Ever since I first read about the upcoming ‘iPad’ I wondered if this would be a bridge too far for a company that is otherwise very slick at marketing and innovation. It would not be the first time that such a company would screw up in the very field they’re supposed to be good at. Could not they have at least tried for the “iTablet” – clunky, but it escapes this sort of link.
Over the last few months you could probably find dozens of references to the other type of “pad” in discussions of this product – so a TV skit is not unsurprising. This looks like a screw-up by Apple, in that ridicule is what they apply to Windows. We’ll see how they handle the same treatment.
Remember gang, this skit was done way before the iPad was mooted. It was devised after the iMac, iPhone, etc., and was the next logical progression.
And I read other analyses of the name, and all agreed that while it has its problems, all other choices were worse. It also, frankly, raises the profile even more. No one will not have heard of the iPad by now.

That’s very weak. Kind of funny if you were in primary school maybe.

YAD – many will have heard of it, who needs one? More like iSmudge (but I won’t). Not a phone, not a PC, so it’s Yet Another Device for the “trendy”.

The iPad is totally unsuited for women. They can’t multitask.
