January 30th, 2010 at 2:53 pm by David Farrar

Beerologist asks the politicians their favourite beers. In summary:

  • John Key – Bath Gem, a tasty ale from Bristol
  • Phil Goff – Emerson’s Pilsner
  • David Garrett – Stella Artois and Macs Gold
  • Jim Anderton – Speights and Stella Artois
  • Peter Dunne – Guinness, Heineken and Macs Gold
  • Russel Norman – Founder’s Redhead and Tall Blonde
  • Metiria Turei – Green Man Pils

I’d go for Goff’s choice too, that’s a nice brew, one of my favourites. Haven’t tasted the bath water though, or Founders.

after seeing Philin in a pub on the West Coast on one of Labours meet the people, back to grass roots, whatever tours, they showed him pouring a beer .. apart from his annoyingly goofy smile, he was a piss poor piss pourer.
he does seem to be a nice guy though. Apart from his bizarre entry in the Richard Worth saga of course.

John Smiths Extra Smooth for me.

As a back up, Caffreys, or talking lagers then Steinlager Pure.

Any beer – well almost – that someone else is buying is okay.
If I’m buying it will be a Tui. But then I’m not an MP.

with Goff being the saviour of “ordinary” New Zealanders, I thought he would choose Lion Red

Gooner, I too am quite partial to a pint of John Smiths however if I am going to be wanky, my favourite drop would have to be either a unflitered Pilsner Urquell poured right from the barrel in Plzeƈ, (Czech Republic) or a Belgian Kriek beer… incidentally I will be making another pilgrimage to Bruges to bring some back next week.

Good to see some MPs have an educated palette.

@scanner no one willingly chooses Speights. Its only consumed by those who have no other options or whos low quality breeding has rendered them incapable of making decisions.
