Just a small point Eddie; Carter may have used his ‘authority’ but not his brain. As you know his decision was reversed because it was considered to be arbitrary (or somesuch). And at more cost to the taxpayer.

When Cunliffe becomes leader…

Silent T has always struck me as one of those people who would have quite enjoyed being on the German side during WWII.

I’m fairly sure he’d enjoy being the leader as well, but I’m not sure if we will.

Carter has thrown a hissy fit and shown no contrition for his extravagances on the taxpayer tit. Lines are being drawn. His attitude is clearly a challenge to Goff’s leadership (which has been pretty soft up until now). Does he have support (retreating to Auckland will not help) or are his fellow travellers going to abandon him? An emergency call to big H in the Big Apple may be in order. Carter is not being crucified because he is gay but being gay may be part of his problem.

Jones was at least smart enough to fess up when caught and know that we wouldnt keep targeting him

Carter is a dumbarse too thick and stupid so he paints a nice big target on his forehead and then cries like a baby when we shoot at the target.

IF Flick doesnt demote him to the very back of the back benches then Flick looks weak and ineffective.

There is a big difference between repentance and remorse. Cater doesn’t understand this.. and thinks an ‘after the horse had bolted’ apology is sufficient.

Carter now on indefinite leave.

Labour leader Phil Goff has put conservation spokesman Chris Carter on indefinite leave despite an unreserved apology from the Te Atatu MP.

“This is the minimum step that I demanded. He now has to prove himself to me. For the time being he is on leave but when he comes back I expect him to behave in an appropriate way,” Mr Goff said.

In other words, ‘I want to sack him, but i’m too spineless so expect to see him back.’

Certainly not.
Seriously, I have friends and clients who are gay. Carter does the gay cause a disservice by trying to deflect criticism by saying it is his orientation that makes everyone pick on him, when it is simply his conduct and attitude that gives the msm and the blogshpere so much fun.
I would even put money on Charles Chauvel beiong embarassed by his conduct.

Quite right Pete; it’s too little, too late. And Carter has also defied Goff; he hasn’t gone back to Auckland as he was ordered to. Instead, he has hung around in his office drafting his “apology”. I’d venture to suggest that he’s skating on thin ice.

Labour MP Chris Carter has been sent home from Parliament by Phil Goff after refusing to apologise over expenses.

Mr Goff had instructed the beleaguered MP to return to his constituency of Te Atatu after refusing to acknowledge any wrongdoing and that he had let the public down.

However, Mr Carter did not board a plane returning to his constituency and instead sent out a written apology.
