I can help Add this story to Scoopit!.

The Herald reports:

He’s W. Peters but he isn’t Winston Peters, so don’t phone him and don’t send him mail.

Mt Maunganui’s Wilhelmus Peters has been getting mail and phone calls for the New Zealand First leader since the change of Government two years ago and has even received inquiries from Australia.

The 85-year-old said he regularly had to take a trip to the Post Shop to return mail for the politician and reckoned it was about time Winston Peters made it clear to the public where he could be contacted. Even NZ Post had not been sure where to redirect the mail.

“Where does he live? Maybe the police can help. I’m annoyed,” Wilhelmus Peters said.

I can be of assistance here.

If the good Mr Wilhelmus Peters simply redirects all of Winston’s mail to my PO Box (12270, Thorndon, Wellington) I’ll make sure the mail gets delivered to the appropriate authorities people.

Any cheques from corporate funders made out to cash are especially welcome.

    I’d be changing my name.
Can you imagine some of the abuse he would get?
Please God, please let WRP RIP.

  2. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

Somewhat ironic that the “other” W Peters is an immigrant!

  3. AG (1,232) Says:

    DPF:

Your call, of course, but section 23 of the Postal Services Act 1998 might be of interest to you:

    Unlawfully opening postal article
    (1) Every person commits an offence against this Act who wilfully and without reasonable excuse opens or causes to be opened any postal article that is not addressed to that person.
    (2) Every person who commits an offence against subsection (1) is liable to imprisonment for not more than 6 months or a fine of not more than $5,000.

  4. David Farrar (1,560) Says:

AG: I am of course not being entirely serious.

However if I was, I would get Mr W Peters Tauranga to open the the mail (which he may have to do to ascertain if it is for him or not), and if he forwards on the contents, is that a breach? If it is addressed to simply W Peters? And is there an obligation, once opened, as to disposition?

  5. Michaels (1,296) Says:

    Yawn AG.

  6. Murray (8,734) Says:

But wait theres more: “He is against immigrants,” said the former farmer who moved to New Zealand from Holland 55 years ago and is a National Party supporter.

He was a LABOUR MINISTER you stupid clog dancer. God we need a writen test for people about to vote.

  7. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

Murray – I think the story was referring to the fact that WILHELMUS Peters was a National Party supporter, and therefore doesn’t have a lot of time for the xenophobic WINSTON Peters.

  8. Murray (8,734) Says:

Really? Stupid puncuation Inv. Thats not how it scanned.

Well then the whole thing is invalid because national party supporters are evil anyway.

  9. Zapper (280) Says:

Epic fail AG for not having a sense of humour and double epic fail Murray for not understanding the blindingly obvious

  10. Rex Widerstrom (4,529) Says:

I don’t think you’ve thought this through DPF. It’s all very well getting his mail, and the “anonymous” donations therein. But then you’re going to need Tommy Gear to guard it and Wayne Peters to set up a trust for you, complete with plausible deniability, into which to bank it. And depending on who the cheques are from, you might end up having to listen at length to Bob Jones.

Are you sure it’s worth it? :-D

  11. Jules (37) Says:

Ah ha…. Its started again. Media articles with baseless lies and derogatory comments.
Reading Tapu Misa in the Harold today.
According to the Pew report, old fashioned reporting is being squeezed our by commenatry and argument. And the more ornery and attacking, the more popular it is.
Well, I ‘spose the Harold needs the revenue ties to the ornery story.
Do the folk at Mt Maunganui know how to use a computer? The NZF website has a postal address they might have used had they used their initiative . Jeeze the quality of the people you can get to work for you these days is just not up to scratch. Must be immigrants. We must forgive Mr Wilhelmus Peters however, as at 85 yrs he’s been a good loyal National party member since he immigrated, and he’s doing his bit for the party.
