I remember, when I was in my mid-twenties, talking to my first wife in front of the kids and remarking something like the house would be paid off by the time I was 40. Youngest, about 4 or 5, I suppose, drew a deep breath and said “but Dad, when you’re forty, you’ll be dead!”

I don’t think he is too upset at being wrong!
