Labour MP to be sued for laziness
February 5th, 2009 at 8:42 am by David FarrarThe Daily Telegraph reports that an 84 year old manĀ is suing UK Labour MP Ann Keen for laziness, saying she breached her “duty of care” to a constituent.
Imagine the precedent that would set if he won. I can imagine a few nervous MPs in New Zealand

The prosecution for MP laziness would be a bit droll. But reinstate public floggings for those lazy MPs, sell tickets and get the economy going again!

If we can’t get them for dishonesty (Hi Winston et al), how on earth could we expect a conviction for laziness?

I totally support that MP’s should be able to be held to a duty of care, and/or a contractual obligation and/or even a fiduciary duty, and that the same should apply to (the more ‘important’) public servants more generally (as it applies to many other professions). Unfortunately history and case law show that the chance that this will ever be implemented is extremely small

Can’t say it often enough, every month we get to vote one out without benfits.

I don’t think you could accuse the Liarbore party of being lazy. As far as I’m concerned they spent the last nine years busily trying to mold the people into groveling pig ignorant socialists.

The thing is MP’s took away free education they benefitted from. Made teaching stringent and competitive.
Then they don’t like being called to account, yet they’re public servants.
I find myself perplexed.

Sounds like a good reason for Helen Clark to resign her seat.
Exactly what does she do for her taxpayer money these days other than take holidays to Europe?

OECD… in respect to HC and to quote another famous Winston:
“They also serve who stand and wait [for an overseas diplomatic posting]”
Do we run a sweepstake on how long it’ll take?
