Greens want fewer cows, not more

Russel Norman is horrified by the wishes of of the Chairman of the South Port in Bluff who wants to double dairy numbers in Southland.

The thought of a doubling of exports is appalling to the Greens. You see their official policy is not only to oppose any increase in dairy numbers, but they actually want to reduce the national dairy herd by 20%.

They don’t specify if they wish to simply shoot one in five cows, or give them toasters for not breeding so much.
