Helen Clark got 25% against people like Tindall. You being a greenie nome I would have thought that was an accomplishment?

Roger does that mean threequarters of NZ think she's not ?

Hey DPF - why no mention of Helen clark being voted “the greatest NZer alive” in a herald pole? Thought you love those unscientific herald poles?

Rigged!

Her legacy is a debt laden society and the enslavement of women into prostitution.

Oh and the dearest, oldest trainset in the world.

The negative list is endless. That is why NZ binned her in fine stylie!!

It's like "The Germans" episode of Fawlty Towers isn't it, roger.

Don't mention the war.

Edit: To be fair there was a thread on it, perhaps you missed it.

January 23rd, 2009 at 5:58 pm
“Now is a very good time to be black.” Excellent - (In NZ tt’s not a bad time to be brown either)

Glutaemus - They were reporting on BBC that 13,000 familes in teh UK have lost their homes to mortgagee sales in the last 3 months? Is it THAT bad over there - or is 13,000 not a big number?

My prediction is that the Uk will be the worst affected country in Europe.

The weird thing is that the Continentals and Yanks don't really class us as Europeans.

The housing sales are stalled, will see what the Gov.t policy to keep folks in their homes pans out like.

In Lancashire North there is no problem, because we are tight. Never over leveraged the House loans.

After all a mortgage is a smart rent, not an investment.

For those interested in China-US geopolitics, one major issue is of course the massive trillion plus US bond holdings that China has (and of course Japan also has a similar amount).

The issue is that this gives China (and Japan) the ability to manipulate the USD - to crash it, if it wants to. Of course this has a downside to China (and Japan) as well since it undermines its biggest customer. However as we all know, in geopolitics, there are usually deeper meanings beyond the merely superficial.

Has China (and Japan?) already sold? The bond price until recently was holding at a curiously inflated level (around 140 - it's now 129) - If Uncle Sam's been buying them - then why? Does not benefit the US taxpayer, at all. And who was selling?

Now we see this announcement from Obama's new team.

When are YOU going to get a clue, RB?

I don't care whether an article is written by JC or Satan - if it's true it's true. Period.

Perhaps if you applied the same principles your analyses might improve.

"Now the dust is beginning to settle, we begin to see exactly the effect I was predicting."

When are you going to get a clue? You post a reference to a REUTERS article by ALISTAIR LYON and expect this to enhance your credibility?? You naivety astonishes me. Do you really not recognise the fact that Reuters is widely regarded as rabidly anti-Israel in its reporting on the Middle East, and that Mr. Lyon is similarly regarded??? With their credibility so questionable, why would any sane person think an article from these sources would be worth referencing here as a means of supporting any argument?? Utterly mystifying. Do you not exercise even minimal caution in testing the political allegiances of those whose words and ideas you are committed to??

As some know, in every Gaza thread since December I've said that Israel's Gaza strategy was flawed and would not only not work but would have precisely the opposite effect: bolstering support for Hamas and it's main supporter, Iran.

Some people thought I was wrong.

Now the dust is beginning to settle, we begin to see exactly the effect I was predicting.

Ahh, also referencing to Bush who did want to invade.

No, I don't think the US or indeed even Bush himself ever really wanted to invade, wiki. The US knew the consequences. The Iran invasion propaganda is driven by Israel. Always was.

Some of the "Bush et al's" were very keen on it as a result of their sycophantic Israel-first attitude, but IMO, the US defense and most of the political establishment including Bush himself, resisted such action to the end. Thank goodness.

" Israelis were after a base from which to attack Iran without mid-air refueling."

Iran is huge. An Iranian told me its people have no fear of being invaded, the country is just too big.

Israel could only make a little mess using conventionl weapons. Iran is practically a fortress.

We're on the same page, grumpy. IMO, the Russians are the best-lead hardest troops in the world.

The Israelis were after a base from which to attack Iran without mid-air refueling, a capacity which (for that operation) the US had denied them. That's why they were in Georgia.

"PhilBest, yep I was looking forward to Bible Spice Palin as president, she was going to send a battalion of marines to Georgia to teach them russkies a lesson.
Hey, it might have worked with the Russians busy pissing themselves with laughter"

I couldn't believe it when i heard it, I wonder how the Americans would do staring down armored columns from the Russian Federation since they cannot guarantee air superiority to nuke anything that moves.

I heard a eye witnesss on radio say 2 plain clothes ran around the side of the van and shot 3 times. Again speculating - had it been the offender shooting the victim he would have got shot by the cops - surely?
Like they dont stand there and watch a thug unload 3 rounds into an innocent victim?

Reid, any bugger who believes the Russians are soft should read about
the 1812 scrap with France and her puppets.
I could not believe my bloody ears when I heard her spouting that the USA had to confront Russia in Georgia.

Amusing how fast the Israelis decided that selling arms to Georgia may not have been such a good idea.
I wonder if that was when the Russians decided to send the latest anti air missiles to Iran ?
Still the Russians must be mellowing, i expected them to level Tbilski . (spelling)

Don't know what happened, Patrick, but it sounds like it was a moving vehicle. It's possible the AOS shooter didn't realise there was a hostage in the car, but rather, thought they were all bad guys.

Eisenhower “Yes, let’s speculate.”
Yep. I’m speculating, but the cops don’t usually take this long to say who shot the who, when it's an innocent victim.
I cant think of anything worse than a cop acting like a Wyatt Earp and not identifying his target. I just hope it’s not so – for his sake (and the victim)
IMO if anyone has a gun, and is shooting at people as this offender was – he’s fair game and should be shot at the first opportunity. And not wait until he grabs, or endangers a hostage
