Transtasman Predictions

December 10th, 2009 at 3:30 pm by David Farrar

Transtasman puts its tongue in its cheek for its 2010 projections. Extracts:

Despite the recession, Phil Goff ’s poll ratings decline further. He has a long lunch with Ian Wishart and criticises the dominance of scheming, childless “front bums” in the Labour Party.

After two weeks of internal muttering Labour MPs say they are right behind Goff and anyone interpreting his criticisms of “front bums” as anti-women don’t know what they are talking about.

Ouch – so cutting.

Jim Anderton retires. It is nearly a month before anyone notices.

He’s a party leader you know.

“Jim Anderton retires. It is nearly a month before anyone notices.”

Anderton, the old Stalinist, has been brain-dead for years. However, his ample and lamentable carcass is seen walking the halls of Parliament when the House is in session.

The sooner this parasite is pensioned off, the better for NZ.

I’ve a soft spot for him, much as I despise lefties and their discredited variations of socialism at least with Jim we knew where we stood. Give me his brand of full face politics any day than say Bruce Hucker or Michael Cullen or FGS Marilyn Waring or…

  3. Rex Widerstrom (4,965) Says:

Peter Dunne retires, leaving a Kirkcaldies mannequin in his seat so as to keep drawing a salary.

The mannequin’s greater personality, work output and sheer intelligence sees it promoted to National’s front bench. Dunne, appalled by this turn of events, attempts to return to claim his rightful position. However in a tragic accident, he is shot and killed entering Parliament.

“I was aiming for the feral creature on the poor bloke’s head; it was clearly attacking him,” says a shaken DPS officer.

The mannequin goes on to succeed John Key, winning a close race against Bill English, who withdraws at the last moment when it’s revealed he was claiming the mannequin as a dependent.

Is Jim Anderton really a party leader? I am hearing mutterings that the Labour party is allowing dual membership with progressives – effectively a rort to get the 500 members and keep an extra leader’s budget?

Not Sure the tongue was in the cheek on this TT prediction!

    “The Economy belly-flops: John
Key says he’s “pretty relaxed about
it, actually,” and rules out doing
    anything about it which might
    annoy anyone.”
