I have to say that I take great joy from the way the left blog world is going into meltdown mode over the Governments use of urgency to push through its agenda.
They just have not got used to the idea that they lost the election, it is also incredible how they can ignore the abuse of the system under Labour yet find fault with the Nat’s for doing the very same thing.

As usual our “pals” at the Labour party funded sub standard are screaming the loudest, their comment section is a haven for hatred and bile, they are so pathetic it is laughable.

BB, I just can’t get over the stupidity of equating the use of urgency to ram through the ETS in the dying days of the last government with the new government using urgency to pass a bill that was an explicit part of their manifesto, when it is a measure that they believe is URGENTLY required to aid economic growth. Do these idiots have two braincells to rub together?

It is truly amazing that, for the first time in over ten years, when there is a genuine matter of urgency in the form of measures to protect us against the ravages of a recession, the idiots of the left and some media commentators who should know better bleat about the use of urgency provisions. Of course for them, the only matter of urgency ever was finding ways to steal other people’s money for their election campaigns.

I am enjoying watching the Maiden Statements of all new MPs in Parliament, and enjoy reading them again when transcripts are available.

For the first time ever, I watched two new MPs address the House from other than their allotted seat in Parliament.

I understood that no MP could address the House from someone else’s seat.

Is there a new convention?

CriagM, I have posted a reading list on this subject several times on Kiwiblog. There is now plenty of analysis out there about the way the IPCC came into being. The process of crucial first-level appointments of its 20-odd “lead authors” was captured by Al Gore, James Hansen, Maurice Strong and Bert Bolin. All of the “lead authors” are utterly tainted, chosen by these people solely on the grounds of their committal to an agenda, they are in no way anything like the top shelf of the world’s climate experts.

The second tier appointments, the 2,500 “expert reviewers”, was NOT captured. These appointments were made by the participating governments. Bear in mind though that of these 2,500, only around 300 actually have anything to do with Climate Science, the rest review “impacts”, taking the issue of climate change as a given.

But it is interesting which climate scientists got to be appointed as reviewers 20 years or more ago. Vincent Gray and others who have since earned the label of “deniers” were evidently regarded by the governments of the day as the most expert people; they are now of course a severe embarrassment to their governments. The idea that the IPCC Reports are “Peer Reviewed” by these people is a lie. A “peer review” means that the input of the reviewers is taken some notice of. When dozens of reviewers (at least) raise hundreds of questions and quote dozens of papers and all this gets ignored by the “lead authors”, THAT IS NOT a “Scientific” “Peer Review Process” at all.

These ignored Peer Reviewers have been frantically trying to get heard by the public for more than a decade. Apparently people who actually rely on the government for their salaries and benefits, are the only people with any credibility now; the standing that people like Vincent Gray had at the time of their appointment evidently does not extend beyond the point at which they depart from the now approved agenda.

I have had a severe blow to my belief that the media has been losing its ability to put across totalitarian style lies, thanks to the internet and talk radio and so on; when B. Obama was elected President of the USA. The great Climate Change Lie may well be unstoppable, along with all the other lies like “The Free Market, Not Wrong-headed Government and Reserve Bank Policy and Regulations, are responsible for economic crisis”. We are getting slowly but surely ratcheted towards a rerun of Bolshevik hell on earth, courtesy of our media and the people who stack it.

An oven bag is the go, long and slow, but hoping the birds were frozen in May-June cos if they were shot recently your pheasant will come out of the oven looking and tasting like an old boot.

The issue stems from Article I, Section 6, of the Constitution, which says: “No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time.”

Emoluments refers to compensation.

After Mrs. Clinton’s last Senate election in 2006, the salary for secretary of state and other cabinet positions was increased to $191,300 from $186,600. In the past, Congress has gotten around this by passing a resolution cutting the salary for the office at stake back to what it was before the nominee’s most recent election.

The amounts involved are peanuts and it doesnt seem to be insurmountable

This lot defy belief….. I thought I would get in early and get the transponder for my windscreen….. Yet we don’t use transponders????? We have gone and designed something completely different that is only going to lead to a huge amount of errors!! I would assume they were probably instructed by the labour gummint to do something thst will have a high error rate, thereby keeping their minions employed!

I’d sack the lot of the cunts. This gross waste of my money really fucks me off!

I refer to the vehicle identification system on the new Northern toll road.

Which absolute moron came up with this stupid over-complicated system for identifying cars? That has to be the most expensive way to collect a toll anybody can think of. I can imagine the problems that this is going to generate with license plates being unreadable, positioned in a place not visible to the cameras, a la trucks and trailers etc. Actually, it has given me a few ideas about avoiding the tolls (Not that I would)…. But I am sure that some of the very enterprising people who live in the far North will be thinking in the same way, and we can only guarantee they will act in this way!

Only a collection of governmental bureaucratic morons could come up with something as downright stupid as this!

What the hell is wrong with using overhead gantries with windscreen mounted transponders? As is done everywhere else in the world….. These could then be very simply used for any number of other toll roads, parking buildings, you name it, Have a look at the system in Singapore.

I shake my head in disbelief that my taxes are paying the wages of you twits.

With a bit of luck the new National government will sack most of you on the spot.

OK, I get the message that we now have an Obamessiah who in the eyes of many gullible and deceived people, many of whom should know better; can do no wrong. That obviously goes for a lot of the Kiwiblog audience, seeing posting criticisms and links to criticisms of Obama and the way he got elected, brings down negative karma apon one’s head.

I am afraid that this is all tied up with the MSM’s ability to put across a “big lie”; whether a “big lie” about global warming, a “big lie” about deforestation, a “big lie” about “Bush Lied”, a “big lie” about “Brash Lied”, a “big lie” about the reasons for an economic crisis, a “big lie” about who was responsible for New Orleans Levees being inadequate, a “big lie” about which politicians were responsible for US Intelligence on terrorists preparations for 9/11 being so inadequate, and so on. The election of B. H. Obama is just the latest manifestation of all this.

I have posted a link previously to a site set up by TV show host John Zeigler, showing the results of polling done in the USA, and video of voters being polled; and what emerges is that barely ANYONE who voted for Obama, knew ONE SINGLE negative point about him; but they knew every little detail about McCain and Palin’s faux pas’s and alleged faux pas’s, including one that was not true at all; AND most of them believed that negative facts about Obama and Biden, were actually true of either McCain or Palin.

Some commentators have scoffed at me, saying that we all know that elections are decided by stupid voters, and so what? These people miss the whole point of John Zeigler’s exercise, that is, that the “mainstream” media are acting utterly dishonestly on issues that are of vital importance for the whole world, to the extent that a man whose whole career hitherto indicated that he is both feet firmly in the “hate America First”, grievance industry, cultural marxist, camp; gets elected President on an essentially deceitful platform of reach-accross-the-aisle centralism. OK, maybe he has “changed”; but surely people would be entitled to doubts on this were they made aware of the facts? Surely it is not healthy for the future of a nation or even the whole first world, when its media are so obviously acting in the role of agents for one particular political agenda?

Global Warming. Barack Obama. And a long list of other “big lies”. It is all part of the same problem.

The sucker shareholders voted for the “recovery plan” that is dependent on the NZ property market rallying in the next 12 months……….??????????

Regulars on Kiwiblog will know what I think of that. Bruce Sheppard in the DomPost this morning is right.

Next thing they’ll be asking for a “bailout”. That is one thing NZ is doing right that the Yanks are not. We are just letting our Finance sector fall over. There is not much left of it now. And I don’t believe Hanover will last much longer either.

Japan is an example of what happens when the government tries to use monetary policy to “boost the economy” and “restore confidence”. Their property values have dropped 50% back to where they should be and where they were before their bubble happened, it just took 15 years to happen and meanwhile the economy stagnated due to lack of confidence.

Might it not be better to just let the nation’s assets resume their true values and rebuild confidence from there? What will get the confidence of a lending intitution more, sections on the edge of town “worth” 300 grand, or sections worth 30 grand; which is what they are worth purely as “land” for, say, farming. Might it not be part of our problem, if we are basing our whole valuation system on prices that are driven up by political collusion in the land supply process, akin to what OPEC does with the price of oil?

To continue the “economic recovery” argument; after bubbles in asset values, we need to restore the relationship between incomes and asset values that have been dislocated by a combination bad fiscal and monetary management on the part of the government. Our income needs to double, or our asset values need to halve; or, hopefully, a combination of the two will result in a “meeting in the middle” somewhere.

But if the course of policy we adopt does not result in very handsome rates of economic growth, we are obviously asking for trouble. And if we believe that we can get economic growth on borrowed or printed money rather than earned money, we are living in la-la land.

Phil, I believe the ‘financial crisis’ will extend further into the real economy post xmas (after the consumer inflation lead spending frenzy of yuletide) with a few retail failures and a bit of general xmas hangover leading to a continuation of the current recession. If that in conjunction with much tighter housing lending, a fallling export economy and increasing rates and living costs doesnt segway into large house price adjustments over the winter then I dont know whats going on.

cha, please give me credit that I have never yet given a sentence to the specific issue of Obama’s birth certificate, other than to suggest we can let it die. I think it is absolutely absurd that a man who is ineligible for President on the basis of not being born in the USA, and knows it, would have bothered to run at all in the first place and relied on the question never being raised or if raised, successfully evaded; and if not evaded, then a constitutional adjustment being acheived due to the sheer mandate he has acheived, a bit like FDR actually pulling off a third term in spite of what the constitution says.

Whatever else I have believed about Obama, I have presumed all along that he is sure of his ground concerning his birth certificate; but should that prove to be a valid issue after all, that would merely top off the sheer gall that Team Obama, including the MSM, have displayed, and the “big lie” that has been perpetrated.

The work of John Zeigler in polling has merely confirmed my earlier suspicions, that the election of Obama was nothing to do with people weighing up the arguments about him and his background and deciding to give him the benefit of the doubt, it was a case of them not even getting any hint from the media at all that there was a cause for concern and a case to be answered.

I did not believe tha MSM could do this with a Presidential election, whatever they may have done with Global Warming and all the other lies. In 2004, they did not get away with a lie about George W.’s military service, thanks to the Blogosphere; hence, I though, the blogosphere would take care of B. H. Obama.

OK, I was wrong about that. I still do not believe that any white man with Obama’s overhead baggage could have pulled it off. Enthusiasm at laying America’s racist demons to rest by historically electing its first black president, conquered all else. Jesse Jackson was just 20 years too early, it was very similar overhead baggage to Obama’s that sunk his run; he too had both feet firmly in the “hate America First”, grievance industry, cultural marxist, camp, and back then the media told the truth about it, and he and his team were not so good at lying about it. I have no reason to believe I am wrong about Obama himself, and will only breathe a sigh of relief and admit I was wrong, once his Presidency is over without disaster having occurred with his fingerprints all over it.

I have previously blogged with a heads-up on the Project Protector debacle …. interesting extract from the NBR

“Project Protector was supposed to improve the Navy’s capabilities, but the only ship delivered is the HMNZS Canterbury, which is sub-standard, plagued with problems and needs another $20 million spent on it. The two offshore patrol vessels have been sent back to Melbourne and the 70 crew that were stationed with them brought home. Dr Mapp said the ships had a weight problem – at about 100 tonnes overweight they could not sail in Antarctic waters as required. The four inshore patrol vessels are also delayed, with health and safety issues preventing them getting a warranty.”

It’s what you get when they are built down to a price rather than up to a standard. None of them are warships with the multiple redundancy systems you would expect. Insteed they are civilian spec painted grey and while they may look nice tied up alongside I suggest they will be plagued with problems throughout their (limited) life.

And just who was the Minister who oversaw the acquisition???????

Just the fact that the Obama camp and his propaganda arm (the mainstream media) have chosen to label those who want proof that Obama was born in the US as “conspiracy theorists” should awaken doubt in any rational person. This is not a tin foil hat issue. Obama has concealed huge chunks of his past. The documents he has had sealed that would answer this looming question are his original birth certificate, his passport, his college records from both Columbia and Harvard universities, his health records, and his original Selective Service registration – if it exists at all.

This man comes from Illinois. Known as one of the most politically corrupt states. That the mainstream media, who subpoenaed George Bush’s dental records, are turning a blind eye to these issues would normally be a disgrace, but as we have learned, they are not journalists. They are Democrats who have taken control of the industry and made it a Goebellian propaganda device for corrupt and cynical left wing politicians. Once the media were concerned with truth, and if that was still the case, they would be fully investigating Obama. He’s a Chicago politician for chrissake. He got rich very quickly in a way that has never been explained yet he’s never had a real job.

If Obama was “sure of his ground” he would release all of this documentation, including the original birth certificate. He won’t. He has to have something to hide.

mattyroo , you show your ignorance since a transponder system ALSO requires a number recognition system. For the say 50% who dont have a transponder and its cost and installation

So they are SAVING money as they dont have TWO types of recognition. They would have bought a standard software system to reconise the plates and do all the transactions, computers are pretty fast these days

AS for other places London doesnt use transponders at all.

Check the website , you set up an account for a regular user so you can have the amounts direct credited and get a monthly statement.

Thank you, Redbaiter, that summed it up nicely. This is not just about Obama’s birth certificate. It is, as you say, about educational records, passport, his past writings, his past associations, and his whole career. It is just incredible that anyone could get away with leaving everyone so in the dark about all this stuff, you’d never get even the most menial job let alone a minor bureaucratic job in the US government, if you kept all this stuff about yourself hidden, yet Obama has got the top job in the land. Essentially, as you say, through a massive put-up deception on the part of the MSM.

This has included the MSM pulling stuff off their own archives, involving reports and audio and video, even, concerning Obama’s earlier career, when they knew that it might scare the voters. Someone from the blogosphere would find something, often reported in glowing terms by the media at the time, and put up a link to it; next day, it’s been pulled off the newspaper’s or the channel’s archive.

Illydois obviously falls into the same category as most of the MSM in the USA; he and they have no difficulty with a hard-left, cultural Marxist background in a President, in fact they love the idea, but they realise that deception will be necessary to attain that.

Victor Davis Hanson, who is not to be sneered at, put it very suitably:

“….the result of the mainstream media’s abdication of its responsibility to inform, is that the American public may well yet discover the truth about Barack Obama in circumstances that they regret…….”

And consequent on that, the MSM will need to be dealt with for setting the stage for disaster. Senator Joe McCarthy was actually right; the history has been written by the Left; and the USA has yet to re-confront the need to take the axe to the roots of the Marxist “Long March” through its institutions.

It was a great program, flags DO flutter in a vacuum (while being unfurled), you can see an Astronaut in the shade of a Lunar Lander, it is possible to bounce a laser off man-made reflectors left on the moon, the walking action of the Astronauts is only possible in one-sixth gravity (a bungee cord won’t cut it).. etc.

Banking scheme liability may be $275 billion

“The Government is acknowledging consideration will have to be given to the length and extent of banking deposit and funding guarantee arrangements.

Information released today indicates the Government’s contingent liability for taking steps to maintain confidence in the banking system is likely to hit $275 billion.

Finance Minister Bill English says it is possible the two-year length of the guarantee may have to be extended depending on what other countries do. He says alternatively it might be scaled down or limited……”

TOLD YOU SO. $275 Billion………!! OUCH.

WTF – Stuff posted a story saying Flynn had reached his maiden test century. http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q=+site:www.stuff.co.nz+stuff+%2B+flynn+%2B+maiden+test+century

I went to the NZCricket site to check the desktop scorebox, only to see his score was 86 – this didn’t update for over an hour. Now Stuff reports Flynn fell short by 5 runs.

OK the Network Administrator Zealous Implementer is really annoying me now!
Because the server was upgraded the bosses can now get a report on who is using the internet and what websites they are looking at. The complaints and website blocking started shortly after the first report.
We’re not allowed to access hotmail, gmail, yahoo mail, messenger etc. We are also blocked from Trademe, Facebook, Stuff and Blogspot.
I cannot sign in to my Google reader as we are blocked from Google, Yahoo and Altavista search engines! This morning I find out that I now cannot use Firefox, I have to use IE!
I can still access Kiwiblog because it’s a .co. But of course if I’m on here too long they will notice and block that too.
What is it with these people?
So anyway I’ve waited til I get home to rant.
I guess I’m stuck with it unless someone knows a way around.
