Well done Nikki

November 2nd, 2008 at 9:56 am by David Farrar

Congrats to Nikki Kaye for completing the Auckland Half Marathon this morning. It was a 21.1 km run from Devonport to Victoria Park.

Nikki also gets a mention in the Herald on Sunday today that looks at a number of younger candidates.

So they looked at younger candidates, profiled Auckland Central, but left out Oliver Woods?

It’s bad enough that the Standard keeps telling lies about their party (http://www.thestandard.org.nz/vote-smart-the-micro-parties/) and tries to subvert democracy by getting everyone who was voting for a party outside of parliament to vote Green, but you’d think that the party that advocates for MMP would at least not try and cut it off at the knees by devaluing microparties.

Perhaps this is why Labour are scared new left ideas like RAM. While they may not have much traction, they’re far more faithful to Labour’s roots than the big red elephant in the room that everyone wants to get rid of.

And there on the sidelines, looking and wondering why life is so unfair was one Judith Tizard (soon to be the late and unlamented Minister of Knitting).

Its tough when your time’s up and you are too thick to realize.

dog, the HOS probably had good reason to overlook Oliver Woods. Auckland Central voters certainly are overlooking him.

Auckland Central is a two-horse race. Kaye has been out and about and doing the hard yards all year. There’s a real mood swing in this electorate, and I think she will make history and turn the seat blue. To my regret, I haven’t seen Tizard out campaigning at all.

Although I have had a lot of Tizard material in the letterbox over the last couple of weeks. One document that looked remarkably like a voting paper, and another a couple of days ago from Tizard, on parliamentary letterhead through the paid post–not hand delivered–welcoming me to the Auckland Central electorate, and telling me that I can get in touch with her at any time if I need any help.

Thank you for the welcome, Judith. Although I have lived in Grey Lynn longer than you have been the MP, it’s nice to be finally welcomed as a voter in such a non-political way, just a week out from the election!
