Glender Fryer campaigning
April 28th, 2009 at 1:39 pm by David FarrarLabour aspiring candidate for Mt Albert Glenda Fryer put out a release yesterday:
After receiving news that francisee Chander Satija was to have the Sandringham Post Office and Kiwibank closed down, Cr Fryer wrote a letter to NZ Post and met with Auckland representatives to ask them to reconsider their decision. NZ Post undertook to do this. NZ Post have yet to give Mr Satija their final decision. …
Concludes Councillor Fryer “ I know the franchaisee Chander Satija has given NZ Post over 500 letters from local people saying how much they depend on the services of the post office and bank. Many locals feel they also want to show their faces and stand behind the only bank in Sandringham to tell NZ Post they love their local services and don’t want them closed down. “
So that evil NZ Post is closing down the Sandringham Post Office and Kiwibank. Maybe Glenda should lobby some of the Directors. Perhaps a Mr Shale Chambers? It should be fairly easy for her to lobby him, as he is her husband.

Then she could have a word with the newest director the financial genius who bought Kiwirail for us. He won’t care about profit and loss so thats two votes.

She sounds like that dumb shit Anderton – I remember him saying once Post Office should not be closed down because the were “Social” places.
Ooooh lets go meet our friends and hang out at the Post Office. That sound like a lot of fun.
Anyway this is the 21st century – who the hell goes to the bank apart from to re-fix the mortgage?

Hmm, time to play devil’s advocate here:
Glenda Fryer has declared herself to be a candidate for Labour’s nomination in Mt Albert.
She needs some stories quickly to portray herself as a people’s champion in advance of the candidate selection and the actual election.
She conjures up a quick “community win” by fighting against a closure of a Kiwibank franchisee, which always goes down well with the Labour rank and file (think fighting against Prebble and closure of NZ Post offices in the 1980s).
By some miracle, she gets the NZ Post Board to change its mind – the Kiwibank in Sandringham is saved! Hurrah for Glenda, who convinced the NZ Post Board to overturn some lowly operational decision.
I just wonder whether this was all some setup….
And if so, does it break any corporate governance rules if Shale Chambers helped his wife with a good news story in advance of her selection process for Labour in Mt Albert?

BTW DPF, you spelt “Glenda” wrong in your blog title.
Unless you were making a specific reference to her genda.

The Government must act! Before the by-election it must explain to the residents of Mt Albert that their problem is due to the NZ Post board, who were all appointed by the last Labour government and are all lefty hacks. And then it must sack the board, and name and shame the directors in the media.

A bit rich considering the thousands of post offices and banks closed down during the time of the Lange government, in rural areas 60-100 miles away from the next big community.
Vote:In Aucklkand you probably only have to travel another 2-3km to strrike a bank or a post shop.
Different in rural areas where there are no banks therefore no ATM machines. But in big city it is so necessary, because you need to cater for the helpless Labour voters.

davidp Its dipshits like your attitude thats gotten NZ to the low point of governance that we are at.

FFS David, how many degrees of separation do you think there is between a Director and the person who makes decisions about a branch in Sandringham? Do you really think that the Director of a publicly-owned company would change a business decision on a local branch because his partner is running for office?
[DPF: Branch closures could well be something to be signed off on at board level.]

Wow, Labour flunkies are in neck deep throughout the whole trough. Whats the bet she has close friends in other high places that she hasn’t managed to disclose?
Keithng – don’t try and blur the lines too much pal, you may think that a relationship between a husband and wife isn’t that close – going by Dear Leaders relationship, but in real life it’s a lot closer. Good try.

She’s just vile… and it’s a franchisee anyway, so it’s not something NZ Post can do much about, short of paying him to keep it open.

Thirty years ago, back in the mid 70′s before I knew any better, I belonged to the VUW Labour Club and Fryer and Judith Tizard were great pals. I think if Fryer is selected as Labour’s Mt. Albert candidate then they will just be getting Tizard in drag.
