Remember the Greens don’t do personal attacks
The Greens often go on about how they are a party of principle and policy and veer away from personal attacks, and smears. They seem to have forgotten to tell on of their senior office holders.
For some reason someone at The Standard posted a photo of MPs Bakshi Singh, Melissa Lee, Bill English and John Key – asking which one is not like the other.
Nah, it is that the three on the left have substantive allegations of corruption against them personally. The allegations against the one on the right are “only” of covering up the allegations against the others.
A bit like a line-up of Brad Shipton, Bob Schollum, Clint Rickards, and John Dewar.
Well done Toad, you score bottom of the barrel this week.

I’ve been holding off on commenting on this whole thing, but the holier than thou line is wearing thin. Clint Heine’s Photoshop of Helen Clark with male genitals was the grossest, most personal, hateful and despicable attack line I have seen, in or out of the blogosphere. I don’t recall you getting so uppity about that, DPF.
[DPF: I agree it was gross and it is not something I condone. However Clint is not a senior office holder in a political party. In the wider blogosphere there will always be gross, hateful and stupid things said or done. But that doesn't mean that MPs and very senior office holders in parties should lower themselves to that standard. With office, comes responsibility]

phil, I would imagine Key is extra-ordinarily relaxed about any inquiry into MP expense claims.
Why would you imagine that someone with $50+ million honestly made, would want to screw an extra few thousand from the system?
Especially when that someone is the PM who has proven himself to be acutely conscious of most factors which that position of responsibility entails and with respect to those areas in which he hasn’t, his behaviour can be put down to political inexperience?
I think its time you lefties woke up to the fact we are not dealing with a Hulun here, in that, Key’s integrity is not in question, not amongst those of us with no axe to grind. As a Green you should realise you are wasting electricity, bandwidth, and computer screens with your profligate use of phull stops. Every time you use three instead of one, and cram scores of these phool points into each post you waste bits and create wear and tear on the machines of thousands of Kiwiblog readers and posters. Your phool stops are clogging our copper lines and our phibre optic lines too.
Given some of our power comes from thermal generation, and given that even hydro, wind, and thermal power requires larges amounts of carbon emission in creating the massive equipment, you are being hypocritical to your Green principles in spattering our screens with Phool Stops. You increase the power used in exchanges, in running modems, and wear out our various types of screens, increasing the flow of sometimes toxic electronic waste.

Phil, to someone unemployed with hardly anything to their name, I’m sure $81k sounds like a lot of money. To people with experience in collecting rent and running office space, it’s a reasonably benign transactional sum.
Although I do concede that I am pleased Lockwood has brought all this out into the open. We should have the highest transparency for Parliament when it relates to MPs claiming money for expenses.

you are right again philu .. for the past 2 days I (we, wife included) have been helping my rather tired sons clean up their house .. you know, having to mow the lawns 2x as they were so long, washing curtains, cutting back an out of control thorny 12ft hedge, wedding the gardens etc etc etc.
My back hurts, my hammies hurt and my normally soft as a babies bottom hands are rough and sore. I have also picked up a bit of sun .. face is tender.
We have come home the each day fucked (we are both over 50 .. the new 40) and last night we had a nice BBQ with a couple of wines and today we had a roast pork (NZ) washed down with a couple of Brandy’s and now a wine or two .. we are treating ourselves. Sorry to shock you.
