This will be like our Food agreement (FSANZ) where Australia dictated the rules to their benefit and because it was an international agreement and overseen by a joint committee it is considered outside New Zealand and able to keep it's decisions and reasons confidential.

Again we will lost our freedom especially as John Key seems to idolise America.

I believe the US congress has since amended motion picture copyright to 120 years subsequent to creation or release, whichever is the longer. Oz is a signatory to the DMCA, I believe the amendment passes into Oz legislation without review or reference. Reference is Randy Cassingham, thisistrue.com.

I'm very, very, very nervous about the implications of this treaty and the fact that what was once a counterfieting agreement has been railroaded by american copyright holders interest group. we've already got the stupidly long copyright term and other stupid clauses on fair use. This is a death yell, but it could be enough to push back progress on this front for a few years

>One reason I can think of is that they are getting furiously lobbied by United States lobby groups demanding changes to the proposed policy.

Total NZ votes, United States lobbyists plus Judith Tizard combined: 1.
Total NZ votes, the rest of us who use the internet: about 3 million.

Case closed.
