Garner’s version
June 30th, 2010 at 6:30 am by David FarrarThe Herald reports on the Edwards v Garner exchanges, and usefully gives us Garner’s version of events. Edwards had claimed:
The blog says that soon after, as Garner boarded the plane in which Mr Carter was already seated, he told the MP: “I am going to f****** get you, Carter. If it takes me to Christmas I am going to f****** destroy you” – a comment allegedly overheard by Dame Margaret Bazley.
That is somewhat different from:
The Herald understands Garner’s version of events is that Mr Carter provoked the exchange by calling Garner a “c***” in the Koru Club and when he boarded the plane and asked Mr Carter “what was that about?”, Mr Carter told him to “f*** off”.
Garner is understood to have replied: “If you want a f****** war, you’ll get one.”
Now there were witnesses:
Garner invited Labour chief whip Darren Hughes, who was travelling with Mr Carter, to give his version of events. But Mr Hughes said yesterday he would not comment.
Dame Margaret did not return a Herald phone call yesterday.
Personally I am looking forward to the battle for Te Atatu next year.

To be fair I’m already getting over this.
It’s getting a wee bit infantile and ‘Womens Weekly’

Carter will be adopting Labour’s default position. Lie.

Unless both Hughes and Dame Margaret back up Carter’s version in a public forum (MSM), it will become yet another nail in his political coffin.
Given his credibility is already stretched paper thin, Carter won’t win a ‘my word vs. his word’ contest.
(In all liklihood) yet another judgement error on the part of Carter and his advisors.
More entertainment for the masses though (puerile as it is)

I’m nowhere near over this. Let the Carter Trainwreck continue. Now we know why Edwards was engaged to make a pre-emptive media strike on the topic before it came out closer to vote time.

Both Carter and Garner enjoy a public profile, they think they are big cogs. They seem to have both acted unprofessionally, like pissed prats, not a good look for either.
Carter is on the wane anyway. Garner needs to look at what his job actually is. If he wants to play politics rather than report it he should stand for election.

Look the Helen Klark Edwards doll is having a war of words. No wonder the sane public view politicians and journalists with utter disgust. Most people have more respect for the rubbish man than these parasitic creeps.

Dame Margaret Bazley supposedly can reveal the truth in the exchange, but I imagine she will refrain from entering the argument.
Vote:And I don’t remember her name appearing on the Reader’s Digest list of New Zealand’s Most Trusted, which goes further to show up what a crock of krap that was.

Carter’s version of the exchange will be whatever Helen says it was.

funny seeing Carter sitting, side saddle as usual, behind Parker during Q time yesterday. The best part of course was Daffy raising a point of order while he was asking a question .. Hide couldn’t help himself with a comment about Daffy’s personality disorder.

Essentially the story is confirmed, Garner has told Carter that he’ll use his position as a “journalist” to get Carter but claims he was provoked – an excellent excuse for unprofessionalism.
Carter meanwhile remains a precious self entitled wanker.
Well shit I could seen this at any kindergarten sand pit at play time. Yesterday an Australian journalist on being told that Garner and Carter were in a bitchfight responded that seemed entirely reasonable as both were bitches. see THATS journalism.

Bazley who? Let us remember that Bazley is a former psycho nurse, operating above her pay grade. But hang on, Carter, Edwards and Garner are all nut cases so may be Bazley could help. Egotistical twerps!

I’d like to thank Brian Edwards for putting the carter troughing issue back in front of the public at a time when people were starting to forget what Labour had been up to.

I hope this heralds a new age of journalists as public figures being subject to the same intense scrutiny they apply to the public figures they report on.
As an opening salvo in new media 2.0 vs the MSM i’d say its one nil to the blosgosphere, though the rules around impersonating the country’s leading comentators need to be looked at.
its just too damn easy to be someone we’re not.

I’d just like to know who will be contesting Te Atatu for the National Party next election.

I understand the National candidate will be John Key’s neighbour’s, aunt’s friend’s, sister’s infant child.
National are anticipating a landslide victory

News from Wellywood has it that Garner is a bit of a wowser and likes a bit of a stoush.Carter meanwhile is cracking under the heat and probably won’t stand when Labour comes out of the closet and declares itself the Gay, Lesbian and Helens Hanger on Party.
Vote:On the subject of that wily old campaigner Edwards, Garner will play right into his hands and provide Edwards with a boost to his flagging media profile.

Haha Flipper @8:30 At last I have found another who is not the Bazeley’s greatest fan.
Having seen her in action at a SSC candidate interview in the late ’80s, I was left shaking the head in wonderment at how apt the Peter Principle is (Cream rises until it sours – or everyone eventually reaches their level of incompetence which may come sooner rather than later).
Vote:Totally underwhelming.

Carter does look a little bit under pressure and possibly going to get booted from the Labour Party.
Good on you Duncan. More tax payers money saved! Go you good thing!
