communities.”

Sounds like the ‘John Wayne Memorial Fund’ will do well then in Lumberjackland. He only shat on Redskins (sorry first nation) assholes including squaws and papoose’s.
