I think Sandra’s making the right career decision. The Dominion Post is far enough Left and PC enough already. It’s also revealing that Jim Tucker suggested the peace festival as a topic for her.

The mainstream media is already liberal and leftist. But apparently not enough for Sandra…

They state:
“In the article she argues that female genital cutting is a pre-marital investment associated with better marital outcomes. Which has got to be good for social and economic policy.”

Which sounds horrible as female genital cutting is roughly equivalent to cutting off the end of a man’s penis.
But if you read the paper or just the abstract, it becomes clear that the paper is actually suggesting measures to eliminate the practice of female genital cutting.

To quote the last sentence of the paper:
“We argue that in this case regulation results in a (potential) Pareto improvement, and that even weak regulation can be effective in eradicating FGC. ”

(Where FGC=female genital cutting.)

Or maybe it’s just the family courts judges.

To speak of “equality before the law” is not a factual statement that everyone is equal. Rather, it is a prescription that everyone should be treated equally. People aren’t born equal, but if they live in a just state, they can expect to be treated with equal consideration.

And by your “procreation” logic, the elderly should also not be able to marry, as they can no longer procreate? Same with the infertile? What about those of us using birth control?

There will never be full equality for pairings that do not consist of one member taken from each of the two distinct genders.

No matter how much the so called progressives rewrite the English language in the vain attempts to lead us to Nirvana no male/male or female/female pairing will ever be able to procreate.

I suggest those who are unhappy with this need will to take it up with a higher authority than their chosen elected official. For these people despite their lofty rhetoric about “everyone being born equal” cannot alter this inconvenient truth.

What is it with these dimwits (like Mr. Cresswell and Annette King) that they can’t seem to grasp that the thrust of your criticism is that Shearer is a credit to the Labour Party because of his clear thinking on such issues.

So called Libertarians, who run their blog like a soviet gulag, always seeking out piffling things to complain about while important things like their electoral support drops to about 1000 votes.

See they’re still posturing in the blogosphere as right wing too, when just about anytime I’ve ever crossed words with them they’re as violently opposed to right wing ideas as the most brain damaged leftist. Given their leadership’s irrational fear of criticism, maybe they should just settle for “chicken” wing.

There is more than one way to read that sentence.

And some of us here don’t think it’s much of an idea to bag Labour’s David Shearer for advocating ideas that you are supposed to agree with.

Same principle really, isn’t it.
