Bob, Obama is finding the going very tough and yeah, discovering the reality that the plot writes itself despite how he tries to frame things.

I don’t think he’s trying to destroy the US, that idea is for the conspiracy nuts. He inherited the presidency with the place already in a mess – GW also didn’t try to destroy the US but leaving it with two costly wars with no end in sight, snowballing deficits and the beginnings of a major financial meltdown he didn’t help the US cause. Obama – and all the hangers-on that constitute the presidency – may be making a mess messier, but I don’t buy into the deliberate plot.

Obama has been behind Afghanistan from the get go, its no more Bushs war than any other democrat or republican. GW did not ask for or cause 911 and Afghanistan would have occured under any President.

Iraq and its complications can be layed at Bushs feet. The surge left Iraq in a better state and if Obama really believes in it, he can pull out if he wants to, but like closing Guantanamo he hasn’t looked like doing so.

Bush was fiscally poor but his deficits were are fraction of what Obama has done and did not force Obama in any way to spend like he has done.

Not Bush’s fault, caused my democrat affirmitive action policies. Bush tried hard to rein in Freddie and Frannie.

Most of Obamas bad moves since becoming president have nothing to do with Bush. And anyone that wants to defend him and has any class should shut up about Bush.

Where is the Bush involvment in:

Possible involvement in Blagoyovich corruption case.
Stimulus pork including billions to corrupt Acorn.
Appointment of inappropriate czars including Van Jones.
Bowing and scraping to the Saudi King and Japanese Emporer.
Degrading America in speeches in foreign soil.
Insulting cambridge police.
Pushing through healthcare reform against the will of American people.
Attacking Fox News.
Playing 40 games of golf.
Sueing the state of Arizona.
Mishandling the Oil Spill.

I agree with that too. He was portrayed as so enlightened and intelligent that for such public perception to be dashed so early in his Presidency would be ghastly for him, so he allowed the pressure from pork-chomping Senators and Keynesian cretins like Krugman to overwhelm him and decide US economic policy. Of course, here we are now in our stagnation, halfway through the year where most of the spending was to be done. Europe was able to admit it was wrong and start austerity measures because it didn’t have the “oh look how super smart he is” ball and chain hanging around their legs, and for Obama to repudiate Keynesian measures would be to repudiate all the experts he and the media put so much faith in to fix things – it would destroy the credibility of both.

That’s why I think he won’t try and centre himself in November if the Repubs make a massive come back – he simply doesn’t know how. Clinton could because he had actual governing experience (you know, the sort of experience Palin had that just wasn’t as important as street thuggery- sorry, community organising). And with the impending departure of ruthless realist Rahm Emanuel, he is likely to fall even deeper into the embrace of the idealists and more likely to set himself up for a massive upset in 2012.

Two and a half years is a epoch in politics, though.
