I question just how deeply “inside” the New Zealand Herald’s business and political snout “The Insider” is. It’s particularly grim if it’s one of their gallery reporters. After all, on Friday 29 May on page B23 (the day before the election of a new Green co-leader) it was reported: “The Insider understands that Sue Bradford has been running a powerful campaign among the membership and is the favourite to win.” Well, I suppose they had a 50% chance.

    On a similar-but-different note…

I see that the Greens voted AGAINST the introduction of the boy-racer legislation. That seems strange – the Greens HATE cars with a passion, but they side with the law-breakers here!

I guess that’s what happen when you elect an anarchist as co-leader

Come on IV2 your reasoning here in non-sensical. Just because they “hate” cars does not mean they will vote for any legislation to do with them. Good to see that the Greens are making a stand against populist legislation that will do little to solve the problem. National’s approach here is to enact more laws so it looks like it is doing something, whereas most admit that it is a prosecuting or resourcing issue within the police. This is another case of a government making bad law to feed the cries of the masses – home invasion leg. anyone?!

  4. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Inventory, the boy racer legislation is just a grand standing crock. It is something Labour would do, and something National should never have done. National are just Labour in fresh suits.

    Breaking news!!!

Richard Worth has resigned from his ministerial role for “personal reasons”

  6. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

    Good

  7. Mike78 (72) Says:

I guess i would find it pretty “personal” if my boss told me im a bit of a moron and asked me to resign.

  8. wreck1080 (2,009) Says:

how can the bloody doctors justify a 6% fee increase?

When the countries income is going down, yet doctors think they are special?

Same applies to power companies by the way. I see trustpower profit increased 25% this year too.

    Disgraceful.

You must be confused, the law breakers are being charged and dealt to already, this law is to deal to the people who aren’t actually breaking any laws, but they still don’t like the look of.

  10. Ross Miller (1,481) Says:

Can I thank all bloggers who have taken the time and trouble, both on and off net, to congratulate me on my appointment to the New Zealand Order of Merit. I have just returned from the East Coast (Te Araroa) where Victor 3 Company held a reunion celebrating the 40th anniversary of our return from Vietnam. I was special that they were able to be there with me when the award was announced. I may wear the medal but it is really their award and an award for the entire Vietnam veteran community.

What made it all the more special and perhaps unique is that my son-in-law, Commander Blair Gerritsen, RNZN, received exactly the same award on the same day in recognition of his captaincy of HMNZS Te Mana into the Gulf last year as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

    Thank you one and all.

  11. Right of way is Way of Right (996) Says:

Congratulations Ross. I have had the pleasure of serving with your son-in-law. Awards seem richly deserved by you both!

  12. Murray (8,734) Says:

    Congratulations Ross and Blair.

  13. village idiot (748) Says:

Richard Worth, worth his weight in gold to Labour.

5pm the site is inordinately slow to load this evening. The hold-up seems to occur while:

  15. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

OMG – Suzi Quatro is 59 today!!

    unbelievable

  16. Ross Miller (1,481) Says:

Gueez … the Labour Party apologists have lost it completely … again. I get negative Khama for thanking people for their kind words. So in the socialist lexicon good manners = zip. Understand completely.

  17. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

Thank you and your son in law for their service to the country Mr. Miller. A shame though that you are not more aware of the fifth column within NZ today who seek to incrementally destroy everything you fought for.

  18. Tauhei Notts (1,016) Says:

    Completely different subject this.
I am sure that I heard it correctly from John Tamihere on radio this afternoon. He was chatting about Dover Samuels and how poor old Dover was getting in the pooh.
John said, and I think I have got this right, that John was in Dover’s office when a leading Labour Party person rang and said that we have all the dirt on you, Dover. Make a donation of $50,000 to the Party and it will not be leaked to the media.
“What shall I do?, asked Dover.
“Tell them to get stuffed” replied Tamihere.
Whenever I hear stories like this I am extremely glad that our country got rid of that most corrupt government. Those bastards have absolutely no shame whatsoever.

  19. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,528) Says:

So that’s how Mike Williams is passing his time these days.

  20. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,528) Says:

UK Labour is about to get cocked in the council and EU elections tomorrow.

Will probably be a bigger cocking than Helen Clark got on 8 November. Should be good.

  21. Banana Llama (1,105) Says:

I’m looking forwards to it OCED the blood letting is going to be ghastly, i wonder if Gordon Brown shirt will survive beyond the month.
