How many weeks since an Obama Press Conference

April 7th, 2010 at 7:00 am by David Farrar

In New Zealand, the PM has a formal press conference every week, and often several standups on top of that.

How many weeks do people think have gone by, since President Obama held a full press conference at the White House?

He is on the run David, he will never get healthcare passed against the united Republican opposition!

    Oh hold on……

[DPF: Nice red herring. He managed to get a bill passed which makes it illegal not to have private health insurance. You'd be leading the protest march against that one if a Republican President had done it]

Didn’t he have a press conference on the healthcare bill a couple of weeks ago? POTUS press conferences are usually limited in scope and frequency, GW Bush was criticised for not having many.

He has a weekly address. His press secretary has regular briefings.

    And yet another birther.
You really need to get a life.

But you know what, despite the fact that he has comprehensively proven that he was born in Hawaii.
Hypothetically if he wasn’t and he really did managed to pull this one off, would you agree that he really deserves to be President! Anyone who could achieve such a feat is a brilliant tactician and a master of foresight and planning. Which other president could have done something similar?

I mean, to convince everyone, congress, senate, republicans and democrats, except for only a few true, staunch, boneheaded rightwing nutjobs who wouldn’t believe it even if they held the birth certificate in their own hands. That’s quiet an achievement.

Because of the remote possibility the Messiah was not born in the United Sttates?

Obama himself is bringing this to public attention for his refusal to unearth the relevant documents. On the other hand, it becomes a welcome distraction to the President’s poor handling of the economic crisis and unemployment record levels.

He’s on his way to become another Jimmy Carter: a one-term POTUS.

    February 9, 2010 The President’s News Conference
March 30, 2010 The President’s News Conference With President Nicolas Sarkozy of France

Most of these are “event” or visitor press conferences, but he still takes questions at them, including atthe latest with Sarkosy.

That is 10 in 37 weeks, and average of one every 3.7 weeks, still not a lot.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-04-03/death-of-the-white-house-press-corps/full/

“Knoller, the press corps’ unofficial statistician who has covered the White House beat since George H.W. Bush, said Obama hasn’t held a formal press conference in nine months, since July 22.”

In fact Knoller has covered the every President since Gerald Ford. I regard him as a reliable source as to what counts as a formal press conference.

“The redoubtable Helen Thomas—who started at the White House covering JFK for United Press International, and still has a front-row seat in the briefing room—is worried that all the downsizing at media outlets will result in less-reliable coverage of the president.

“It’s a tragedy in my book—it means less accountability,” Thomas, now a columnist for Hearst, told me, looking up from her newspaper (actual ink on newsprint). “We certainly haven’t had any news conferences in a long time, which reminds me of Watergate in the sense of a long time of not having press conferences. Obama has given a lot of interviews, but that doesn’t reveal the whole picture at all.”

Thomas, at 89, might have slowed down a bit since her wire-service days, but she’s still combat-ready with a sharply honed question. “The difference between a news conference and interviews is that the questions from the ‘rabble’ will come from left field,” she said, “and they will ask something that will really startle him” and push the president off his talking points.”

What is your response to Pete George above, they were not “formal” press conferences?

[DPF: They were ones limited to a few questions or so. A full press conference can have scores and scores of questions, where the politician has to be on top game.

The question you are ignoring is why has Obama gone nine months and refused to hold a full formal press conference, when the White House press corps are complaining he won't hold one?

DPF In fact Knoller has covered the every President since Gerald Ford. I regard him as a reliable source as to what counts as a formal press conference.

So maybe the statement should be the first full press conference as defined by Knoller as it . As reading those transcripts provided they had questions from a reasonable range of reporters and a reasonable range of questions, not heaps but a reasonable range so the point cuold be argued and isnt exactly as black and white as you put it.

The reality is that that document could tour republican tea-parties, to allow the Redbaiters of the world to feel the bumps in the seal for themselves, and yet even then the birth certificate bollocks would persist. These people are just bat-shit INSANE.

But in a world that swallows the gospel according to the ridiculous Fox news, and then trumpets it, what else should I expect, I suppose?

” they needed to produce those photos of the birth certificate ”

Moron leftists- so thick they cannot even appreciate the salient point that the document, real or not, is not a “birth certificate”

It is a Certificate of Live Birth and in many cases this document is not considered sufficient ID to get a driver’s license. Here we have the President of the US, who openly declared his Kenyan birth during his senate race, and whose wife has stated on any number of occasions has Kenya as his homeland, now asserting he was born in Hawaii and all there is to prove it is the dubious COLB and a couple of newspaper advertisements. What an absolute fucking farce.

Here’s a pic of a real Long From Birth Certificate that anyone born in the US should have. (Barry said he had one in his book) Compare it to Barry’s COLB.

    http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u358/zczc3185/Birth_cert_coats_7c.jpg

All Zero has to do is show the authentic Long Form Birth Certificate and boom- he’s blown all the allegations and uncertainty sky high. Yet he won’t do this, instead preferring to spend millions in legal fees keeping the information that supposedly substantiates his COLB from the public eye. And his crooked mainstream media cronies keep covering for him.

He’s a fraud and a fake and anyone who thinks otherwise is a blind shambling Obama Zombie.

Don’t you ever think about the fact that constantly calling anyone who challenges your religion, its doctrines and it preachers a “nutter” is a strategy that will eventually wear very thin? Its seems like its all you useless panic stricken commies have these days. Anyone with a brain would awaken to the futility, biut since when have leftists ever been able to think in such logical terms? If they could, they’d never be leftists.

Why doesnt Zero release information relating to his past???? Just answer the question.

You know as well as anyone does that if it was George Bush doing this you pack of jackals would be baying your damn heads off. Not only are you hypocrites, you’d have to be thick as three short planks to expect to get away with it.

He has a point Pete. Agents of The Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy could have gained access to the Hawaiian governmental records and planted forged documentation, which the authorities could then have unwittingly generated that copy from. In 2007.

And why would anyone believe fact-check’s assertions that that document is a legit birth certificate, when Redbaiter keeps insisting it’s not? [His arguments are so powerful, it's not really necessary to discuss them.]

I’m not saying black is white. I’m saying that given the choice between believing what factcheck.org says, and what redbaiter says, I’ll run with factcheck.org on this occasion.

Factcheck is run by a major university, makes its private sources of funding quite clear, and their writings are to a professional standard. You are an anonymous troll on the internet who swears and curses a lot.

Do some research, red. You are just like the little dumb boy in the back of the class who keeps repeating the same question over and over again, despite that it has been answered. One is a short form, the other is a long form.

    All explained here

But to further humor you, the idiocy of your argument is, how come Obama would have produced one that was so obviously false. I mean someone who has planned such an elaborate scheme making such a blunder.

Obama was born in the US. Get over it.

No matter how often you are repeating your idiotic right wing bullshit, it remains just that. Complete and utter bullshit.

    Ross, read up on it.
If you think that there is a “connection” that would suggest something more sinister, you are beyond help.

The Ayers / Obama “connection” myth was dismissed during the presidential campaign. They sat on a board for a local school project. In 1995!!

So 15 years ago, the Annenberg foundation ran that local school project in Chicago, so therefore it’s objectivity is compromised.

Wow, big deal! It really takes a right wing nutwing to come to that conclusion.
