Why do the media refer to the emails as offensive, or “expletive laden” but never racist? Seriously David, this seems to be a double standard – if a white politician said something similar the emails would be described as racist. Why not in this case? Why can’t the media bring themselves to use that adjective to describe the emails?

I’m embarrassed to ask .. what is a Mofo?
years ago when I lived on a busy ( well it was for my little town) street, I had my letter box kicked most Fri and Sat nights. As I heard the crunch/bang, a call of “ball or bald head” followed which was meant as a racist term .. never got to understand that name either.

At least Harawira was honest. He said he was going to Paris with his wife. clean no B/S.
Not like some for instance our very own “PERK BUSTER” Rodney Hide. He didn’t come clean!
I believe Harawira believed if all the rest Hide, Douglas, were getting free trips for there partners why not him? Sure it stinks but it isn’t going to change.
BTW, I’m still waiting for a comment from the “Perk Buster” Rodney Hide on the Harawira saga???

It is hard to imagine that the Race Relations Commissioner would refer to Hone Harawira’s email as “freedom of expression” if Hone was John, not Maori, and he’d been talking about ‘brown mofos’ instead of white ones. The hypocrisy in this country is maddening.

As a directly elected MP, though, Hone would be in Parliament under any electoral system we adopted – unless, of course, we got rid of the Maori seats – in which case he’d never even get close to the place, except during a protest.

For many years we have heard various Maori leaders express their admiration of Hone Harawira. I believe that Hone, as the brains of the Maori organisations, should continue as a leader of Maoridom. For he truly is the brains of that organisation.

The tribe spokesman on TV3 tonight said that Hone’s words (and bad language) were Pakeha words and not
in the Maori language – like some how it was our felt that he was using them???” by democracymum.

I couldn’t believe this tribe spokesman response. Is New Zealand going to put up with this??? Meanwhile this guy has his hand in pakeha’s pocket. Hone shows his intellect by the choice of language he uses. He truly is a lazy racist. I have met some very bright and ambitious maori who could easily take his place. But, he represents the people who voted him in. Doesn’t say much for that area. New Zealand has to stop the dole which would force a change in attitude.
