would lamers who know little about this issue please refrain from referring to the Certification of Live Birth (not an actual Birth Certificate) and previously debunked attempts at neutralising this issue on Snopes and elsewhere.

All Obama has to do to make this entire issue go away is show his actual Birth Certificate, and cease spending millions in legal fees to keep it under wraps.

(I know that’s too hard for sundry leftists)

What the fuck is wrong with these morons who keep citing this fact as if it is some kind of factor to be considered in letting crims out on to the streets.

The reason there are more NZers in jail is because there are more crimes committed. NZ is second in overall crime. Naturally the country should be second in incarceration rates.

The only logical point to be made from this is that more criminals should be in jail.

The responsibility of the justice system is to keep citizens free from crime, not pander to the people committing it.

The Birth Certicate issue has been going for what, maybe 12 months? That is plenty of time for Obama’s accolytes to make a high quality forgery of the full-form certificate and plant it in one of the two hospitals in Hawaii that he claims he was born in. Perhap he is waiting till the ‘birthers’ ae screaming louder before dropping this bomb on them?

Unfortunately the general public mood is for hard-nosed treatment of criminals, especially from victims. If politicians want to have a majority in Parliament they have to factor this into their policies, even if it is not the ‘optimum’ solution. The CJ may be right, but her views are quite politically ‘unwelcome’ at this time.

I am sure John Key and co would like nothing better than to empty out prisons if there was some better way of dealing with offenders and there was confidence in society that they would not re-offend.

In this regard, I consider it was wrong that a 89 year old person was imprisoned for historic sexual offending. It serves no useful purpose than to appease the victims. It is not even a deterrence since it was historic offending and would have minimal deterrence effect on any current potential offending. He apparently did mislead the judge on the matter of reparation which ‘triggered’ imprisonment, but one has to ask – was he a bit ga-ga when he claimed he could pay reparation.

Shows on CNN relating to the birth certificate issue drew a huge increase in viewers. Mainstream websites touching on the issue have been rewarded with massive jumps in visits.

When there is obviously such interest in this issue, why does the bulk of the mainstream media refuse to award it athe attention it deserves??

Because they are all in the tank for Obama. Destroyers of democracy.

All that has to happen to neutralize this whole issue is for Obama to provide his actual Birth Certificate.

The same certificates that McCain and Bush had to supply.

Its that easy.

Why doesn’t he do it???

The mainstream media subpoened George Bush’s dental records, and faked documents to try and prove he deserted his post at the National guard.

That they do not ask Obama to prove he was born in the US, and show his Birth Certificate, is proof of how utterly politically corrupted our news media has become.

When will the Nats make student unionism voluntary?
Again in the Nexus yesterday I had to read the usual left wing dribble about the evil tories not doing enough for students. This got me thinking. If we say that the govt already subsidises about 80% of course fees, (average fee being say $4000), a student can get an interest free loan, and student allowance of around 6-$7000 per year, the government can subsidise each tertiary student in the country upwards of $20,000.00 per year, not taking into account the cost to the Crown coffers of interest free loans… And where does this money come from? The taxpayer? Or pixies down in the garden printing cash? I think student unions and their mates in the Labour PArty must think the latter….

What more do these greedy idiots want? And i’m paying to read this rubbish through the $90 a year I get stolen from me.

The document you refer to is a “Certification of Live Birth”, frequently given to children born outside the US.

Mr Farrar, for chrissakes man, there is no problem with the document that you call the short form certificate , but is in reality termed the Certification of Live Birth.

It is a completely different document to a Birth Certificate.

Even a cursury search on the net will demonstrate the stark difference between the two documents.

BTW, there is no evidence of Obama living at the address stated in the newspaper announcement, and this was frequently done as a device to assist in gaining US citizenship for children born offshore.

Childs name, Sex, Date of birth, hour of birth, city, town or location of birth, County of birth, Island of birth, Mothers maiden name, Mothers race, Fathers name, Fathers race, Date filed by Registrar August 8, 1961.

Look, any Obama supporter who wishes to debunk the Birth Certificate only has to deal with the following logic trails:

In the US, where the Constitution demands that a President should be born in the US, and Arnold Schwarzneggar was denied a run for President becasue of his Austrian birth, should Brack Obama need to furnish proof of his US birth.

Obviously the answer is yes.

This only then leaves the following question to be dealt with.

Has Obama proved that he is a US citizen?

I assert he has not, becasue the Certification of Live Birth that he has supplied is not the same thing as a Birth Certificate.

Everyone born in the US has a Birth Certificate.

The “Certificate Of Live Birth” is the birth certificate signed by the doctor at the time of birth, the “certification of birth” is the form generated by the health system as a record of that birth. I’m sure there are quite a few people who have for whatever reason lost or misplaced the original certificate, and rely on the “certification” form as proof of birth.

By the arguments you’re using, doubt can be cast on any American about their citizenship if they can can only produce the “certification” rather than the original certificate.

I doubt than any “certifications” handed out to immigrants to the US have US locations as place of birth.

That cannot be right. Do you have a source? There are people born outside the US with the COLB form but no US birth certificate.

There is a lot of legal opinion out there that states the COLB is not accepted in some places as proof of USA birth.

I think your assertion is wrong.

The POTUS has to be born in the US, and the Birth Certificate proves it. Until Obama presents the Birth certificate, the speculation will persist. He keeps it hidden, and has in the least few weeks, changed his story on what hospital he was born in.

Momentum is growing on this issue.

Obama has previously claimed he would not produce the Birth certificate because he did not have to. Not because he does not have one.

The story was it was under lock and key in the Hawaiian hospital he was born in.

It can all be stopped by Obama presenting the real certificate.

Why doesn’t he??

Just to change the subject. From a recent event that happened to a colleague it appears there is no law in NZ to stop anyone dumping rubbish in someone else’s property unless they’ve previously been trespassed from the property. The police say they have no power to act even if you know who dumped the rubbish, and the dumping of the rubbish itself isn’t a crime (the actual crime would only be if the dumper was trespassing).
Could save a bit on council rubbish bags I suppose.

In fact, here is the declaration from a senior Hawaiian health dept official, Dr. Fukino-

“I have personally seen and verified that the Hawai’i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”

So all he has to do is show that certificate.

Anyone out there got a good reason as to why he refuses to do so, and has spent millions fighting off law suits to keep the Birth Certificate under wraps??

CEERIUM:::::::::Yet another point of view on the ex treaty lawyer and present Chief Justice. This from RichardLong in today’s Dom;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

NION: Frankly, there is a case for Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias to be banged up in the slammer herself, along with some of her colleagues.

Not for challenging the size of the jail population and suggesting a prisoner amnesty, but for presiding over the outrageous waste of public expenditure involved in the new $80 million Supreme Court building in Wellington.

Restoration of the old High Court building, to house a Supreme Court of only five judges, was initially to cost $20 million. That was exorbitant enough. But now the cost has gone from $4 million a judge to $16 million a head.

The judiciary and the last government decided that the renovated old High Court would not be grand enough and that they could not fit the five judges, with their court and chambers, into the old category one-listed historic building.

So taxpayers were then landed with funding a new structure for the Supreme Court while still restoring the old High Court building.

A bit of double-bunking in one of those flash new container prison cells sounds like just the thing to bring the judiciary down to earth.

Justice Minister Simon Power is getting it in the neck from the liberals for telling Dame Sian that, contrary to her suggestion, it is not Government policy to offer an amnesty to prisoners to get jail numbers down.

He could offer, as a counter, to divert a few of those containers from Corrections to Justice to house the Supreme Court judges in the meantime, while reconsideration is given to the question of judicial accommodation and to possible re-establishment of links with the Privy Council.

I hate Poms and Aussies so I wanted both teams to lose.
I was able to watch the late night play in a balanced manner. I have a chip on each shoulder.
Strauss’ sportsmanlike nature was almost enough to qualify him for Australian citizenship.

My nephew is over from the states and he was saying when it comes time for the Republican primaries where they are open they are looking at forming a Democrats for Palin movement to get Democrats to vote for Palin .

Of course once she has won the primary then they will find some white clean skins to go along to her rants all holding a monkey and screaming he is a ni**er from time to time.
Evil bugger, but hey you do what ever it takes to win like Bush did when it was suggested that McCain had fathered a black baby.

My understanding is they register themselves as republicans in order to prevent themselves being un-registered in secret in the run up to the election.

Quite apart from the fact that we had access to the best legal brains in the biz, whereas now … rummage, rummage, fumble grope ah yes, … if we promote this below average duty solicitor to the District Court, we can promote this District Court Judge to the High Court, meaning we can promote that High Court Judge to the Court of Appeal and shunt the Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court, meaning that we can now drag Ted Thomas out of retirement … aaarrrgghhhh …

… instant judicial horsepower!!!! Holy cow Batman, now EVERYONE is smarter than they were 5 minutes ago!!

On late news tonight an article about the Iranian Government using DPI (Deep Packet Inspection) to monitor their own citizens internet traffic after the recent unrest. Similar to the filtering scheme mentioned in the Herald and on a recent topic here. This is a classic example of the potential for abuse by those in power. Apparently the US and the UK also use it to monitor for terrorist internet traffic.
Looks like they can also redirect traffic to show what they would like it to show. Is this technology being used here or is it still a proposal? Objection to this needs to be brought to the attention of politicians. The slow creep to 1984 is continuing.
