A new job for Sue
September 27th, 2009 at 10:58 am by David FarrarSue Bradford only announced her resignation on Friday, but already Len Brown has a job for her, as reported by NewstalkZB:
Len Brown says he would relish the opportunity to work alongside Sue Bradford on the Auckland Super City Council.
The Manukau mayor has thrown his hat into the ring to lead the new local body, and says the Green MP would make a great councillor.
Mr Brown says he enjoys Ms Bradford’s company and thinks she is a great leader.
If Len is elected, he appoints the Deputy Mayor so that may be Sue Bradford. Of course Sue doesn’t like it when she isn’t leader, so she may have designs on the top job, not just the Deputy.
Imagine all the worthy projects Sue can think up for the ratepayers of Auckland to fund.

If you think rates will go up under the supercity, you aint seen nothing..

Shit I’m glad I sold my Ipredict shares in Brown for Mayor! (At a nice profit thank-you). Bradford hasn’t got a snowball’s chance of getting elected in so being appointed is the only option.

David, I know your mantra is “fomenting happy mischief”, but sometimes it would be good to let the obvious ones die a natural death. It’s like sticking a tin hat up on a pole from the trenches. You know that all the usual suspects will take a shot at it and say the usual things.
I dislike the woman and all her works, but it is less fun when the blog becomes like animal farm with everyone chanting slogans in unison.

Like most communists, Bradford can only exist by means of sucking on the public tit. Parasiting off the efforts of others. Legislativey stealing other people’s money. Her crippled brain is incapable of comprehending any other situation.
Damn… we need so badly to be free of these people.

Brian, why don’t you just start your own blog and have fun there??
Vote:September 27th, 2009 at 11:34 am
Banks up one cent and Brown down two cents on iPredict.
What a completely dumb thing for Len Brown to do – endorse the most divisive left wing social engineer in the country as a great leader he can work with!
What next – John Minto as Len Brown’s Minister of Finance on the new council?

I think Sue has decided there is not much of a future being in opposition politics for at least two Parliaments meanwhile she will be in her 60′s before any chance at Ministerial Office. She looked at what that means and decided to have a go at the supercity. She may just get on of course. Sounds like she and Len have been talking. I think given this turn of events warm comments on her parliamentary career will be muted.
Vote:September 27th, 2009 at 11:42 am
Brian – I presume it is true and therefore extremely relevant. Are you saying it’s only a humourous piece of tittle tattle and not worthy of discussion here? The thought that Bradford has even the remotest possibility of getting a position of power in the economic powerhouse of the country is terrifying. I don’t use the word lightly either.
If you don’t feel like discussing it sweet – but there is no need to assume an elitist pose and take cheap shots at those who do.

Under FFP she would be a good chance. Its a system that favours polarising candidates.

Great choice Len, all you need to get on board now is Minto, and Looser Locke into your team, and that should push you so far into the political wilderness you’ll need Captain Kirk and the Enterprise to get back here to earth
Vote:Beam me up Scotty there’s no intelligent life here.
September 27th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Yeah – Keith Locke for Sister Cities under a Len Brown led Auckland would be amusing. Expect delegations sent to Managua, Havana, Pyongyang and Tehran in short course!
“I bring greetings in solidarity from Comrade Len Brown of Auckland Council, to the Socialist Democratic Peoples of Venezuela, and the love of the people of Auckland to you, General Chavez”

Excellent news, that leaves Len Brown fucked and opens the doors wider for Banksie.
Vote:September 27th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
Exactly, Michaels. Nobody will vote for Brown now. I think an Andrew Williams / Phillip Field ticket would secure more votes than a Brown/Bradford ticket. It’s all to the good for Super Mayor Banks, though. The more he wins by, the greater his mandate to effect real change and make real improvements to the Auckland region.

Just love it when the Righteous rabble take a DPF miss-truth and turn it into fact.
Vote:Nowhere does Len Brown say he wants Sue as a deputy, but hey i’ll vote for Len just to keep the dickhead John Banks and his trusty ass-kick Aron B any from Local Government.

Len Brown, what a dick!!!!!!!!
Who in their right mind would want to be associated with a person who is rightly or wrongly disliked by a majority of the voters.
Vote:I cant believe someone could be so politically ignorant.
If that is the standard of his decision making then he wouldnt get my vote in 100 years.

Thanks for the warning, now Mr. Brown can go to hell too with the rest of the psycho squad!

For much the same reasons that you gave last time you were asked the same question. On the whole I think DPF does a great job. This just seemed like such an easy target that was unlikely to yield any great fun.

Been out and about for the day…..
Am a little stunned by Len Brown if in fact he is of the thinking that he would like to have Sue Bradford on his team….. He truly cant have anything between his ears…….. Banksie will be rubbing his hands with glee on a call like that from Len Brown…..
Len Brown = Clown Pants
it is too scary to even begin to start processing any thoughts of Sue B having anything to do with the Super City, give me strength…. Heavens to morgatroid…

i think Helen Clark can help Sue with a UN job – working with the ‘Economic and Social Council’ on helping to promote ‘rights based’ social welfare which IMO is a load of hooey.

Len Brown and rubbish seem to go together according to tonights TV News.

Remember how the left in NZ jumped on the filthy democrats attacks on Sarah Palin and the often used “one heart beat away from the Presidency”?, well it has now come full circle, I can think of no better attack line for Banksie and co to use against the joint Brown/Bradford ticket…
“Sue Bradford, one heart beat away from the super city Mayoralty”
That alone should secure the win for Banks.

And I thought Len Brown had a strong will to live..?? . Obviously I was wrong.
Vote:September 27th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Len Brown is foolish to publicly endorse her and I don’t really think she would make a very good Mayor of Auckland but a councillor, she would be good at that. Surely you people wont deny you need a variety in opinion on a council? Especially one governing that many people, so undemocratic as it is.

DPF said: If Len is elected, he appoints the Deputy Mayor…
That is one aspect of the Supercity structure that stinks, especially given that the Mayor is elected under FPP so could get elected with less than 30% of the vote in a 3 or 4 way contest. Totally undemocratic. Of course the Mayor could poll councillors and appoint as deputy the one that has the most support, but it’s still completely up to the Mayor.
Redbaiter said: Bradford can only exist by means of sucking on the public tit.
‘Baiter – you are just displaying your ignorance. Sue Bradford has never been a public servant. Apart from the last ten years that she has been an MP and a couple of years she was on the DPB in the 70s she earned her living working as a journalist, a librarian and a manager in non-governmental organisations.

Toad – I would love to see a copy of her job history. Can you give us that?
Vote:September 28th, 2009 at 9:26 am
Toad, I too want to see her employment history. I have been looking for it on the internet but have not yet found it. She doesn’t appear to have any fiscal responsibility which to me says she is sucking on the tit of the taxpayers. By the way, I don’t mind saying she is using up valuable fresh air and converting it to co2. I think she should be taxed heavily.
Vote:September 28th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Kaya and jackp, agreed. Her wikipedia page (sorry – touch of insomnia last night) is suspiciously quiet of her life between university (give me strength) and parliament. No mention of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. No mention of the Unemployed Workers’ Rights Union (again, give me strength). No mention of the multitude anti-establishment and anarchistic causes she was involved in pre-watermelons.
Vote:September 28th, 2009 at 10:30 am
Oh and BTW John Dalley (27/9 @ 2.05 pm), although Crazy Comrade Brown hasn’t said he would make her his deputy, she just took her bat & ball and sulked away from the watermelon party because they wouldn’t give her the keys to the office and the company bicycle. Why the hell would she not demand at least the number 2 job in Auckland, if the number 3 (or 4, or 5) job with the watermelons wasn’t good enough for her?
Vote:September 28th, 2009 at 11:03 am
So with Whale Oil taking Andrew Williams out of the equation, and Len Brown shooting himself in the foot with his “Hello Sue” approach, I’d have to say that John Banks’ guardian angel must be working overtime at the moment!
