I see the bitter and twisted fiscal fool is still going to get his hands on tax payer money, the Dom Post are reporting that Kullen has been appointed iwi negotiator for Tuwharetoa.

“Former Treaty negotiations minister Michael Cullen is set to jump the fence and become a negotiator for central North Island iwi Tuwharetoa when he leaves Parliament.

Labour sources yesterday confirmed Dr Cullen would quit before the May 28 Budget, as reported by The Dominion Post on Wednesday, to take up the role.

Dr Cullen will bring intimate knowledge to the job from his former rolesas deputy prime minister and finance minister, as well as Treaty negotiations minister.

After the so-called “Treelords” settlement over central North Island forests last year, Dr Cullen credited Tuwharetoa paramount chief Tumu te Heuheu for bringing the iwi together to cut the $400 million deal that had eluded the Crown and Maori for more than 20 years.

Do not be taken in by Lange’s attempt to rewrite history, in the early days of the first Lange government Lange and Douglas were extremely close, the “misgivings” only came about because Lange let himself be derailed by pillow talk.

Cullen is a rare creature…. a finance minister who NOBODY in the private sector or overseas company/UN wants near them.

Good finance ministers are highly sought after…so what is Cullen doing?

Not even any letters postmarked from Harare/Pyongyang…. makes you wonder how bad he was.

The same man who on election year authorised the expenditure to nationalise NZ Rail when Labour were behind by over 20 points in the polls – and putting forward spending proposals so to guarantee that future finance ministers would be unable to perform their jobs. Cullen left the economy in worse shape than we did when Labour last fucked it up.

Jacob, answer that, as well as everything else you have been asked here or STFU.

Yes, he is/was a nasty sarcastic little prick, not unlike so many posters here. Led by an agenda driven, corrupt to the core HC, perhaps he was doing what Auntie Helen ordered ! Very few pollies of any party, rise above shoelace height in integrity stakes, JK looks squeaky clean at present, give him 6 yrs and his image will be as bad as most. It seems to go with the parliamentary territory, enter clean (seemingly) depart dirty.
And we are to blame! We put up with a corrupt electoral system, we re-elect known incompetents, we allow unelected party hacks (list candidates) to dictate through their votes, and impose laws that are demonstrably unwanted, we allow candidates to stand both in an electorate and as a list, and we fail miserably to demand accountability from all in authority. So, we bloody deserve the shit we end up in. Don’t blame the pollies for the mess they leave NZ in, because we have failed to demand absolute honesty and integrity from all in authority, we, the incredibly politically illiterate NZ electorate, are to blame. IMHO anyway !@

He wants to extricate himself from parliament before Bill English stands up in the house and delivers his first budget. Would ~~rickprick~~poor Mickey feel embarrassed at his diminished status? Mickysavage, when you know that the books are in the red and will be for some time, why would you go out and buy a 600 plus million dollar train set when it was worth only 1/6th of that not to mention the cost of maintaining it and building it up. . . The cullen fund has lost over 2 billion in one year. His arrogance was superceded only by his stupidity.

One curious thing about Michael Cullen – in Lange’s time, he was the only person in cabinet to put up any heated opposition to Roger Douglas’s plans. Despite this he never bothered to form an alliance with David Lange who was also known to have misgivings about Roger Dougkas,

Whatever good points Cullen may have as a person, it’s his legacy to NZ that I hold him in gross contempt for. To squander all those years of prosperity in pursuit of some twisted, and distorted failed ideaology, is just gut-wretching. So many lost opportunities to make this country great, where slaughted by Cullen on the alter of yesterday. Figurativley speaking, I hope this arrogant little commie, dies a death of a thousand cuts.

I find it incredible that anyone who was alleged to have studied economic history, could have drawn the sort of political beliefs out of it that Mikhael Kullensky did. I would very much like to know WHAT he studied OF economic history. Many people who have got doctorates have spent their entire academic careers focused on some specialty that they have a fascination for, and have no idea at all of the big picture or the real world.

On the subject of his comment in his maiden speech about ripping off the farmers for his education at Christ College – there was a news article in the press a few months ago (but not online) on which he regretted the comment saying that he had made it under great tension and in response to an interjection from Paul East.

That said, he was still too smart for his own good.

Don’t worry about history judging Kullen harshly Manolo, the current “aint” got that high an opinion of the little prick either.

And on that topic, when Klark and Kullen do leave the house I hope John Key makes the same silent statement that Klark did when Dr Brash gave his valedictory speech.

For those of you who forgot….the nasty piece of shit made a point of standing up and walking out of the house just as Brash began to speak.

I’m of the opinion history will judge Cullen very harshly.

He squandered almost a whole decade of opportunities for New Zealand, choosing instead to pursue his socialist dream of wealth redistribution. His tenure as minister of Finance has been a disaster for our country.

As I posted on the “Helen for UN” blog, the only thing Clark, Cullen and most of the Labour MP’s from the previous government deserve is a prison cell. They could keep the poodle company. Not a labour govt cell, a national govt cell where punishment is actually punishment.
