Australian Election Results Add this story to Scoopit!.

Have left it rather late, but how many people in Wellington would be keen to watch the aussie election results in a bar somewhere? Polls close at 6pm, which is 8 pm NZT. So starting say 7.30 pm?

Let me know if you are interested, and if enough are, I’ll try a couple of places.

  3. Lawrence Hakiwai (113) Says:

How about those latest polls – now 50-50 with the momentum shifting to the Coalition!!!

It could be a very interesting night.

  4. Tauhei Notts (1,015) Says:

On Betfair Abbott’s odds have tumbled from a $3.85 roughie to a $3.05 contender. That is just since Wednesday!

  5. GMDI (67) Says:

How about somewhere close to the stadium, wellington are playing after all? Then I could just traipse merrily over and watch the daywalker get shocked by the pirate monk

  6. Rodders (1,452) Says:

For the first time in living memory, TVNZ are not screening any coverage on Saturday night. I guess the ABC will be streaming live coverage? (I had a glance but found the ABC website to be labyrinthine.)

  7. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,528) Says:

Check out the Sydney Daily Telegraph website for a perceptive (?) election eve assessment by their editor. Punchline – Prime Ministers are supposed to be elected by the people of Australia, not Labours back room power brokers…… ergo, she must go!

  13. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

Worst case scenario: Labour dragged into power by the neo-socialist Gweens. Massive carbon and mining taxes enacted. Economic growth slows down.

I hope the Australians have the intelligence to reject Frankenstein’s Monster tomorrow.

  14. Rodders (1,452) Says:

Doug, thanks very much for the heads up :)

  15. Tauhei Notts (1,015) Says:

    Abbott firms further to $2.82.
Would it be crude to suggest, having followed the betting market, that like Chris Carter, he is coming from behind.

  16. Tauhei Notts (1,015) Says:

    Abbott in to $2.74.
    The march is on.

  17. kathroids(1) Says:

  18. peteremcc (290) Says:

Hey all, I’ve organised a bar for us to watch at.

CQ Bar, in the Comfort and Quality Hotel, opposite the Salvation Army building near the top of Cuba Street.

Starting about 7.30pm, polls close 8.00pm and we should have results by about 11.30pm (all NZ times).

  19. Tauhei Notts (1,015) Says:

But the smart money started going back on Labour and Abbott weakened to $2.94.
If New Zealand is ever going to catch up with Aussie we have a chance with Gillard at the helm.
