  1. Chthoniid (1,709) Says:

And this morning, we continue the ‘small’ theme

    http://chthoniid.zenfolio.com/img/v8/p663896788-5.jpg

…a small respite from Worth, Bain et al.

Enjoy your morning coffees (I will!)

  2. lofty (1,199) Says:

Ah well done Chthoniid..a friday morning photo of phil goof clutching at straws.

  3. toad (3,228) Says:

At last – a Citizens Initiated Referendum petition I can support!

  4. Whafe (636) Says:

Am thinking Philin Goof has no more straws to clutch onto…………. Time to fess up and clear the air Philin Goof, not in the genes of Philin nor Labour….

  5. fredinthegrass (207) Says:

The straw is Worth(less) – you can see the blight on it.

What is the wee beastie Chthoniid?
Coffee with Andrew Felton at Sanson this morning

  6. Ed Snack (580) Says:

Once again a greenie thinks we can legislate wealth. Increase the minimum wage to $15, why not $50, then we can ALL be rich. Once again, greens find it easy to be generous with other peoples money, never their own.

  7. Murray (8,734) Says:

Aiming to raise unemployment again toad. Another demonstration that socialism is a mental disorder.

  8. Buggerlugs (1,609) Says:

(Melissa Lee) replied to a question about how she would survive on the minimum wage of $12.50 an hour saying: “I think I am currently on $2 an hour.”

Had she said, “some weeks it feels like I’m working for $2 an hour” would this have been beaten up as much by the MSM? I think not. Another non-story makes the headlines.

  9. Whafe (636) Says:

At times of crisis it is good to understand that not everyone displays the same reaction to the same set of circumstances. The following highlights this.

The British are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats in Islamabad and have raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross”. Brits have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to a “Bloody Nuisance”. The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was during the great fire of 1666.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide”. The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender”. The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ‘s white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country’s military capability.

It’s not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert. Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Flamboyant Military Posturing”. Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides”.

The Germans also increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbour” and “Lose”.

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Americans meanwhile are carrying out pre-emptive strikes on all of their allies, just in case.

    And at a local level…

New Zealand has also raised its security levels – from “baaa ” to “BAAAA!” Due to continuing defence cutbacks (the airforce being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister’s bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is “Shut, I hope Australia woll come end riscue es”. In the event of invasion, New Zealanders will be asked to gather together in a strategic defensive position called “Bondi”.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She’ll be right, mate”. Three more escalation levels remain: “Crikey!”, “I think we’ll need to cancel the barbie this weekend” and “The barbie is cancelled”. There has not been a situation in Australias’ history that has warranted the use of the final escalation level.

  10. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

@ Ed Snack – 8.57am – agree wholeheartedly Ed – we’ve just hired an admin person, who we are paying well in excess of $15/hr – and that person is worth every cent. The hire was based on attitude, not skills – we reckon you can teach skills, but not attitude. However, if we were told that we HAD to pay AT LEAST $15/hr, we in all probability would not have made the hire, and would have contracted the work out to our accountant or some such person. Employers take punts every day – why burden them further with this kind of compulsive nonsence?

  11. stephen (4,058) Says:

Had she said, “some weeks it feels like I’m working for $2 an hour” would this have been beaten up as much by the MSM? I think not. Another non-story makes the headlines.

I think if you read it again you’ll see their point is that Lee is really putting in the work for that 3rd place.

  12. Don the Kiwi (682) Says:

    Very good Whafe.

    Is it subject to copyright?

  13. Murray (8,734) Says:

Hey Wharfe, at least the French have memory. Unlike us.
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/2489820/Kiwi-pilots-action-lives-on-in-France
    http://www.ambafrance-nz.org/article.php3?id_article=466

Given the crap that the ill informed throw at them I wonder why they bother though.

  14. Don the Kiwi (682) Says:

    C’mon Murray.

Lighten up – even the French make those sort of jokes.

  15. Chthoniid (1,709) Says:

fredinthegrass- the wee beastie is one of our weevil species, but this guy’s easily overlooked as he’s only 3mm long. You’ve got a view of his underbelly.

  16. wreck1080 (2,009) Says:

    Slashs mum died. Very sad.

  17. philu (10,919) Says:

    here you go..!

….you can read all about yourselves..

    http://whoar.co.nz/2009/the-paralyzing-fears-of-the-right/

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  18. Brian Smaller (3,409) Says:

She died of lung cancer and the Stuff article has a nice pic of Slash smoking. Dumb fuck.

  19. philu (10,919) Says:

    and this is funny/well-written/non-ideological..

    http://whoar.co.nz/2009/the-fiat-ization-of-the-american-male-can-a-nation-of-dudes-whose-sexual-self-image-was-built-on-macho-jeeps-survive-the-rise-of-the-little-mouse/

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  20. philu (10,919) Says:

btw dpf..are you going to do a bye-election roundup..?

..telling us how well melissa has done..?

..you could also list her linguistic/crime-prevention contributions to the new zealand zeitgeist..?

    ..eh..?

    ..tho’..seriously..

..it has all turned a bit brown and runny in the mouth..eh..?

    ..phil(whoar.co.nz)

  21. Shunda barunda (2,042) Says:

Has anyone seen the scary washing machine on trademe? the description and answers to questions are hilerious!

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Laundry/Washing-machines/Top-loader-6kg-under/auction-223309871.htm

  22. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

    “here you go..!”

Philip Ure is a detestable yellow backed loser who shamelessly uses the popularity of Kiwiblog to try and draw readers to his own site, a completely unreadable load of infantile fifth rate communist crap that couldn’t get a hit in a light year.

There should be a demerits system for the abuse of Kiwiblog by nauseating communists so devoid of self respect and with so little shame they use a right wing pro freedom blog to try and attract hits to their own communist big government sites.

I suggest such an offence should attract a life time ban.

  23. philu (10,919) Says:

    and of course…

..those former national party voters in mt albert can/should..

..as a double-protest to the national hierachy..

..for their double-insult of spurning their well-liked/respected candidate..ravi..

..and foisting the hapless/unfortunate lee upon them..

(..and making them part and parcel of the laughingstock that has been the campaign from lee/national..)

    (plus..as a spoiler-vote against shearer/labour..)

..they can/should vote for russel norman..

..they can voice their displeasure .. and give their party bosses the rebuke they need/deserve..

..with no fear of being ‘disloyal’..and bringing down a government..

..plus..i don’t share the view that all natty-supporters are necessarily environmental visigoths…

..so they too will be able to safely vote for russel..

..i think many will be surprised at how well norman will do tomorrow..

as there are equally valid reasons for green-leaning labour votors..

    ..to give norman the tick..

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  24. AG (1,232) Says:

    reddy,
“There should be a demerits system for the abuse of Kiwiblog”

Would this not drastically curtail your everyday activities, reddy? Applied evenhandedly, how long do you think you’d last??

  25. Manolo (6,106) Says:

“I suggest such an offence should attract a life time ban.”

I second the motion. The parasite Whoar should be banned to Siberia and forced to work for the rest of his useless life.

  26. philu (10,919) Says:

    reddy’s good today..!

    isn’t he..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  27. lofty (1,199) Says:

AG I reckon reddy will last longer here, than goof at bullys BBQ

  28. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“Would this not drastically curtail your everyday activities, reddy?”

Agatha, it does not surprise me in the least to see you, so totally in the grip of socialism and its inherent lack of morality, adulterating other poster’s comments so as to alter their meaning. Despicable.

  29. philu (10,919) Says:

oo..!..look..!..manolo has crawled out from underneath the other side of the (recently-lifted) rock..!

    alas poor manolo..!

    ..he once had a brain..when younger..(so i’m told..)

..but many years/decades of daily excessive alcohol abuse ..

.. have rendered his brain to little more than a piece of gorgonzola cheese..

..this has severely restricted any linguistic/language abilities he may have once had..

    ..and in his dotage..

..he has been reduced to a few shouted slogans..

    ..(and even these..tire him..)

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  30. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Ure, few communists have the ability to write in such a smug, narcissitic and despicable tone as you.

I hereby award you Redbaiter’s “Most Loathsome Leftist” award for today.

Even tho the day is only half over, and being as aware as I am of what stinking lows leftists can sink to, I feel pretty safe in my estimation that there’ll be no other worthy contenders. Unless perhaps Borker shows up.

  31. Nookin (1,565) Says:

    Shunda B
    Brilliant.

  32. Brian Smaller (3,409) Says:

Red – I just ignore him now. Try it – you will like it.

  33. philu (10,919) Says:

    heh-heh..!

glad to have made your day..reddy..!

    ..btw..i’m neither left..nor right..

..these are both arcane structures that must be swept away..

.. i don’t look to repeat the mistakes of the past..

..but to strike out on a new path..

..one that balances the needs of all..

..with the needs of our planet..

..it is as simple as that..

    ..eh..?

..why don’t you pack away yr stereotypes reddy..?

..and try thinking outside of your rut..?

..btw..you are in grave danger of becoming even more cartoonish..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  34. big bruv (9,840) Says:

Phool, knocked over any Chemists in the last few weeks?

  35. philu (10,919) Says:

    nah bruv..!

    ..gave that up in ’76..

    ..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  36. bearhunter (859) Says:

“… i don’t look to repeat the mistakes of the past..”

And yet you spout the same bilge day after day after day. One of these days your big bag of punctuation will be empty and the words on their own will show that you have absolutely nothing to contribute to either the blogosphere or real life*.

*Real life: The everyday world that the rest of us live in. I thought I should explain that for you, since you clearly haven’t a bull’s notion what it is.

  37. Jeff83 (751) Says:

Redbaiter in a rant again, now there is a surprise.

On a more random note stumbled across that Farrar Farrier interview with the Veronicas a while back. Was pretty classic.

  38. philu (10,919) Says:

    hello bearhunter..have we met before..?..if so..i don’t remember..

i’d be fascinated to hear your definitions of ‘real life’..

..i’m sure you are an intellectual giant amongst men..

..but i do have some paint drying..

..that i must go and watch..

    ..eh..?

    maybe some other time..

    eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  39. big bruv (9,840) Says:

But you are still on drugs Phool….

  40. Murray (8,734) Says:

phil doesn’t remember something… well theres a shocker.

  41. philu (10,919) Says:

    just the magic collie-herb..man..

..i have trimmed my pharmacological travelling show..

..down to the most benign of all the herbs..

..and i mean..if you want an object lesson in alcohol abuse/brain-damage..?

    ..(your ‘drug’ of choice..eh bruv..?..)

..you really need look no further than the unfortunate manolo..

    ..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  42. Brian Smaller (3,409) Says:

Please – please – just ignore Philu. I know it is hard not responding but you are on a hiding to nowhere. It is like arguing with a two year old. Frustrating and pointless.

  43. philu (10,919) Says:

    oo..!..muzzas’ here..!

    ..break out the zig-zags..!

    ..it’s a party..!

    (psst..!..muzza does dress-ups..eh..?..for fun..!

    ..nothing infantile about that..eh..?)

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  44. philu (10,919) Says:

brian..you are all the smaller for this..

    (and thanks for ‘responding’..eh..?..)

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  45. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“Please – please – just ignore Philu.”

You’re right and I will. (as I usually do)

Before I do that tho, I just felt it necessary to point out to him on his return how I regard him as one of the most loathsome and repugnant cowards and liars on the net.

  46. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

Unlike yourself, a simple liar on the net.

  47. philu (10,919) Says:

    aww..!

    reddy..!

    ..was it something i said..?

(and hey..!..shouldn’t you be calling talkback radio..at this time of day…?..)

    ..(i’d ask reddy to table a ‘lie’..but..y’know..!..)

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  48. bearhunter (859) Says:

Philu, I make no claims to being an intellectual giant, except by comparison with yourself. I will now take Brian’s advice and ignore you, as it would be unsporting of me to enter a battle of wits against an unarmed opponent.

  49. Murray (8,734) Says:

I give tutorials on maths, science and history with catapults. While I do it I wear clothes. Usually jeans an a sweatshirt with a hardhat. Not sure how this qualifies as “dressing up” but apprently its a slur of some kind and warrants sniggering from an unemployed gibbering tool.

phool meanwhile is clearly a mentally impaired ilegal drug abuser bludging off the rest of us hence we should all rush off to his site to bask in the the glow of his obvious wisdom.

I contribute to society (wearing clothes) while this turd is a proud law breaker and publicly funded sponge and that apparently makes me bad. Interesting. I’d say the labout party probably doesn’t want your support… but given your namesakes affection for the another dodgey invidual of no visible merit I’d say you’re just their sort of person.

    God help them.

  50. Rachael Rich (171) Says:

Who’s the little weevil that gave Chthoniids pic a thumbs down eh!… eh!. (…) (..)…?

  51. philu (10,919) Says:

    i didn’t say you were ‘bad’..muzza..

i’ll defend your rights to do dressups..

..but do you think it is wise to go out..in public..?

    ..(ahem..!..)..in full costume..?

    and hey..!

“..Usually jeans an a sweatshirt with a hardhat. ”

    very village people..eh..?

    that one..

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  52. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

Where the French lead, will NZ follow?

France’s EU defying “three strikes” law that was intended to pull internet connections of repeat copyright infringers has been severely criticised by the French Constitutional Council and now looks unlikely to proceed.

The French Constitutional Council ripped into the new law, stating that the principle of “Innocent until proven guilty” cannot be overturned by the creation a new non-judicial High Authority.

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/technology/news/article.cfm?c_id=5&objectid=10577855

  53. philu (10,919) Says:

“..hence we should all rush off to his site to bask in the the glow of his obvious wisdom..”

    muzza..!..

    ..i’m blushing..!

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  54. Murray (8,734) Says:

The hard hat is OSH regulations you stoner.

Apparently the sight of fully clothed men with protective head gear makes phool think of the village people.

What a sneering messed up little drug fucked freudian nightmare you are.

I believe at this point we’ll leave you to your drugs, 70′s record collection and fantasies. You have as much to offer as always.

  55. philu (10,919) Says:

but now that you mention it muzza..

    ..as on most days..

    ..there are 20+ new/fresh stories/links..over at whoar..

..and as i am a generalist..

..there are many of them appealing to readers of all ideological stripes/bents..

    ..eh..?

..all you need to bring..is a brain..

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  56. philu (10,919) Says:

i still have some tapes muzza..

    ..i know..!..i know..!

but they have these wicked soul compilations on them..

    ..i can’t bring myself to shed them…

    and..

“..Apparently the sight of fully clothed men with protective head gear makes phool think of the village people..”

    not all men muzza..

    ..just you..

    ..it’s ‘cos of the/your penchant for dress-ups..eh..?..

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  57. Manolo (6,106) Says:

“and as i am a generalist..”

Since when “generalist” became a euphemism for :
    1. A useless person, lacking any skills whatsoever, who does not earn a living but relies on the welfare state to satisfy his miserable needs.
    2. A deranged individual, whom, with ample time in his hands, spends his addled days baking goods for comsumption by other parasites like himself.

  58. philu (10,919) Says:

“..What a sneering messed up little drug fucked freudian nightmare you are..”

    you’re getting warm….!

    ..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  59. Shunda barunda (2,042) Says:

    Phool said:

“..this has severely restricted any linguistic/language abilities he may have once had..”

And to think he was talking about someone else!!

    …..eh…?…

  60. philu (10,919) Says:

(psst..!..that is one of manolos’ demented-slogans..

    ..y’know..like i was talking about..?..)

..he figured out the ‘baking-allegation’ all by himself too..!

.(.his carers are encouraged. by this (rare) glimmer of mental activity…eh..?)

    ..and manolo..!

..how many ‘drinks’ have you had today..?

    ..darling..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  61. philu (10,919) Says:

    muzza said..

“..I contribute to society (wearing clothes)..”

    brilliant..!

..it should be on a t-shirt/bumper-sticker..

    ..eh..?

the involuntary humour of the truly demented/not very bright….

    ..eh..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  62. philu (10,919) Says:

    um..!

is that everyone done ‘n dusted..?

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  63. Ratbiter (1,265) Says:

    Redbaiter Says:

“Philip Ure is a detestable yellow backed loser who shamelessly uses the popularity of Kiwiblog to try and draw readers to his own site, a completely unreadable load of infantile fifth rate communist crap that couldn’t get a hit in a light year.”

    A LIE.

Any socialist-indoctrinated, half-educated commie halfwit knows that a light year is a unit of distance, not time.

Just lies and smears – that’s all you ever have, eh baiter?

  64. Shunda barunda (2,042) Says:

    Phew loo,
Why so agressive today? Has a week of doing nothing made you stir crazy?

  65. Brian Smaller (3,409) Says:

I think Red means that philu’s blog couldn’t get a hit by any sentient being between Sol and somewhere beyond the Oort Cloud in interstellar space.

  66. Brian Smaller (3,409) Says:

    Phew loo,
Why so agressive today? Has a week of doing nothing made you stir crazy?

Doing nothing is all he does. He may be grumpy from the fact that he had to get off the couch once or twice this week.

  67. Robert Black (423) Says:

The trouble with New Zealand (update).

This is what I wrote in my first novel The Fake Celebrity In China, published 2007:

“New Zealand was the same. Almost exactly the same. In fact, I wonder if there is some kind of invisible time warp line that surrounds the country. Something like the Bermuda Triangle.

They seem to be worshipping the same celebrities that they worshipped the last time I was there five years ago. There is talk that Judy Bailey will be made Queen. The All Blacks win, the All Blacks lose. The people are happy, the people are sad.

I just wish people hadn’t kept saying things to me like, “China eh? Now that must be weird? I bet those little guys are weird?”

There was just no polite way to tell them about my discovery. About the imaginary line. So I just agreed, went with the majority, the rest of the sheep, or the herd as Nietzsche described it.

“Yeah. But it’s fun,” was my usual response.

I missed the pace and abundant energy of China. I have previously observed that in Ireland there was a kind of magic in the air. Now I have observed that in New Zealand there is a certain kind of deadness in the air. Unless you travel you would never realize this as with the invisible time warp line. The people certainly seem oblivious to it all. Perhaps this is why Kiwis are naturally flightless. Maybe they are simply not meant to travel, yet so many do. Ignorance is bliss, trapped within that secure and cosy circumference, able to happily worship their celebrities and on most occasions themselves, with little or no disruption from outsiders.

I now see New Zealand as a beautiful green apple, with a rotten core. As long as you do not bite too deeply everything is just shiny and delicious. So it pays not to be hungry there, for anything found too deep.

I have a strong desire to shed New Zealand like a snake would a used-up skin. I know that sounds shallow. Did the good old days end with big Norm Kirk and Buck Shelford? It seems the old Kiwi sayings like, ‘Good on ya’ mate!’ and ‘She’ll be right!’ have disappeared forever. Perhaps Fred Dagg took them with him when he moved to Australia.

Now it seems everyone wants to see you fail and is judgmental. Australians are not like this at all in my experience. They are optimists. But New Zealand could never be Australia. Is it the weather? The bloody Maoris? The increased number of English immigrants?

It’s hard to say for certain. New Zealanders are conservative, in many ways. And one cannot help but wonder whether this is the English influence. Traditionally New Zealand was a farming country. Farming communities are conservative. Add to that the lack of diversity of races, compared to Australia and the USA and I suppose it should be of no surprise. Small towns, small minds.

Unfortunately for me conservative equals boring at this time in my life. Of course, this may change. I love New Zealand and will always call it my home and will no doubt return when I have a family.

But I feel the people could open their minds a little more . It would do the country good if the cities became a bit more cosmopolitan. And drop those fake snobby educated superior accents. Alas, the standard advice for someone daring to criticise our beloved country on most occasions goes something like this: “Well, if you don’t like it, fk off then!” And of course the standard reaction upon hearing that invaluable advice is to do exactly that, as evidenced by the population growth and brain drain figures. This does seem to be a general hindrance to positive change and of course adds to the insular conservative nature of the population. But who knows, perhaps an international influx will fix the problem. In this regard the current labour government appears to be helping.

With some relief and warmth I found Dave Dobbyn and Bic Runga were still creating beautiful music, holding some kind of artistic flag for the confused country. Thank God for the artists.”

I have to say returning for a short time now, I feel things have gotten worse.

Things that have observed more clearly this time:

New Zealand are a nation of sheep. It was interesting to note the tiny rate of people who would complain about restaurants face to face. To me, this reflects the follow the leader, just go with the flow, almost sheep-like mentality of the nation.

In this regard this helps the out of control, over sensational nature of the media, especially TV1. This Worth thing is a typical example of lack of professionalism and judgment in journalism. Investigative journalism? What investigations? Close-up? F up? More like it. All that build up music and crap. What was that crappy overly-sensational US programme, Hard Talk or something. Is that what they are copying? Twenty years or more behind the times.

They irresponsibly, take what they consider sensational news items which will be good for the ratings, and run their angle on it, with no checks and balances. In such a tiny sheep like population, such a lack of objectivity this is to the point of dangerous. Basically, it is like Oprah Winfrey, with her ex-parte audiences (what she says goes on her show, ever seen anyone disagree successfully on her show with any success?) and in crowds shaping the minds of the world.

In this case it is a small group of people doing the same to New Zealand.

This adds to the conservative, judgmental, confused nature of the people. Too PC? Of course we are. We are too scared to be anything else.

Another problem about the docile sheep-like nature of the people is that people from overseas come into the country, see how docile and conservative and sheepish the people are then launch themselves too easily into high positions in politics (list MP’s for example) and soon find themselves in the media where they become even more powerful, with little time and/or skills/integrity and/or qualifications.

Then when they get shot down, it all gets run in our head-lines. Tall poppynism.

So, what the f is up with this country?

How can any of it be fixed?

Is it in the air, like I feel, or in the water, or the over-priced milk, fish and meat and cheese?

As many people have said to me on previous occasions:

“If you don’t like it then fk off!”

OK, thanks for the advice. I will take it yet again and add a little to the brain drain figures.

  84. Bok (740) Says:

I have yet to meet a vegan or even a vegetarian who is not constantly sick, have a flu, or some skin disease.
There is absolutely nothing healthy about being vegetarian.
No matter how long we jump up and down shouting that it is healthy, it simply is not.
In the now immortal words of Ron White:
” I did not get to the top of the food chain, to eat fucking carrots”

  85. Bok (740) Says:

I had a great conversation with a vegan the other day. She works with my wife, and has the worst record for taking sick leave. She was eating a vegan sausage!!!! And she was telling me how healthy it was. Except she was rotten with flu. When I mentioned the fact, she blamed the flu on others saying she caught it from the meat eaters in at work.
I was happy to point out that my body work so hard to process all that unhealthy dairy and meat products, that it kicked her flu germ’s arse when they tried to infect me. She did not find that funny.

Just goes to show that tofu really screws with the funny muscles.

  86. shady (239) Says:

“Seven months pregnant driver three times over limit. A seven months pregnant woman was found to be nearly three times over the alcohol limit after a car crash, a court was told. Defence counsel Julian Hannam told New Plymouth District Court yesterday Stewart gave birth on May 3.

He conceded she had a drinking problem, had two previous convictions, but asked Judge Alan Roberts whether the possibility of home detention could be explored.

The judge obliged, remanding her on bail for sentence on July 23.” http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10578086

Unbelievable – third conviction – and being given the green light for home detention. How about detox?!! With bars on the window. What chance do her kids have?

  87. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

    Worth’s gone!

    http://keepingstock.blogspot.com/2009/06/worth-resigns.html

  88. Chthoniid (1,709) Says:

Aah Bok, I’ve been a vegetarian for over twenty-years and have had few health complaints. Generally I put that down to the regular glass of single-malt. It sets up a hostile environment for most diseases. (And I will eat fish or crocodile overseas, so I’m not religious about it).

But a western diet + sedentary life style remains a pretty good way to die early in many varied ways. Rectal-colonic cancers are escalating as a major killer in the West. And that’s pretty much a diet-lifestyle choice. I don’t really fancy some chap cutting away polyps ‘down there’ thankyou.

Now veganism I am skeptical about. Partly because the food is so damn bland. And partly because so many vegans are so humourless.

Plus I’m afraid that being around 4 to 5 metre crocs in the estuarine zone of the Northern Territory, does cause one to revise exactly where we sit on the food chain :)

  89. Don the Kiwi (682) Says:

    shady.

.what chance do her kids have?”

Ask Philu while he’s trolling here – that was his mum.

  90. Bok (740) Says:

    Chthoniid
You would be the exception, but then you do eat fish and you do eat crock. I am very partial to skippy myself. Lean meat that melts when prepared correctly. Dont get me wrong. I totally understand where people come from that do not want to eat meat because they feel an empathy for the animal. Happy with that, as long as they also then never wear leather, or use soap or various other products including some plastics (read computers) that all include animal products.

I wont eat anything that I am not willing to kill myself, and I will not eat any meat that is not free range. (and not pretend free range either.) I also believe that if you kill something you must be prepared to eat every part of that animal.

What I dont agree with is the “health” benefits. Humans like big cats etc, were designed to eat meat. We are highly dependent on protein.

The thought of hawks and eagles eating fruit and berries, and lions and crocodiles eating grass and seaweed is stupid. So is suggesting that we were set up to survive on fruits and berries.

I realise that that’s not what you are saying.

The other thing that really gets me (once again not aimed at you) is the thought that somehow fish do not count for as much as say sheep of cows. I know the “I cant kill an animal for my food” types who will eat fish? What is with that?

  91. dog_eat_dog (514) Says:

Yep Phil and as I remember, at the time you had a gammy leg and the wind could blow you over, now why did you have to make it personal? I also remember that at the time you were wrapped up like a mummy and i was wearing shorts and short sleeves.
And to take it even a bit further the little puppy you had with you looked decidedly healthier.

I still do two and three day bush hikes, you?
I still do at least three to four dives a month, you?

Mate if you want a pissing contest, make sure you need a piss.

  96. Bok (740) Says:

And if you are going to claim bullshit as fact as speak to people who actually spent some time in
nature. Have a look at how many primates are omnivores.
Suggesting that because 10 000 years ago the theory is that we might have been vegos
is reaching so far. But it explains why the greens are such luddites. If you want to go back to how you were 10 000 years ago
, sweet. The rest of us have evolved.

  97. RightNow (3,915) Says:

Could the Green defense team explain this comment posted at http://www.salient.org.nz/features/fuck-off-sue-bradford/comment-page-1#comments
“When Sue was starting her life, working at the Auckland People’s Center (1992ish), she would often bring her kids into work. When they ran wild (as they often did) she would smack them really hard where-ever her hand would make contact, not just the smacking but yell at them (even though they were less than one foot from her mouth). ”
