The 3am mayor

Jonathan Marshall in the SST reports:
Revelations of after-dark communications with Key come as Wood releases on the internet the abusive rants Williams left on his answer phone in October.
Blogger Cameron Slater – who has feuded with Williams in the past – is from today hosting the recordings on behalf of Wood on his website whaleoil.co.nz.
Cameron has made a nice video including the phone recordings. They reveal a highly insecure Mayor who feels the need to leave abusive and threatening messages on the answerphone of his predecessor.
In investigating the messages to George Wood, the SST found even John Key receives the late night missives:
An exasperated John Key has confirmed that Williams, mayor of Auckland’s North Shore City, has on several occasions sent “aggressive” and “obnoxious” texts as late as 3.30am.Williams has gained a reputation for firing off intemperate emails, text messages and voicemail to adversaries and colleagues until late into the evening.
In October, Williams emailed his mayoral predecessor George Wood at 11.34pm on a Saturday, describing Wood as a “buffoon” and a “disgruntled, failed has-been”. He also left abusive messages on Wood’s voicemail.
Key told the Sunday Star-Times that he had not replied to any of Williams’ messages. He said they had arrived at “anything up to half past three in the morning. It’s certainly nocturnal.
“I never reply to them , they’re never worthy of a reply. The messages were in an aggressive tone… I’m not going to respond to obnoxious messages at this time of the morning.”
Cameron has done well with this front page scoop for the Star-Times, with the recipients of the calls knowing where best to go to get them publicised. I expect he will end up becoming the most visited blog at some stage – even if he does it from D Block

Williams is a complete and utter plonker. Many of the terms of endearment he uses against Wood are far more applicable to himself than Wood. This is a massive own goal for the Clown of Campbell Bay.

In a contest between Slater’s whale and Williams’ goat I’d score it a comprehensive win to Cam Slater.

Indeed Sushi – and John Key has twisted the knife somewhat this morning both on Breakfast and Newstalk ZB, not by what he said about Williams, but by what he didn’t say, and the manner in which he didn’t say it

On Nat radio, Andrew Williams made John Key look like a big girl’s blouse = “Boo hoo hoo, I got some texts late at night when I was supposed to be in the house working.”

Defending the indefensible mpledger? Every time Williams opens his mouth, his foot gets further implanted.
December 14th, 2009 at 8:11 am
Williams needs to resign.
December 14th, 2009 at 8:12 am
Could Rodney put in a caretaker mayor while Williams is on the Island for a few months drying out??
December 14th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Wrong Inventory….. Every second third Williams opens his mouth he puts his foot in it, every second time he gulps another bottle of wine and every other time he is abusive.
December 14th, 2009 at 8:28 am
Just a thought mpledger but txting people uninvited in the early hours of the morning is the behavior of a drunken ex and has been known to lead to restraining orders.
Is your support for Williams based on political polarity or stupidity polarity? And how are we to diferentiate the two?

I can’t say I’m that interested in Auckland’s petty local political squabbling, but this guy is a total knob. It appears that the sooner that all the AK mini-cities are combined, and this inter-team sniping is defused, the better.

Sounds pretty tame to me.

Andrew Williams is patently unfor for office, so how did he manage to win the election? He looks and acts like an absolute clown.
Has he altered his behaviour so dramatically over the last two years?
I’m far away from Auckland’s North Shore, but I would be interested to hear from people there on how he has performed, what he has accomplished during his term.

mpledger’s 8.05 post in this thread attacking John Key shows Kiwiblog has another infestation of what Colin Espiner in the Christchurch Press today calls
These “20 somethings” have the brains of 13-year-olds.

I’m not sure how Williams won in the North Shore Manolo. I didn’t vote for him. I was expecting Woods to get back in.
He did campaign aggressively on halting rampant rates increases. I don’t think he delivered on that.

“These “20 somethings” have the brains of 13-year-olds. ”
I don’t think thats very fair Jack. I’ve met some quite bright 13 year olds.

This guys a loser.
Why does anyone vote for this clown?
He talks like a woman.

Oi!
December 14th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
What I want to know is how many people have John Key’s cell phone number? Mike Pero texted him with his Antarctic flights idea, and now the Mayor of North Shore has the ability to text JK with whatever is bothering him at 3:00am as well. Surely it is an inefficient use of JK’s time to be dealing personally with these types of communications?

He’s the PM, not freaken god campit.
December 14th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
“What I want to know is how many people have John Key’s cell phone number?”
Helen Clark, his boss, has it. She uses text to instruct the spineless PM on what to do, what legislation to pass and what to oppose. After all, both, Clark and Key, speak the same socialist lingo.

Our most dickless comment of the day candadite is…
December 14th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
Interesting but I thought that Williams comment today was quite compelling. He made the point that nowhere nor ever have people like McCully, Coleman,Mapp et al all Auckland electorate MP’s said anything at all about the super city and that applied especially to those that represented the north shore.
Is he right? I suspect so in which case he is justified in stiring them up. They of course chose to ignore the discussion as Nats tend to do.
Frankly you Aucklanders are welcome to John Banks.
Just remember in the next couple of years that Leopards never ever change their spots.

It’s a nasty habit to fall into. I found myself years ago drinking Chinese white wine here then amazed at what messages I had sent to various people. Just nasty and stupid, hateful, pathetic. I managed to quit that habit. Not the Chinese white wine though. Hehe. My guess is he gets loaded. Maybe he should cut down to wine or beer.
