A premature article
January 17th, 2011 at 1:00 pm by David FarrarClaire Trevett in the NZ Herakld writes:
Labour leader Andrew Little said there was a greater reluctance to donate, which many attributed to the recession.
“We are getting a steady flow but they are more modest by comparison to those which are reported in the election returns [of more than $15,000].”
National Party president Peter Goodfellow was overseas.
Claire is ahead of herself. Andrew Little has not yet rolled Phil Goff.

I think he might have to become an MP first. And then get the numbers to jump the queue.

I doubt this kind of thing makes him more popular with Labour MPs. If I were one I would certainly resent his annointment by media and commentariat. It will actually make it harder for him to achieve his (assumed) ambition.

Just setting the scene to claim poverty next time they rip off parliamentary services funding for the campaign.

Perhaps Mr Little should look long and hard at the Labour party to realise why people aren’t donating to them. You’d have to check with the president of National to see if the same thing was happening across the board. Somehow I think not.

Could this just be a little bit of tongue in cheek journalism? after all as a trade union boss Andrew Little is after all a kind of ‘labour leader’.

Its like those old jokes about communist Russia in which they investigated the leaking of the results of the upcoming elections.
Little is going to get very pissy when he finds that outside of his unions kiwis are not going to be falling over themselves to worship him.

Has anyone actually seen Little smile or laugh in public? anywhere?
I know to be a socailist meddler you have to be a humourless tit but this guy is something else all together

Humourless self appointed God.
He really is better suited to the old Soviet collective days.
I truly hope he gets into a fully recognised position of power. That would make my decade.
Smile and Wave will cream him.

Surely it depends on if one is talking about the Labour Party or labour unions .. really a silly quibble

And now I see Little is quoted in this morning’s Dompost editorial as saying that Key’s reluctence to immediately ‘Mondeyise’ Waitangi Day and Anzac Day is due to his reluctence to offend a small section of the business community.
FFS, where was Little and his commie friends going into battle for the workers when their mates were in power for nine years.
I’ve ceased to be amazed by their hypocracy and that of the MSM for not asking this obvious question of him.

Isn’t small ‘l’ leader different to big ‘L’ leader, much like Labour and labour.
I noted that Wellington City Councillor, Helene Ritchie, referred to herself as a former labour leader on some of her local body campaign material – maybe on her website.

The “rush” to Monday-ise Waitangi Day is ridiculous, it’s far too late, it’s less than three weeks away. I’d support it being Monday-ised in time – next year it’s on Monday anyway, so there’s two years to change it before it makes any difference.
I don’t think Anzac Day should be Monday-ised, but there’s nothing to stop employers giving employees another day off this Easter in lieu of Waitangi and Anzac Days.
Goff and Little may be excused for not doing anything about it for the last few years Labour were in government, because it wasn’t an issue. Leap year worked on our favour on 2004/2005, with both Waitangi and Anzac Days skipping Saturday.
What about last year though? Waitangi Day was on a Saturday, Anzac Day was on a Sunday. Maybe it wasn’t an election year and maybe Labour weren’t so desperate.

Why don’t these guys understand that if you make it harder (& more expensive) for employers to opereate, there’s less to give to the workers?

I really wonder whether he will get the numbers as I understand a number of Labour MPs are genuinely afraid of him, and not in a nice way.
They do not like what they expect the baggage he will bring with him.
But if he does, Labour will swing very hard unionise left – not good for the country, as he appears to have no moderating empathy, or humour.
